I think we should all make twitter accounts because it seems like that is where things are seen and trended. Twitter gets more attention than tumblr and faster. Of course let's keep posting in the thread a lot too, but it's not a good way to spread to others because only Seohyun fans visit this thread. Twitter accounts will also help other Seohyun fans have more support in numbers. Even if you don't use it often, it's good for things like trending and voting and certain situations like recently lol. We should be an example of Seohyun fans. Supportive, respectful, but informed if we need to defend. We should hashtag #HappySeohyunDay (keep it simple) and #UtterlyAmazingSeohyun and also whatever Korean hashtag there is. We can tweet/answer a short but meaningful question, like "She important to me because ______________________ #HappySeohyunDay #UtterlyAmazingSeohyun". or "#UtterlyAmazingSeohyun because ____________________________. #HappySeohyunDay" (I like this better, saves space) It will be more heartfelt than just spamming pictures alone, and it is simple. I love Seomates here because we take a real interest in everything relating to her. If it's musicals, we try to learn as much as we can about musicals. If it is acting, we have discussions about dramas, movies, how she can be a better actress, and watch everything closely. If it is singing, we try to learn about vocals and making music. If it is fashion, we try to learn about that. If it is things she is reading, we want to know. After her post about her horse, I even saw people looking up horses hahaha. Her diet and exercise, everything. If it's the people she is working with, we try to be respectful and friendly. When Sone were bashing Chany*ol after the movie was announced, we were polite and handled everything maturely and respected him. When some people were upset for her screen time, we said it's okay and to respect everyone in the drama because she is not the lead. We always look for the best in a situation, try to be patient and hope for better. Which is why is pisses me off so much that other Sone call us "forceful", "too vocal". Go back to fighting each other about who is more popular in China or who didn't post support on Instagram, or fighting ex-member stans over preschool insults, or fighting boy group fans because your bias is "too good to date him"/"actually a lesbian", or fighting rookie girl groups to prove SNSD's forever superiority, or fighting SM for more comebacks when they are all obviously busy and happy exploring their interests. These fans are hypocrites. Here a lot of you want the best for her and actually care about her interests, thoughts, and progress a lot and we are so excited to see her try new things and learn more about her. There is always something bigger and better to look forward to. Some members do drama after drama, variety shows after variety shows, have interesting projects and hobbies, but I see a lot of fans get more excited about just their selcas, or talking about how pretty/popular they are, or moments with other members. Not all of them, but a lot. At least the ones that find Seomates who are way more interested in her solo activities/future annoying or betrayers or something. It is that group first/bond first mentality. I appreciate and respect her relationship with her members a lot, but sorry being a stan for just ships and bragging is so boring and aimless to me. Especially long term. She is a performer/actress/artist first, and I want to see her do those things well and have a high standard for growth. This is just my opinion though, I don't speak for all Seomates. I hope you all continue to post your thoughts a lot.

She sold out almost every Mamma Mia performance she did, and helped make it the most profitable and diverse season in the show's history. Men, woman, adults, and kids. I hope people understand how hard that is. Most of her shows were not on the weekend and a lot were even during the day time. Tickets cost as much or more than a big concert. Almost 60,000 people watched her total. Huge crowds waited for her both before and after every show, whatever day or time it was. I knew Mamma Mia would help her gain popularity but I didn't know it would be so instant and to that level. People WILL support her. They want to support her. They trust in her talent and ability to prove herself.

"Having ugly stans" is too funny to hear from fans of those members. SNSD has been active for almost 10 years and I have followed them for almost that long. Do they think they're innocent? Almost all major Sone accounts were run by Tae*ny fans. The way they reacted when Seohyun was announced part of TTS is still the "ugliest" thing I have ever seen. First off, one of the users with the largest followings deliberately released false news that it was TTJ (with S*ica), because those were the three favored members to be in the unit. So when it turned out to actually be Seohyun there was an outcry from everyone. From fans who wanted the other three, from fans who were angry it wasn't J, from fans who were angry it wasn't just TT, and from fans of other members not in the unit because they thought it was unfair. Basically nobody wanted Seohyun and didn't try to hide it. They shaded everything from her personality to her singing skills. These were so called "representative" fans. For pretty much the whole year she was again and again ignored, cropped out of pictures by fans AND fansites, didn't have things translated (her 100 million quiz show is still unsubbed to this day), and had so-called Sone calling her a third wheel, a robot, a boring thing in the way of "fun" members or their ship. This is just one example with Seohyun. I've never seen a member of a group treated like that by her own fandom, it was disgusting. So many of these shippers still continue to snub Seohyun, just not as obviously. Seomates endured that quietly and more importantly Seohyun herself endured that. Even on radio she said her Twinkle photo cards would probably not be popular with fans as the others so there will be less of them made. In TaeTiSeo comebacks, she always has the least lines, least screen time, least interview questions ( both on magazine and tv), and worst styling. It is not imagination but fact. In almost 8 mins of this look how little Seohyun there is compared to others. In live stages of Merry Christmas and Winter Story, most of her parts were cut. But we are not allowed to say anything because it is "annoying". They themselves begged for those members solos all the time before they happened, but for a Seohyun fan to say they want her solo or special activities to herself is such an offensive thing? I hate it most when they use Seohyun's personality against her fans, "oh she's so nice and doesn't complain so you can't either". "Shut up, she will flop like L*na, will you even support her?". Yes, Seomates will. Will Sone? They act like Seomates are such a problem when their members' fandoms are always attacking each other on weibo and instagram, and some wanting their bias to leave group for China. Yet we are problematic and arrogant? I can guarantee no Seomate has problems with anything as long as she is taken care of. In 10 years - 2 Osts (least of all vocal line and tied with dance line members), no solo digital singles, public doesn't even know her voice - 1 variety show (in 2010). Least of all except for YA, who at least had big acting projects and CFs and other jobs. - Started musicals last, 7 years after debut, even though it was her dream and goal since debut but SM stopped her - Started acting way last even though she wanted to do it since debut, lost great opportunities, and even now she's only doing terrible packaged cameos/minor roles while others (some less popular or not even great at acting) are on their 3rd, 4th, 5th lead. - No overseas event - No overseas photoshoot - Few photoshoots in general - No support from SM in her recent musicals - Least solo endorsements except for SNY - Any fashion show, premiere, event she attends in recent years is all through her own networking and friends. And this is a member still with a good fandom and public recognition. Are we crazy in seeing she is way undervalued? I don't think she will ever leave the group or SM so it's hard to wish for things like that. I just hope she continues to become bolder and bolder and grow even more wise and confident so she can always express herself.

Exactly. Seohyun until this year had NO projects for herself outside musicals, which she only got a couple years ago. While musicals have their own type of audience, you need to survive in this industry by being seen. She has to catch up fast now so we're seeing her do a movie, drama, and web drama all targeted to China. It doesn't mean China is her goal, but her foot in. And why not? She was one of the original members who had interest in Chinese. Some pompous fans of other members were making fun of her for this web drama having no superstar popular people in it. Why would top stars work for a WEB DRAMA in the first place lol? She's not trying to compete with anybody for Asia Universe Goddess or whatever. She doesn't need that, it's not her priority. She needs experience to make up for lost time, and as a bonus strengthen her fandom. Moon Lovers is crazy chock full of popular stars. So I Married the Antifan has all the tweens excited too. So she's good on that front anyway. Even some Seomates were trashing the news. Why such high expectations? It's only her first year. Taking things step by step is great. And how does it look if her own fans nitpick and complain about everything before we see results?

By the way, So I Married the Anti-Fan looks like it will be reaaaaaaaaaally popular. It won the Weibo's most anticipated movie award and it has a pretty big release worldwide, even in most major cities in North America. Seohyun may not be the main character but her character is a memorable one, which is even better. Same with Moon Lovers. She is playing quite a complex character. Acting in China for the sake of acting in China isn't really much payoff other than the money and exposure. Koreans don't actually think highly of actors that are based there. They don't watch the dramas or take them seriously. The plots, graphics, length, and dubbing don't appeal to them. Most non-Chinese speaking international fans don't watch either. Relevance in China is also really tough to sustain because of the high volume of local actors, high volume of projects, and high turnover of foreign trends. Top actors have to work continuous back-to-back projects for a long time to stay established. For Seohyun, I would much rather see her continuing to work her way up in Korean dramas and movies because that is how she'll build a good reputation as an actress. The movie industry in Korea is one of the most admired in the world, and successful dramas are the best way to win over the public. That said, for her to work right now in China is actually really smart. Because it's still the beginning of her acting career, she has no "prestige" to lose. She can try more variety of characters compared to Korea. And any fans she gains there will actually be useful to her as a SINGER. Even if it's just a web drama, it's still China. One billion people. The tiniest fraction of that is still a huge audience, more than anywhere else. If she has a solo next year, or after that, or whenever, even a modest amount of dedicated Chinese fans can make a huge impact. They bulk buy everything.

There's said to be two wives but that doesn't necessarily mean they will both be leads, one can be more prominent. This actually sounds like a fun concept to me. She will also have a baby? I'm glad she is playing roles with more "adult" themes rather than student/poor girl/basic girl gets a date. We've seen that a million times. If she's going to do a web drama it might as well be ridiculous and entertaining. That's their appeal, that they don't have the same restrictions as regular dramas. They can be more "out there". Anyway, I don't really care too much about the plot of the drama because web dramas have more like short situational focus per episodes than a grand, complicated story lines. They're like snacks. What's more important (like all of you have said) is that Seohyun gets experience. This is perfect for her, especially to develop her comedic acting, which right now is maybe her weakest point. It's good that she can do that for a foreign online drama that Koreans won't pay serious attention to. She can breathe. It's great for someone still learning. Think of it as a treat just for us. It's not a high commitment or high risk project we need to worry for her, we can just enjoy it, see lots of her, make pretty graphics and use it to give her feedback on what to improve. The director is the one behind Princess Hours which was really popular so at least we know there's some good hands here.

Yes. I could just listen to her talk about anything she likes or has an opinion about. I think the way her mind works and the way she speaks is so interesting. Calm and strong at the same time. And especially since WGM, she's matured a lot in the way she views things. On Hello Counselor she had the most healthy advice and opinions of anyone in the room. "The value of coexistence<3" She is also really funny in a cute and natural, sometimes deadpan or mysterious way. This might sound weird but I always thought she had more of a personality to be an actress than an idol. Because idols are supposed to be very upfront, bubbly, eager to please, comedic in a slapstick way. You are supposed to immediately identify their "character". And while Seohyun is a happy and fun person, she is very inward, observant, honest to what she doesn't feel, and protective of herself, so she struggles with that. In interviews she talks about needing to play other characters to tap into certain aspects of her personality. Traditionally a lot of the best actors are the ones who have a bit of distance or reserve in real life so that they can surprise with different characters and make them believable. Take everything she's already known for - gentle beauty, perfect proportions, elegance, cute quirks, manners, pretty mind, work ethic....and imagine if she had debuted as an actress. With the double standard, she would've been ten times as loved. Haha, these are just stray thoughts though, nothing more. I think it's good she was an idol and not so great at it because that's how I came to notice and appreciate her.

These days I feel like rewatching WGM. I really don't care about the "couple" aspect but I want to go back and fall in love with Seohyun again where it all started. She was so charming and innocent, sincere like a baby lamb. Never thought someone so simple and sweet could be so interesting, she left such an impression on me. And she had a real journey. The first time I ever cared so much about a celebrity and still care now. I think the reason most (international) SONE don't relate to her or understand her or really "care" about her is because they never even tried to watch it. That was the only glimpse we had for a long time about her personality because with SNSD she'd always just fade into the background. I remember I hated watching variety shows and interviews at the time because she was so quiet and passive with the group compared to WGM where she wasn't hiding behind anyone. Even though the shippers annoy me, I'm really thankful to that show for helping people get to know a "realer" her. I think she touched a lot of people who are still dedicated fans of hers today.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've seen Click here to view the Tweet How embarrassing that even long time "Seomates" jump in with these Sone who say we shouldn't be proud of her or wish opportunities for her. Why even be a fan then? What is the reason you even follow her? Because she's nice? Innocent? OT8/OT9? That's it? Is that all the expectations you have of her? Do you even know her at all? Because if that person did they'd know Seohyun doesn't want to be an empty vessel. She is a very ambitious person who cares a lot about the things she is interested in. She doesn't work that hard so we can be silent and just watch her from afar, and say she's not a big deal. Who else does she have besides fans? How many times has she said she wants to be the best singer, artist, musical actress, actress that she can be? That she wants trust for her skill and not just attention for being a celebrity. How many times has she said she was excited when people praised her for her individual efforts and not just "SNSD"? That she loves when people are excited for her projects and encourage her? There is nothing to be ashamed about dreaming for her.

I don't know how the two situations are similar either except they're both overdue to showcase their talents. That said, I don't think Seohyun fans are as pushy or rude as the other fandom in general. Of course there's exceptions but in general I haven't seen the same kind of behavior. I HAVE seen other fandoms (MaoM*os..) try to trash others by using Seohyun and that annoys me so much because they did the same thing with L una and in the end most don't actually care about her. Seomates are expressing themselves but there's nothing to apologize about it as long as we're not trying to be unnecessarily hateful and unreasonable to others. As a fandom we've been too behaved almost to the point of pushovers for practically a decade. That's why S*ne balk when fans talk about a solo now. Seomates are supposed to be nice and know their place ("like Seohyun" ). That's assuming if they know Seomates exist in the first place since a lot seriously still believe she's unpopular. But no other fans of someone like her (with untapped talent, visuals, fandom, public image, potential for artistry) would sit quietly as long as we have. I always see "let ____ sing!" "let ____ rise!!" "stop sleeping on ______!!" for idols who honestly can't do anything or will never have selling appeal. So why shouldn't we hype her. If she flops, she flops, no big deal. If she gets criticism, fine. She's in good company. Nobody appeals to everybody. But at least we had solid, tangible reasons to want more opportunities for her. And most importantly, if SHE believes in making her own music (she does!) then who is anyone else to argue. That said, I don't believe she will do poorly. Like you said, she has her own fans that have always come through for her, good favor among ksone, and she is not going to go with "experimental" music that'll immediately put off the public (which is honestly more underwhelming than it is different but lol that's another topic). She won't want to rush it and I don't think she will let SM rush it either by dropping it with no notice. I think Seohyun will at least give heads up to major fansites who will start preparing and organizing orders. I don't know if she'll exceed the other members in sales but she'll still do much much better than most girl groups and soloists. It'll be a comfortable success if looked at reasonably. Maybe better, who knows.

This made me laugh because it's so true. Sometimes I wish she wouldn't be so secretive but at the same time I think the mystery and surprise she values makes things more interesting for fans. Hanging on her every word and action, we learn a lot more about her this way I think, and there's more payoff. It's also cute that she trusts fans enough to read between her lines. Sometimes I wish I could have her willpower and patience.

Ouch, your last sentence really hit a spot. You know when people say, "write a letter then!"? Hahahaha, here's our chance. I think everyone in the thread should at least write to her and express our hopes, support and frustrations with her. At the very least, she will know we care. This is the easiest and cheapest thing to do as a fan. Whether it's a note or a novel, let's all try to get something in.

Thank you, and I agree with all of this. I know too well how frustrating it is to be her fan, but I have also learned to trust her. Because she keeps telling us over and over, "I want to sing, act, do musicals, and more, for a long long time". I believe her. Seohyun isn't someone who makes empty promises. Honestly I am also tired of kpop, but as long as Seohyun is still going at it, I will be there for her. She is someone with a lot of dignity and faith in herself, and doesn't care about comparing herself to others. Getting jealous or threatened is beneath her. So as fans let's have a similar attitude. Not just to avoid clashes with others, but to be happier fans. Every time we get annoyed, let's just support her more. Because in the end, dedicated fans are more helpful to her dreams than sad or angry ones. Even if some of us are not on board with the group anymore, it's important to Seohyun so let's not insult her by insulting it. Plus a lot of Seohyun fans are still Sone. Like I said, let's just focus on the things we're excited for. She knows what she has to do in the future and how to do it. Yes, she is not getting roles others are. On the other hand, nobody can say she didn't earn her way up or that SM stuck her as a lead in something before she deserves it. Seohyun values her good name as an actress and performer a lot. She doesn't want anything to come "cheap". It might seem overrated to think that way, but well....that's her. Same with music. She will want to show her best as a vocalist and artist. In her mind she still might want time to improve. In the meantime she is building a loyal and wealthy fanbase through musicals, she won't be forgotten. She has everything covered!

Seems Seohyun's going to be working on Scarlet Heart really late. Trailer already looks mostly complete and they moved the premiere from October to August which means she only has a month or two to shoot. Since there's a lot of editing involved for the big-budget look I'll say it's probably even less than a month. Even for her weekend drama in 2013 she filmed for a 2-3 months for 4 eps and less than an hr of screen time in total. And that was a really low-budget drama too. So a lot of people are saying her role in Scarlet H must be reaaaally small. I wonder why she dyed her hair black so early then? It's kind of sad because looking at the trailer the quality of the drama looks soooooooo good. But on the bright side it means she can really focus hard on her acting because there's not a lot to exhaust her anything. So hopefully at least her few scenes will be really good. She is really working hard on horse riding which is surprising because her character in the Chinese original version never rode horses....... Anyway I can't wait but I won't get my hopes up for a lot. Let's hope after this drama and Chinese movie she can start taking bigger roles. Not necessarily lead but at least a solid 2nd lead or character that gets good screen time.

I agree with all of this. I like the TTS in theory but I don't get why it's so hard for that unit to stick to what it's sold as - a singing unit. I didn't like Twinkle much but at least it challenged them vocally. Holler on the the other hand was just a weird song that the whole group could've sang because it was more choreography and show than "vocals". And I've never seen anybody that actually likes the song. It's so bad I don't even understand how it got picked. All of TTS have said they want to do unplugged/acoustic style performances (like Cater 2 U) so why can't we get something like that? A slow or mid-tempo song with great harmonies or groove? I really think TF needs to step away from the styling and musical direction. It was good she got a chance to try with the past couple comebacks but overall I think it's better to bring in someone with a more sophisticated vision. TTS' dramatically over-glitzy and all-over-the-place look and sound is not SeoTae's style at all. I don't think it's a rumor and I think it's best at this point to just go along with whatever Seohyun is doing. We know she knows how to get the things she wants when the time is right. Let the annoying people be annoying. She knows what she is doing. I agree I would rather have her doing individual activities but who knows, maybe this will be a better comeback.

June 30 is her movie release, I wonder if they will promote it still and she might have a chance to do a small birthday fan meet in China... There's also her Moon Lovers filming schedule to consider...will she be free... Sunny did a volunteer things with fans instead of Coex party so I guess there are other ways of getting together but I....don't really want that kind of event for her though it's definitely a good cause. I don't know if she wants to be around fans on that kind of level either. I really hope she finds another place or time for a party, where she can perform. I think Seohyun herself would look forward to it most.
