I don't know where to address this since I don't go on the Somi thread and it seems there are no other threads for that. Have you guys been watching Sister Slam Dunk Season 2 with Somi? I think it's pretty interesting. We learn a bit more of the behind the scenes of the trainee world. Like diet wise and what they are taught during lessons. One thing really stood out to me about Somi when it comes to her vocal training and since it's a spoiler of the show I will put it in spoiler

Yep and Oricon shows a more accurate picture of the fandom than Billboard Japan. The smaller the gap between the two is, the better it is. That means that GOT7 barely relies on gimmicks to sell in Japan! (only 5K difference)

Yeeeep. They said they want to make the sales "about the music not the gimmicks" so they did that I understand the argument, but now they dont reflect real sales. So Billboard Japan is more reliable than Oricon now.

It started happening sometime in 2016. Like mid 2016 maybe? Oricon implemented a rule to weed out gimmicks to inflate sales (it sorta does work, it sorta does not). It mainly applies to bulk buying. Recently they clarified the part that includes sets. So example a CD that has 5 different covers but the content is the same, when you used to buy all 5 together, it counted as 5 sales. Now, it counts as 1 sale. Let's say there are once again 5 different covers, but one of the CD has different content, once again, you buy all 5, that would count as 2 sales. To see the real numbers, now, you have to on Billboard Japan. They put out 3 days sales and 1 week sales. They use the same system Oricon used to have before. It's complicated.... but to put it simply.... This single has 5 versions right? All 5 versions have same content or different content? If all 5 versions have same content and somebody goes to buy the 5 together, instead of being counted as 5 sales, it's counted as 1 sale.

Oh by the way I went and looked at the real first week sales of Hey Yah (basically, Oricon sales aren't "real" anymore. they applied restrictions that lowers numbers. A group currently promoting has 65K sales on Oricon, and 142K sales in reality.) So the news might be good or bad (depending of how much you hate Hey Yah LOL), but Hey Yah is GOT7's best selling Japanese CD with 47K sales in their first week (instead of the recorded 42K sales for Oricon).

Hi guys, I dont know if many of you are really familiar with Japan's sales chart, but Oricon has applied a restriction to sales. Basically bulk buying doesn't reflect on Oricon. To know the real sales of UP10TION, it's better to look at the numbers Billboard Japan put out since they still use the old system of Oricon (basically Billboard Japan = Hanteo (not GAON/shipments but real codebar sales), Oricon = a restricted Hanteo). I'm not a fan of UP10TION but I thought I'd share their 3 days sales numbers from Billboard Japan with you guys since no one has yet ^^ 3/6~3/8 #1 UP10TION / ID - 144,730 #2 Morning Musume. Well, Fly and Hard Carry actually depict the same event with different imagery. So it makes sense that Never Ever does the same thing. Basically the MVs aren't a continuum (fly --> hard carry --> never ever) but exactly the same event with different imagery (so fly = hard carry = never ever). when you take like that, it makes sense that no matter the set/mv Youngjae is the one to saves trapped Jinyoung (box smashing). that jaebum is the one inside the car (fly and never ever) since he was the driver. that jinyoung isn't in the same state as the others (can't fly, in the cage, at the emergency room) in all three mvs

but then we will be competing with groups that release the following week and its not such a good idea... better aim to get wins for the week following the come back than the next because it will be harder
