So I was really active here when ygtb was airing, ahhh good times. Anyway I didn't think this day would come but I can't believe the boys are finally debuting! I'll admit I fell out of the fandom but I'm back in full force now woo!
-
I was hoping for him to keep his black hair for debut, but honestly he could cut all his hair off and I wouldn't care because we're getting a solo debut and that's all that matters!

[Mnet Survival Reality Show] I-LAND Official Thread!
Kitsune replied to bustahjoong's topic in Variety Shows
7 is good yes! I stan groups of all different sizes, its just with this show I wanted more to make it. Hmm okay then this is really confusing. I thought we knew this was the case too. The confusion comes from the show itself saying that 12 members will be making it to the second part for a "chance" to debut. Which makes it sound like not all of them will make it. You could also take it as the boys have a chance to debut and might not debut at all but I don't think that's what it means lol. This second part of the competition is just a bit confusing but I'm sure they'll explain it when the time comes xD -

If it isn't a 12 member group I would like it to be at least 9 members, but 7 would be okay I suppose. I just thought we would have more than that. Luckily my faves would mostly fit into a smaller group but who knows. Perhaps the final group number hasn't been decided yet, and will depend on how the boys do in part 2? Could be interesting to have an unknown debut number until the last test or whatever. I guess we'll see! -

Okay I'm curious. This final test is for the final 12 to move on to part 2 for a chance to debut. Does that mean the final group won't be 12 members like we thought? They are making it sound like 12 are moving on but if they were going to be the final group then why would they need a part 2 of the competition? Hmmmm. -
I really should tbh lol

I know they recommend not wearing the medical ones, but we had a box of them that we bought years ago for something else so I've been wearing those. I need to get a cloth one though.

Back when I first joined group threads were SO active. I remember when Seventeen had their first comeback and we were all going crazy and you could barely keep up with the pages and pages of replies. Almost every group thread was active and updated and just you always had someone to spazz with about new things. I've always been a lurker on and off, but I knew whenever I came back I'd have people to talk to in my bias group threads. You can still find that, but not to the same degree. Sometimes I'll go to a group thread after a new comeback and there will be barely any new posts which is surprising. Honestly I think the site being down for so long and not knowing if it would come back really hurt it, probably too much to ever come back to the way it used to be. I still lurk, and post occasionally for certain things but I do miss the old days.

Omgosh yes that is perfect, definitely me tbh

Hey! I'm kinda late to this. I'm usually a lurker so wasn't going to join but I finally decided to stop being lazy. Soooo yeah hello! :3

Oooo this is fun.

I missed talking about EP.3, so I'll just skip to EP.4 lol. Quick thoughts! I preferred the Grounder's version of FIRE, though both did well! I LOVE K SO MUCH! He might end up being my fave. Please reunite K and Ta-ki I'm loving how both sides are starting to have more of a equal bond, no matter who changes within them. Both vocal stages were good, I don't know which I like more! Sunoo really surprised me tbh. Looking forward to the dance stages next episode! Why was Jay switched out though? I wanna know! Also, I don't like to down anyone. But Seon really annoys me. I feel like he is totally just coasting through this competition. I haven't seen anything remarkable from him yet. I even forget he is there. It is just like he is becoming buddies with anyone and everyone so they won't vote for him. I just feel like someone else should be in his spot. I won't change my mind until he shows me something or some sort of potential. I just can't ignore the way he kind of manipulates? Idk I don't want to be mean x.x -
Every day. I'll go to youtube planning on watching just for awhile. I start watching certain types of videos...3 hours later and I'm still watching but have no idea how I got to such different videos (example: starting on something Kpop related, and ending up on someone making a giant wizard staff...). It is always a fun and wild ride lmao!

Okay wow, just finished watching ep. 2. I don't even know where to start. I'm going to try to keep this a bit more brief than my thoughts on ep. 1, but so much happened! I'm starting to get more of a feel for all of their personalities now. I really don't think changing the center was a good idea. Heeseung was perfect for the part. I get why Youngbin felt a bit humiliated and didn't like being evaluated one at a time since his experience is pretty low. He is one of my faves, but I don't think getting everyone to change the center was the best idea. Heeseung is a good all-rounder with experience. Sure you can not like his training style...so just pick someone else to teach? Just cause he got center didn't mean he had to coach everyone. They should have picked parts and then went "So who wants to be in charge of leading the practice?" I just feel like things could have gone much better if they would have kept the original center. No shade on Ni-ki, I actually really like him. He just needs to work more on his vocals and facial expressions. (also throwing poor Ta-ki under the bus! Though that sweetie still is his number 1 fan and that is so cute.) And then I'll just do some quick-fire type thoughts. I love Rain's coaching style! I hope we see Zico come teach as well as others. I didn't think much of Jay last episode, but him not giving up was both heartbreaking but also impressed me. Add him to my faves list! Not sure how I feel about Seon, as in the way he handles things... I did NOT expect so many of them to be dropped! 6? Whoa. I really hope EJ and Ta-ki come back, I haven't decided on the others yet. Though I really enjoy the bond that the Grounders have. I wish the I-Landers had a bit more of that bond. Everything seems so stressed and so much tension. I get it, it is a competition. But they need to get closer! New faves from this episode: Jay, Daniel, and K. My other faves are still Heeseung, Sunghoon, Jake, Youngbin, EJ , and Ta-ki. I haven't picked an official fave yet but we'll give that time. Also I know they focused A LOT on certain members because of the drama and such. I just hope they start giving more screen time to some of the other members so we can get to know them better. I really want to see more of Jake/Sunghoon/Nicholas/ect. I hope they don't keep focusing on the same ones for drama sake but we'll see. Come on BigHit, you couldn't afford to make a bunk-bed style room for the Grounders to sleep in? They really gotta leave and come back every day? I look forward to more performances so we can see more of their skills and style. All in all another solid episode. I think the boys did well for this first test but I am interested to see how things will mix up when they switch 6 of them out. Curious to see how the group dynamic will change. See you next episode! -

2010 - I was a senior in high school, shy, not many friends but a few that really counted. 2020 - Now I'm 28, work from home, only have friends online, but now have money that I can spend to support my favorite groups. I honestly really haven't changed in the 10 years of being a kpop fan. My bias list has grown a ton, I have a lot of new groups I like and some older groups I started out with I don't really follow as closely as I once did.

Yeah I do think as time goes on the voting will get better, I just think they were pretty overwhelmed about having to vote that way too tbh lol. I really do think private voting will work best. I do look forward to see who bonds with who and how their relationships evolve! I expect tears which is always fun T__T I only watched the performances for RTK so didn't know they did it there! Hmm maybe the boys will get to see how we voted and that will help them decide? Or maybe our votes will have some kind of power, but then that would defeat the peer voting thing so I'm not sure! Yeah that's understandable. I wish they would upload the unedited cuts of the performances from the first episode at least! Hopefully you're right though so let's see how it goes next time they perform. Fingers crossed! -

Wow. Okay I watched the first episode. I feel like I could right a lot about it but I'm going to try to keep this brief lol. First of all, I knew this concept and theme was going to be interesting, but WOW it is so cool! Like they went way beyond what I was expecting. The budget that went into this...like damn. The technology, the way it literally feels like a movie. The whole facility and the way you get into different parts of it. You can tell so much planning went into this and it really shows. The boys initial reactions to seeing the building and going inside was so freaking cute and funny! Now onto the competition itself. I really wish we got to see more of the performances, it jumped around a bit too quickly for me to really fully get a grasp on everyone's skill. I'm also shocked they had them vote for eachother by raising hands. I was never picked back in school when things were done like this so I think it probably felt a little humiliating for those who didn't make it. I would have much preferred if they had buttons in their hands or something they could tap but not be so obvious. Cause like they said, seeing others raise their hands urged others to and I think it would have been much more honest (as it did later) if they could have voted in a different way. I do like the idea of the boys being able to decide the ideal group, but also think they'll start to vote for friends or units they were in (or they could be more like Niki who put his friendship aside in the end). I hope the voting continues to go like it did in the end, in private, that way the boys won't feel pressured or guilty doing it in front of the others. I also felt super bad for the ones who were sent to Ground and couldn't experience the amazement with the other boys in I-Land. I was wondering what that building in the back was. I'm glad they'll still have a chance, but man that must be a bummer. Even more of a bummer for the 4 that got to see the good life and will have to go to Ground lol. I'm really looking forward to see what will happen next. Like if they'll have missions, and how they'll go about deciding who gets out of Ground. This show has had so many awesome things so far, so I have high hopes for what they'll do next. My biggest wish is just for better performances next time PLEASE! Now onto faves. This is kind of hard since we didn't get that much for the first episode. They were all nervous and the editing was choppy, but I'll just go with who I liked the most on first impressions. Jake, Youngbin, Sunghoon, Heeseung, and EJ are my faves, also Taki/Niki are my children and I want to protect them. This is all just first impressions really so once I get to know them all better and see more of their skills I can start to make a list of who I want to be in the debut team. I'm sure it'll begin to get hard to pick! Remember when I said I would keep it brief? HAHA woops! Sorry! TL:DR - I really enjoy the concept and all the technology and stuff. Still kind of iffy on the voting system but think it is something fresh and new. Need better editing on the performances. All in all, a good first episode! -

I haven't watched much yet since I'm hoping for a full episode with subs to come out. I'd rather watch it in its entirety instead of just clips. I'm not able to watch when it is live so I hope they upload it. -

This is such an interesting and fresh concept and I am so excited! I had told myself to stop putting myself through these survival shows, but I'll give it one last chance with I-Land. The facility looks SO awesome and you can definitely see the budget that went into it. Definitely get some Big Brother/The Challenge vibes from the place. I also love how it is really futuristic looking but also in the middle of nature which is a great combo. The boys did look nervous, but I don't really blame them. This is a lot to take in! I look forward to how the episodes will be structured and how the competition will go. I had a feeling the final group would be 12 members, since it had started originally with 24 that was going to be my guess. At least that is a better chance for our faves to make it in!
