  1. I used to check OneHallyu first thing as I open my eyes in the morning. Looking back, OneHallyu has been such a big part of my youth and k-pop fan journey in general. It was a splendid journey to be SLY, the messy fan of groups you guys probably never heard about. Thank you to my OH!Press family, my bias thread's residents, to all people who worked hard making OneHallyu stay afloat, and to OneHallyu for all the memories. Who would've thought saying goodbye to a messy k-pop forum will be so sad?
  2. I haven't listened to either groups' b-sides except the ones they also promoted (Blue Flame for LE SSERAFIM and Same Same Different and Feelin So Good for CLASS:y) but I'd say out of the songs Same Same Different sounds the best. I think Shut Down tried to replicate the impact of SSD being progressively loud but failed in making it natural and controlled and ended up being too loud and noisy. Blue Flame should've been chosen for title track instead of SSD and CLASS:y's debut should've been a less noisy Shut Down. For styling, god, it's hideous. Chaewon and Hyungseo (Jimin too if only she was given better styling unlike what she looked like in MTG) looks fine but the rest looks really tacky...
  3. The problem with Fearless is that it's not even three minutes yet it feels like you've listened to the same part for hours....
  4. LE SSERAFIM - Fearless CLASS:y - Shut Down I've been following the two groups out of the tons of new debuts because LE SSERAFIM has Chaewon and Sakura (I'm a WIZ*ONE) while I watched After School Excitement (God, I hate the name MTG) which formed CLASS:y. The two groups debuted at the same time but have very different vibes. They're on very different magnitudes success/popularity wise but let's compare them casting fame aside, you know, for fun. Was originally intending this to be an OH!Press article but I'd like to see people discuss (if y'all are still alive) about it more. SONG: I'm pretty disappointed with both songs, to be honest. I didn't have any expectations for a good song anyways being that Source Music is now under HYBE who we know was never the company for goods songs now whereas CLASS:y is under an MBK subsidiary nobody knows about. Music taste wise, I'd go for Fearless because if I am to choose between loud or minimalist, I'll choose the minimalist song but Fearless is too monotonous and flat that even if it is not even three minutes yet it feels so long and repetitive. Shut Down suffers from an entirely different problem with it being too loud but at least it has progression. I may say though, both hooks are catchy with Fearless' ba ba ba ba bam and Shut Down's shut down, shut down. BETTER SONG: SHUT DOWN VOCALS: Before anyone goes after me for trying to look for vocals, I'm dissecting this from a listener's POV. Fearless barely shown any of the singing talents of the members while Shut Down does it impeccably. I know that Chaewon and Yunjin are skilled in singing as a Produce 48 viewer so I expected them to have vocal highlights in the song but there weren't any. What's worse is that the other members barely got to sing with distinction. I already know about Chaewon, Yunjin, and Sakura, give me something more about the new ones. Is it because of the poor song choice or is it because the other members' just aren't good or don't have unique voices? Shut Down on the other hand really did great, though I'll attribute it to the group having 6 out of 7 members who were main vocalists in MTG. Chaewon as the main vocal did great but Jimin, Boeun, Riwon, and Hyungseo also got to show their skills. BETTER VOCALS: SHUT DOWN DANCE: Fearless was simpler and minimalist while Shut Down looks very tiring and bombastic. Both choreos are really good but I prefer how clean Fearless's choreo looks like and how the girls executed it. Shut Down has a really tiring choreo and being freshly debuted rookies, CLASS:y are already doing a great job but could improve in creating a cleaner stage. Props to Hyeju's performances always though, never really disappoints! BETTER DANCE: FEARLESS (if you remove that random ugly leg split) STYLING: I'm really not a big fan of LE SSERAFIM's outfits and styling but I can see why it would look pretty for others. I'd prefer it if they gave Chaewon a better hairstyle, I don't know if it's a deliberate choice to make her stand out less(?), and give Yunjin less revealing clothes, I don't know if it's her performance itself but her overall look stands out in a negative way. I really love Garam's black half-dress though! For CLASS:y, I need to have a fight to the death with whoever did their hairstyles- a total mess! Jimin looks like she's left in their MTG era, Boeun looked pretty without the red highlights, Hyeju does NOT fit short hair, and Seonyu... god... why did they give her goldilocks hair?! Their outfits are really good and well-coordinated but the styling department don't seem to know what type of look they want to give the girls. If it was a school concept, they should've left it at that, if it was an elegant concept, they should've left it at that, if it was a girl crush concept, they should've left it as that. Also for some reason, CLASS:y looks very tacky. Maybe it's just Seonyu's uglyass hair or the fact that Riwon, Boeun, and Seonyu literally looks like children (their age) you can confuse it for an elementary school talent show at first look. If you compare both groups side by side, LE SSERAFIM looks like the pretty senior girls from the most expensive high school ever while CLASS:y looks like the prettiest group of students from an elementary school. BETTER STYLING: LE SSERAFIM MV: I expected LE SSERAFIM's MV to be good and high quality since they're from a very rich company and the music video didn't disappoint. I'm in love with the cuts inside the gym specially when they acknowledge the camera from behind while "dance practicing". For CLASS:y though, I had no ounce of expectation for a good MV but Shut Down is surprisingly good and well made. At first I raised my eyebrows at the zombie concept but then the MV turned out very fun and exciting. It's also a good allusion to the meaning of the song. BETTER MV: EQUAL OVERALL I think I prefer CLASS:y's debut a little bit more than LE SSERAFIM. The song was able to bring out their talents and considering how young half of them are, shows great promise and potential to be even better. The song choice gave a big impact and by how forgettable Fearless is as a debut song, SouMu should've known better given how impactful Glass Bead was. What do you think?
  5. Hush > Something > Alone Alone and Something are interchangeable based on my mood but Hush is an easy win
  6. visual center won jimin singing mamamoo's decalcomanie
  7. Yes as a Chaewon stan I can confirm that Chaewon has been copying Yurina's "long black hair with pronunced bangs" since she was a child I don't give a single fuck about Source Music and I literally hate everything about HYBE but it's an insult to THE Kim Chaewon to say she's copying someone who in no offence is less relevant than her for whatever purpose.
  8. I'm not very familiar with WJSN anymore since I wish. I've read that the Chinese members joined Chinese Produce etc. but that's how far as I know. Can someone tell me the situation of WJSN right now?
  9. All Rocket Punch albums only have one version!
  10. Lovelyz with Sujeong, Yein, Mijoo, Jisoo, and Jiwoo... Or maybe just the whole group?
  11. Smh and this boy just graduated high school
  12. I believe CLASSy will debut under Pocketdols Studio which is like an MBK subsidiary?
  13. I found this tweet discussing about the money spent during the text voting and it appears that the top aside, Yooyeon is the most voted for (next is Youngchae) to whom about $1,346 was spent. If they're really going to expand the group to accommodate other talented trainees (that's the general idea based on the article), then it means Yooyeon wouldn't be in it, but then again the amount of money spent for Yooyeon is too big to be ignored. Mind that Yooyeon would have debuted (Riwon's spot) if it wasn't for the final mission benefit. Maybe if it's an 11 membered group, I wouldn't mind having Yooyeon in it, but I really really do prefer the likes of Youngchae, Mihee, Yunseo, and Hyunhee to be added instead.
  14. If they're going to be making it 11, they should add Mihee, Hyunhee, Yunseo, and Youngchae! Though I don't see the additional slots happening...
  15. I’d trade Riwon for Youngchae or Minami any time of the day but I don’ think that’s the case. Riwon IS very popular, maybe not to the international fans but domestically, she is. If I remember correctly, she’s consistently the highest ranking 2nd grader except for one time Jimin was above her. Also Lions team performed way better than Sonic Boom so that part is justifiable, or at least any team could’ve won and not spark suspicion because they honestly did quite well. But yeah, Riwon’s spot could’ve went to Youngchae or Minami and that would’ve been way better.
  16. Seonyu and Hyeju can cover rap but Hyunhee and Yunseo could've been a better pick for that...
  17. It's not my ideal lineup but I think it could've been worse. There are only two first graders but that's already too many, I'll gladly take Seonyu out for Hyunhee or Yunseo. I feel sad for Yooyeon because this is her only shot but she's too lacking to debut at this point. Jimin taking the 1st place was so shocking though! I had bad feelings when there were only two remaining spots and Seonyu and Chaewon weren't called yet so I thought they'd battle out for the 1st place. Chaewon pulled the Xiaoting card in the end there...
  18. Since O.O was released I abhorred every single part of the song except the superhero part. Someone made an edit on YouTube and it sounds AMAZING.
  19. After IZ*ONE's disbandment, Minju and Hyewon are promoting as actresses, Sakura returned to Japan and left again to train at Korea with Chaewon, Nako and Hitomi returned to Japan, Chaeyeon joined Street Woman Fighter, Yujin and Wonyoung debuted in IVE. While HYBE is wasting Chaewon's talent and time, three IZ*ONE members have already debuted as soloists. Before voting, try to listen to these songs again first. Kwon Eunbi - Door Jo Yuri - Glassy Choi Yena - SMILEY Which of the three IZ*ONE soloists' debut songs for you is the best? Honestly, they're all neck to neck because I love all of them almost equally. I normally listen to Glassy the most because it's exactly my style of music: sweet, simple, and colorful, quite similar to some of Lovelyz and April. Smiley is crazily addicting and is definitely a mood-lifter while Door is that song that I want to listen to when I am working or doing any type of activity, it gives me Lee Hi vibes. If I am to choose one though, I'd say Door because of that ridiculously good instrumental chorus(?) by the end. I almost chose Glassy because of how much it grew on me but after listening again to all three, Door is the best. HBU?
  20. This is why I'll never understand the people who say miss A became popular because of Suzy... miss A literally debuted with the biggest song of the year, how deluded are you to attribute their collective success to only one member? Bad Girl Good Girl today still SLAPS. I miss miss A so much...
