I've been seeing conflicting reports about the "free" game you get with nintendo's online subscription. First it was confirmed that you only get the game for one month and then you have to buy it. Then today i'm seeing that it's confirmed to work like ps+ and Gold where you get to keep the game as long as you are subbed. Idk

Stuff from the last couple of years that i liked: Mr. Nietzsche in the Convenience Store. The type of humor in it is definitely not everyone's style but i enjoy it. It's from the same person behind the Yuusha Yoshihiko series, Kids Police, Hentai Kamen, Jossy's, and he's also directing the Gintama LA. If you like those check it out. I also highly recommend checking it out because Matsui Rena is fucking hilarious in it. Best part of the show are her scenes. Dear Sister is what got me back into jdramas after being uninterested for a while. I'm also a Satomi fan so i might be biased. A Love That Makes You Cry just the tone and feel of this drama had me. It felt serious, sad, and heavy but not really melodramatic. I can't really explain it. Ishi no Mayu (a sequel came out this last year under the name Suisho no Kodo too) I'm a fan of crime dramas and movies but dislike the episodic stuff that japan seems to love. So this was good because it's one case. Good Morning Call can be fun if you like older cheesy romcoms like ItaKiss. Koinaka i think others don't like as much but stories about best friends who secretly like each other are my weakness so i enjoyed it. Also Honda Tsubasa is in it so i might be biased again here. Transit Girls is about two girls who become stepsisters and fall in love. Not anything amazing but it's different for being about a same-sex relationship and was good enough. Then these are stuff i've started and liked but haven't finished. They seem well liked though: Juhan Shuttai Nobunaga Concerto Thunderbolt Fantasy (idk what category this falls under but i'll add it as a drama)

Any interesting looking dramas for this season btw? i haven't even checked yet since last season has burned me with the lack of subs. Jimi ni Sugoi and Yuusha Yoshihiko 3 still haven't finished being subbed yet. I might wait until dramas are done from now on.

I'm halfway through the second season of Ishi no Mayu. I am enjoying it but i got a little distracted with anime and was watching a lot of Kuroko lol. Also i got annoyed when the other department was keeping stuff from them and not helping each other. That stuff really bothers me in these types of shows.

Tenno no Ryoriban and Tonbi got a lot from what i remember: Or they are highly rated at least. Tonbi is from 2013 but close enough to 3 years. I haven't watched the first one and only watched the first ep of the second so i don't really have an opinion on either of them. These involve crime or yakuza in one way or another: Confessions Snow White Murder Case World of Kanako (Hard for me to say whether this is good or not but it's a dark, twisted experience lol) Outrage Why Don't You Play In Hell? There's also some good dramas like: Shokuzai Ishi no Mayu Hitorishizuka Byakuyako Ouroboros seems pretty popular but it felt a bit too idol-y for me. Just the tone didn't feel quite right. Does Mother count as crime? A teacher kidnaps one of her students and raises her. Ok it doesn't count because it's more of a melodrama but it's my favorite drama and i just wanted to take my chance and recommend it
-
Outside of the idol-y and young adult type movies there's a lot of crime movies or the weirder or surreal type movies. Those are enjoyable but i wouldn't call them masterpieces. You could check out some of the slice of life drama type movies i guess like Umimachi Diary and Like Father Like Son. Probably don't fit what you're looking for though. Since you named some chinese movies though, i highly recommend watching the two Red Cliff movies and In The Mood For Love. They are regarded as some of the best chinese movies and are some of my favorite. The Grandmasters might be up there too.

Like colorful artsy type historical movies? I'm not familiar with any japanese movies like that. Here are some historical movies though in case they might interest you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgPC74-Tde8 I liked the first 2 movies. I haven't actually watched the third one yet. I've been meaning to for years but never got around to it.

I miss Ariel already T__T

As someone who isn't a big fan of Mario or Zelda, this is the appeal of the Switch to me. When it starts to get jrpgs and adventure games or VNs that would normally come out on the 3ds that's when i'll be interested. The new Mario and Zelda look like they could be good but to me they are games that i would play if i have the system, but i don't care enough to get the system to play them if that makes sense.

Looks like Nintendo confirmed the Switch lineup. I got this pic from Eurogamer. 5 launch games. Edit: Oh i didn't see there was a thread for this already. My bad. I think you'd be lucky to be $100 honestly. Maybe more or less depending if it's just the console or if games are included. You could check craigslist to see what people are selling theirs for though.
-
Damn so it is just Zelda then if those smaller games aren't launch games. Those ports still might be though but they're just ports. They need to offer more benefits for the monthly subscription than nes/snes games, especially if you get access to one for a month and then a different one the next month. That's if i heard that correctly. Edit: Nope. I just saw the Elder Scrolls account tweet out that Skyrim is fall release. Ahh that's good. I never had a WiiU.
-
What is the launch lineup besides Zelda? That weird motion game collection, Arms, Splatoon maybe, and.......The ports probably like Skyrim and Disgaea? That does seem weak. So people are basically buying this new console for one game, which is Zelda. That's not enough to get me excited. The whole thing was pretty underwhelming to me. They didn't talk about the console itself nearly enough and everything they did say was presented better in the trailer from before. I did miss some of it so maybe i missed some info, but are there still friend codes? Are they improving their store and internet? Is everybody going to have to rebuy all their virtual console games because games are tied to the console and not the accounts? Is that going to change because it has to. Things need to connect to an account instead. No specs that i saw. The important stuff you need to know to spend $300 wasn't given. It was just, here's Zelda and Mario. Go buy.

Oh i forgot they were remaking it. That's cool but i already did all the routes. I would be cool to get a new anime/movie too. I forgot all about Mahoyo. I remember being kinda excited about it. Looks like it's still only partially translated though.

Fate/Zero is the only Fate/ series i like because it's the only mainline series without Shirou There's so many Fate/ projects. I realize it's popular but i wish they'd try to make something new for Tsukihime. Or something else in the Kara no Kyoukai universe.

Supposedly Microsoft and Platinum clashed on certain things and that caused problems. People are saying that Microsoft has taken down all official Scalebound trailers and stuff from their youtube too.

a new MV for a song off of Hello Nico's ep from last year. It takes a while to get going and took a couple of listens for me to warm up to it.

lol yea. Though it feels almost ok for them to milk it since they're a small company and i don't blame them for trying to capitalize on 3 and 4's popularity. They're still pretty niche too. Could just be the Atlus fanboy in me talking though haha.
-
Only one ep is out currently. I'm not sure if there will be a full series or not later but i assume there will be since 3 and 4 have series + movies.

ahh yea spoilers mean different things to different people. I only care about story spoilers for story heavy games like rpgs or VNs or something. But i know some people don't even like to see what a boss or environments looks like. Mechanical and gameplay spoilers like that i don't really mind but i can see why others would. lol yea. Definitely, definitely don't read youtube comments if you want to avoid spoilers. Comment sections in general but mostly youtube and sometimes twitch chat.

After going through a bunch of game of the year coverage and stuff, i was surprised to hear Let It Die being brought up multiple times for best soundtrack categories. Japanese games with orchestral music is kinda normal for those types of discussions but this is a game with 100+ japanese bands on the OST. Songs from different subgenres of rock with english and japanese vocals are on it. It's cool to see people in twitch chat hearing the songs and asking about the music too instead of just calling it weeb shit like they normally do. a trailer and an interview

I just looked it up. It wasn't an april fool's joke but it was only a rumor that Nintendo denies. Well, they said the original article was based off incorrect information, which isn't outright denying the rumors. So maybe something could happen later and they're just not ready to announce yet. Who knows. I'm not talking about that IGN april fool's trailer btw. I feel like spoilers aren't as big a problem as people make it out to be. It was very easy to avoid FFXV spoilers. I haven't seen any spoilers on Persona 5 either. It seems like if you just don't follow assholes on twitter or go out of your way to read youtube and reddit comments, then you're kinda safe? Idk. I haven't had any issues avoiding spoilers when i want to avoid them.

"what other companies do which is to announce a project that you may not see for five, six years. It’s just not the way we do things." - Reggie Fils-Aime Zelda was announced in 2013. It's not quite 5/6 years but 4 is close enough. While on the topic of Zelda, does anybody remember that live action netflix Zelda series that was announced that was supposedly Game of Thrones for the whole family? I randomly remembered this a while back. It was announced and then just disappeared. That's kinda normal for tv and movies announcements though.

I still like both of the albums though. But yea, more ballads in both of them would have been nice. I'm kinda ok with Shi Shi's album though because good cpop ballads are easier to find than good upbeat cpop songs. It's the opposite for japanese music. Good upbeat/rock japanese songs are easier to find compared to good japanese ballads these days. So i wish Aimer stuck to ballads more than Shi Shi.

I've had this as my sig for a few months. I don't remember a bald guy... This was my last sig i think It is a Dark Souls x One Punch Man crossover that is hilarious if you recognize the references but most people probably don't. Or at least it is to me haha. Saitama is bald tho. So maybe that's what you're thinking about lol.
