They are a bit more subculture, but they are gaining momentum. These types of songs are driven in the same way as the gufeng (ancient sound/music genre): a community of individuals usually with a specific skill like composing, arranging, tuning, artistry, lyric writing collaborating to create both fan music for novels and stories, as well as creating their own original songs. The mainstream cpop music machine isn't really a part of it. That's why I'm appreciative of tencent reaching out to these little artists and giving them a wider audience through their animations/promotions.
And I was thinking Seven Sense too due to not just the gufeng touch, but the way the singing was executed.
I still haven't listened to the songs you posted yet, I'm in a deadly exam season nonstop studying for hours T__T Hopefully it'll end this Friday for good. If I listen to new songs I end out focusing only on listening. I'm fueling myself with Wang Fei nostalgia lmao haha
You're not leeyuuh from r/cpop are you? I check there every once in a while and saw that person posting some of the songs you posted earlier. And the similar name too lol.

New Frandé!
New album out in May~

It was basically True Crime HK though so it was always going to be that kind of style. I think it would have found its feet more with a sequel but it won't get the chance.
Of course I would have loved if they'd have gone full blast and made it all in Cantonese but that would make it even more of a niche game. Look how good the latest Yakuza was and it still flops in most countries outside Japan. It's tough to find that balance.
By the way have you (or anyone reading this) seen the HK movies Love in a Puff and/or Love in the Buff? Because the third movie is coming and those movie's are pretty great.
i know but i just wanted to like it and couldn't. The arkham combat really bores me too. Also i love the Yakuza games and it's what i personally wanted haha.
I downloaded both of them a long time ago but never watched. Western tv series have been so good lately that i focus more on it than asian movies and dramas now. Everybody should watch Westworld btw~

Give them a whole album to get it right. Call it Jolva. Or Elvin . Then when it's a hit we can convince Leehom and Jay to team up. ;)
Leehom did a collab recently with a rapper and i can kinda see Jay swapped in there instead
I don't care for this song tho lol.

those anime jrock sounding songs are interesting. I haven't heard cpop that has gone for that sound before. But wow, i really like the 三無 song :O Probably better than anything Astro Bunny has done. It's like a more electronic Seven Sense.
For recent releases, i recommend checking out the Zooey Wonder album. It's kinda soft rock like Hello Nico but also gets more electronic at times. Mix of english and mandarin songs.

I wonder if they would even make a good duo. I know a lot of people like the Jolin x Namie collab but i thought it was super disappointing.

The game is great. I can't complain about Donnie in that role, it's made for him even at his older age. John wick proves there's still an audience for some bad ass action movies and Donnie yen's fight scenes can be brutal. There hasn't been an English language HK action style movie in ages.
I would have preferred Nicholas Tse in the role but I understand he's unknown in the u.s and Donnie is on a hot streak.
I hope it lives up to the potential and would love to see Donnie have a real hit movie as a lead star.
I was really excited for the game but i was pretty disappointed in it. I was expecting Yakuza but got GTA with Arkham combat. It was also mostly in english with only some canto iirc.
But yea, Donnie makes perfect sense after being in a few hollywood movies recently. Daniel Wu would probably have a better chance than Nic because at least he's on Into The Badlands which comes back for another season later this month.

I was talking a lot of shit but i hope everyone enjoys Zelda and the Switch!

I'm still interested in getting it if they eventually get the VNs and jrpgs that would have normally released on 3ds.
-
Sleeping Dogs is getting a hollywood movie and will star Donnie Yen. If you don't know what it is, it's a video game that takes place in HK about triads and police and all that. It probably won't get as much attention as Mulan but i wanna see how they do this too.

I barely even attempt for plants these days but welp ... Lol xD
Stocks matter a lot too investors but with the way its going. Nintendo is just playing with them. I wouldn't be surprise if people just ignore it later on the lines.
I'm just hoping the 3ds isn't going to be the next victim since the switch is a hybrid. I know homebrewing was much easier on the wii u due too lack of support. Just look at Sony despite the vita "dying" their still updating their system. Making it at least more secure compare to Nintendo attempt.
Not too mention games being release for the wii u. There's not much compared too again Sony who relies mostly on third party games over in Japan too be ported and localised in the west
I have a love and hate relationship with Nintendo. Really enjoy their games yet what they do is unacceptable. Don't understand why such a company have such dark intention despite being aimed mostly at families.
They said they're going to keep supporting 3ds even with the Switch out. Nobody believes them of course because they said the same thing for the gba when the ds came out. It's kinda scummy and irresponsible to just say shit and not mean it. And for what? A few more units sold of an old system?

If Nintendo stop whoring out people than possibly fans outside might even have a chance to play it. For games that came out so long ago they still sell for a prem and it's going to be the same for BOTW and any new Switch/3ds/wii u games. honestly there's a massive fan base of Zelda and it's true that it's harder to get a good rating these days your points are valid. It might be their 'biggest game ever' but forking over 300+ just for a game and that's it really O.O when did our economy even become this rich to even spend so much money for a console and a game. The switch is pretty much a Zelda machine right now and only people that are fans (like many of the others from the reviewing place) have had their fair share of experience, Hell we don't even know if there's even any problem like the wii u game pad for instance.
That's called buyers mentality, forking over so much money buying the biggest game for the console and just using psychology to play the role of 'did I use the money wisely' Nintendo has actually been able to use it just to their own advantage for mostly their biggest Zelda fans. I really don't see any other reasons why anyone would pick up the switch until much later to be honest. Their stock prices even dropped from it all.
Stocks mean nothing really though. Proven by Nintendo stocks shooting up when Pokemon Go came out and then immediately dropped when people found out Nintendo only gets a fraction of the profits. It's all based off predictions and fears. More about perceived image than actual value it seems like.
But yea i have a lot of problems with Nintendo. It's understandable that they have their fans and supporters, but i do think their fans let nintendo get away with too much. Nintendo abuses their fans honestly. From saying they will continue supporting systems when they actually aren't. To taking money made from other people's youtube videos featuring nintendo games and acting like they are good guys by giving a percentage of the money to the content creator if they sign up for their program. They may make games people love but please do not just let their bullshit slide.

Nintendo doesn't need to pay people to give Zelda high scores because they have so many fanboys that will give it high scores regardless.

Half joking and half not at the same time lol. Obviously there are people that love the series but are able to see any faults it might have. But let's be real here, Nintendo has a very loyal and passionate fanbase who will love the game no matter what. They are also buying a Switch just for this game. $300 for the system, $60 for the game, and probably also $70 for a pro controller + tax. That's $450+ people are spending just to play this game. It's very possible that the amount of money invested into it will affect how they feel about the game and they might like it more so they feel better about their purchase.
I have never beaten a Zelda game. The series doesn't really interest me. I beat 3 dungeons in LTTP and that's the most i've ever gotten in a Zelda game. I tried playing OOT but i do not forgive old games for old mechanics/controls and I had a hard time playing that game. This new one is the most interested i've been in a Zelda game. But at the same time its fans go crazy over the trailers and i'm like, there's been crafting and climbing in games for a decade, what you freaking out about...

lmao the comments in that kickstand video. It's probably fine but i'm not sure why they don't have 2 just to give it more support. Or have it in the middle of the tablet. I don't think you would use the switch like that very often though. It's either docked or in your hands. Maybe for party games you'd use the kickstand?

Jolin's agent said yesterday that they only received "one or two good songs"

Man, it sounded like they were further along before. I thought it was almost done last year but had to be pushed to this year T__T
I'm fine with them being picky and trying to make sure the album is good tho.

The dream of a new Jolin and Elva album this year is in danger

i do torrents
Avistaz, nyaa, jdramacity.
doramax264 seems good though. small files and uploaded to a multimirror with some places with no wait times.
I've been a little paranoid to torrent after switching to Comcast. Probably worrying for nothing though but i'll still probably save torrents as a last resort.
I started Quartet now that it's a decent way in and subs look like they come out regularly. It was a good first ep. Instantly recognized that they were playing Dragon Quest music at the mall lol. And then they did the level up tune for the kids that were watching.

-
Where do you guys dl your raws from? Wondering if there's a better place besides doramax264. I know about jdramacity but looking for a non-torrent place preferably.
-

lol this looks so funny to me.
-
so this happened
I think it's the same song that a kpop girl did with him earlier. Looks like they're just recording different versions with a bunch of different singers from various countries.

has anyone been following the Twitch vs Yandere Simulator thing lol
-
Rakuen and Okaasan, Musume wo Yamete Ii desu ka along with Quartet are good
I was already planning to watch Okaasan and Quartet after more eps get subbed. I'll look into Rakuen. Thanks.
So is Tokyo Tarareba Musume not good? I haven't seen anybody talk about it.

I keep breaking my promise to myself and keep starting random ones every other week. I haven't followed jdramas long enough to work out if this is an unusually weak season or not.
what are the ones that are worth checking out?
