Palace three and its villain is the weakest part of the story imo.
honestly both palace 2's and 3's villain are weak to me compared to the first one. The boss fights were both kinda meh in them too.
I really like the game and have put in like 40 hours so far but there's something about it that's stopping me from loving it and these things aren't helping. Even the social links aren't as good i feel like. The game in general feels more big picture rather than personal and intimate like 4 was, and i think i prefer 4's style more so far. I'm only in july tho and things could definitely change as i keep playing.
-
just finished P5 palace 3
Makoto calls you and tells you that Kaneshiro turned himself in, the debt and photos are gone, and he is now in custody. Then she says she doesn't know if what they did worked yet and to wait and see. Wot? OTL
-
If you buy a high level persona @ the beginning it's a lot quicker. I completed the first 2 palaces in like 5 hours
ahhh that's good. But i don't know if i would do that, at least not right away. Maybe it's something i'd come back to later. There's already Trails in the Sky 3rd coming out soon that i want to play too as well as a ton of other games.
edit: Of course Rocket League goes on sale one week after i buy it full priced OTL. Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator is on sale though. I might jump on that. I have SFV but after messing around with it for a bit, it didn't grab me enough to keep playing.

I can tell I'm getting close to the end of Persona 5 and I've maxed very few links. It's really annoying how many nights you're forced to go to bed and not allowed to do anything.
This is very annoying. You're forced out of the palace multiple times and you're forced to go to sleep when you shouldn't other times. One night I wasn't able to do anything but sleep but they let me make tools for some reason. I was too tired to read a book or take a bath but not too tired to craft lockpicks?
It encourages you to do a second play through. There's quite a few trophies that require a 2nd play through. I'm on the third palace in my 2nd play through. I can knock down most palaces in one day sans the days it makes you stop with the way new game + works.
No way i'm gonna do a second play through of a 100+ hour game lol. I'll play and max whatever i can and be good with that.

Mementos feels like i'm playing 3/4's dungeons again lol. It's like an upside down tartarus. I wish you could do stuff afterwards. They're short and i feel like i should stay and fight for a while just to make it worth it and not feel like i wasted a day.

I think I really like Astro Bunny, but I haven't decided yet. But I know for sure that I love the singer's cat dress in
.三無 sounds good, and I agree it sounds like Astro Bunny but more layered. Astro Bunny electronics and sounds are actually very simple, which is part of why I'm not sure if I like them. It sounds like something anybody could do in a way.
But Astro Bunny songs are so catchy and well constructed. It's like they really know how to write a pop song. The fact that they make it sound easy is just more impressive in a way.
I like Astro Bunny a lot but i think they're a bit inconsistent. Sometimes they're really good but sometimes they're a little underwhelming. I'd agree that their stuff is a bit simple sometimes. The singer's previous band's music was kinda like that too. She was in a band called Cherry Boom that was kind of like a tamer, not as good version of Scandal or Stereopony (japanese girl bands)
my fave Astro Bunny song might be this tho~

Somewhat spoilers but I recommand maxing a certain teacher's social link since it allows you to still do stuff at night after going to a palace/momento
Yep, press the touch pad when you're prompted to select an answer and it'll show what the majority picked
Oh that would be nice to have.
lol that's funny and i will definitely take advantage of that from now on~
-
I assume mementos are side quests? Looks like a lot are tied to them, at least to max out. i don't usually do much side quests in games and never been a completionist. What i've done in 3 and 4 is just focus on party members i'm going to use, possible waifus, and if there's one that helps recover in dungeons.
-
Oh yeah that thing, I think some social links might be random? But yeah I mostly just use that online thing for class answers
Wait you can get the answers from it?
-
Press R1 for the map overview, then square to see what social links are available in what areas, if it says UP, it means the social link s ready to rank up
That's what i looked at earlier but his name would be listed on the online activity screen (when you click the touch screen) that shows what other players did during that day. It's weird and that's what confused me. I was wondering how other players were doing a social link with him that day but I couldn't. I'll just ignore that from now on then lol. Thanks.

I'm about 16 hours in and just after the first palace. Really liking it so far. The snapping onto walls and objects to sneak is a bit finicky though. I've gotten ambushed a couple times because of it.
How can you tell for sure if a social link is available that day? Ryuji has the icon on his head and the online activity screen will show that people spent time with him that day but it's actually not available. I think i'm just missing some little detail that tells you but idk what it is.

I forgot that i could always borrow games from my brother lol. Played a little bit of SFV last night and fucked around in practice mode for a bit. Will probably also hop on Overwatch sometime.
It's frustrating in the sense that it can be really hard to get certain collectables, but it always feels fair to me. For that reason you feel really good when you 100% a level. The OST is amazing, so I don't mind spending time exploring a level to find everything. But yeah I'm sure it'll be on sale pretty soon.
I came across Hollow Knight for the first time through EZA. It looks pretty good. Another indie game I really want to get on PS4 is Inside, which I'll probably pick up the next time it goes on sale.
Yea i meant hard. Speaking of EZA, i watched Kyle stream Snake Pass last week and i saw how hard getting 100% would be. He gave up after a while and said i'm not 100%ing this lol.
Night In The Woods is great. The dialogue is incredibly well written and the coming of age story is captured wonderfully. It's like Animal Crossing meets Skins.
I have Persona 5 ready to go once I've finished with Nier: Automata. I'm pretty much done but enjoyed it so much I wanna go back and do sidequests, even if most are generic fetch stuff. Also want to get Horizon Zero Dawn still. And Hollow Knight. And Detention. And Sexy Brutale. And Bayonetta on PC....
Got lucky in that my friend has agreed to stream his Prey playthrough for me so I can just watch him instead of having to play. Pretty great for me since I suck at things involving stealth.
Whoa Detention looks interesting. The animation and how the characters look kinda reminds me of The Cat Lady. I also want Horizon and Nier but they will have to wait. I've already spent too much money OTL.

I was thinking of getting Night in the Woods, but I'll probably wait until I'm done with Persona 5.
I don't know if you like platformers/collectathons at all, but Snake Pass is a really good indie game. I decided to get it on Switch for the portable aspect, but the PS4 version is the best console version.
I got Rocket League for free on PS4, but have yet to play it. If you want to add me, my psn username is hiken321.
Snake Pass looks fun (and frustrating). Looks like the kind of game i can wait for a sale on though. Same with Night in the Woods actually but i want to play it more. I also want Hollow Knight but its not out on ps4 yet i think.
I'll add you guys later tonight. I'll be MemryLost.
-
You getting persona 5 man?
Nice. You decided which games you're getting first?
I got the Uncharted 4 bundle so right now i have that plus i bought Persona 5 and Bloodborne~ That should last me a while in terms of the big games. I really want to play Night in the Woods also and my pc is too shit to play it so i might get that for a smaller game to play. Will probably get Rocket League just to play with my friends too.

Tell Nintendo that when they actually copyrighted far more than just 'one game' I do understand what you mean but when another massive company does it and people hail Nintendo as the 'best' company is just bull to be honest. I'm sure Atlus would lift it up like in a month or two time unless they actually follow Nintendo's pattern /:
Didn't you see the second part of my original post when i said this is almost as bad as nintendo taking revenue away from youtubers?
The people that call nintendo the best company are talking specifically about their games. But Nintendo is a shit company outside of that. I won't list out reasons why because i think we've talked about it before in here.
-
Enjoying persona 5, been playing since Monday. Atlus... Not sure what to say but who wants to watch a let's play when people who wants to enjoy it would play the game for themselves. I'm with atlus. Been over 4 years for me waiting for this game. Ps3 version was ever first and I'm pretty sure that console is a lot cheaper these days also have the game and ps4 version was to keep up with latest tech. People knew the game was going to be out for a while now. Besides when you buy a game you pretty much just lending the rights.
You're only looking at it from your own perspective. There are people that don't have money for entertainment. People that can't justify spending money on a game/console over more important essentials even if they could save up for it. There's also the fact that we live in the age of youtube and twitch. The idea that having these available will hurt sales is old thinking and wrong. People can watch a LP or stream and end up buying a game they initially had no interest in. It increases exposure and word of mouth for free. Not everybody know what Persona 5 is. There will be people that take one look at it and dismiss it as "anime bullshit" but watching their favorite youtuber or streamer play it could change that. Having streams and youtube videos are more helpful than it is harmful.
And the last part about rights, you're thinking about how things are instead of how things should be. And that's also more for non-drm free digital games and not physical ones.
-
I love Atlus and their games but this limitation on what you can stream and upload to youtube is the stupidest fucking thing. The reasoning about protecting spoilers and wanting people to experience it themselves is total bullshit too. People who are trying to keep away from spoilers wouldn't watch a Persona 5 stream or let's play. And the game is already out! I just can't with this. It's so dumb. How can you sell a game and then say enjoy BUT you can't do this, this, and this with it! OTL
Atlus why. This is as bad as nintendo taking other people's youtube revenue because the video features nintendo games. Is this actually a piracy thing or what? Are they trying to force people to buy the game instead of watching it all online? I am angry and disappointed.

"gameplay loop in a VN" sounds pretty funny to me lol. I still consider those more adventure games than VNs. Ace Attorney could very easily be a point & click adventure game i think. That's just my own lil pet peeve though.
And we were talking about rpgs and story driven games before. Of course it's perfectly fine to not care about the story in a non-story game like platformers, action, etc. Nobody gives a shit about saving peach in a mario game, you just want to run and jump.
-
Fair enough we all have different tastes, reminds me of this thread tbh
https://forum.psnprofiles.com/topic/43636-gameplay-vs-story-how-to-play-games-and-influence-people/
Yup. Also don't get me wrong, gameplay still needs to be good too. I'm not a fan of The Last of Us. Story seems good but i couldn't get into the gameplay so i never finished it.
-
So hyped for Persona 5! Almost done with Zelda so just in time, hopefully can finish Horizon too before then
Not really imo, story driven games like Uncharted, Witcher, Last of us etc needs a strong narrative to drive the game since the combat system is often really poor while JRPGs less so since they focus more on RPG gameplay, some of my fav JRPGs ever have crappy stories but I still love them cuz of everything else around it.
We play rpgs for very different reasons then. Rpgs are the definition of story driven games to me, not including subgenres like srpgs and dungeon crawling rpgs because those are different. I need a reason to play. I need to care about the characters and what i'm doing. To me, it might as well be an action game if the story doesn't matter.
Not saying you can't enjoy an rpg with a crappy story and fun gameplay, i just personally can't do it. It's a big reason why i don't like the KH series.
-
So, I'm playing FFXV right now and I honestly don't get the hate. Game looks pretty and the dialogue is decent as well. The story is kinda iffy. Not sure if watching the movie, future DLC's, installments or even reading lore will remedy that. The driving aspect is not even that bad. The only people hating it are people that play too much GTA. I don't think FF was ever or will ever be about driving. I am only on chapter 2 right now and as I progress further on in the game I might have a different opinion.
It's a jrpg. If the story is iffy then the game as a whole is iffy. Even wondering whether or not outside material is required to understand the story is a huge negative too. And from what i hear, it is almost required to watch Kingsglaive, which is a bad move.

i'm going to get a ps4 sometime next month. What are your guy's game recs? Specifically older games, not all the recent ones from this year.
I already know what games i'm interested in but just in case there's something i'm forgetting or don't know. Basically going to get Persona 5 and Bloodborne at first and then catch up on other games afterwards.

I've seen multiple people with martial arts backgrounds say this about jackie. It's not that he hasn't worked his ass off and all that, but they are saying wasn't trained in martial arts. There's no history of him in schools or tournaments like there are for some other stars. That's what he means when he says that.
I don't see it as a big deal. It doesn't matter that much as long as it looks good on screen. Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Ziyi didn't have martial arts backgrounds either before filming and nobody cares about it for their movies.
