LIS 2      my personal goty of 2015 was LIS   can't wait for this game to be out also it's not close/similar to Steins;gate since that was more of a visual novel, LIS is comparable to Telltale games as they are more interactive. Besides Chole + Max isn't yuri 

 

 That visual novel bundle, Sekai project O.O got it just yesterday and root double for it's price alone on that bundle covers everything I just wanted, than the World End Economia and  Narcissu all makes up for it I gave most of my other codes away and just have two more which I really don't want.

 

Visual novels are games like Danganronpa and I believe you even played Zero escape, Root double is created by a friend of Uchikoshi (writer of Zero escape) so you could give it a try  though there are some visual novels which are just text based, about a war example fate/stay, Dies Irae,  science Steins;gate, chaos;head,  thriller higurashi when they cry, slice of life; rewrite, clannad (although that's also Nekige aka crying + emotional attachment  genre), mystery like Danganronpa and zero escape, fighting guilty gear and Blazblue. There's far more but the main premise of VN are mostly just like a novel where you just read, sometimes there's gameplay like Zero escape or even rpg elements (persona can be said as a vn despite it's social elements + RPG but not really just borderline). Hope this explains what a VN is

yea most of them are moe eechi trash from the looks of it lol. But there are enough that look good that i want to make the bundle worth it. Narcissu is great btw. I played the free version on steam. This version is a remake i think and also adds in a new epilogue and a few new additional stories. 

I saw this, but what are those visual novels even about? Are they all romance ones?

salieri explained most of it i think. Lots of eechi VNs that are probably not worth checking out but a few that might be. 

Narcissu isn't romance. It's about kids who live in a sick ward of a hospital. It is known as the last floor of the hospital before they die because of whatever illness they have. It covers topics like depression, suicide, and religion. I think it's great and worth reading if you can handle those topics.  It's the only one i've already read but it comes with new content.

also i played a ton of dissidia on the psp so i'm looking forward to this. I've been waiting for a console version so now that one is finally coming out i hope they announce it for the west soon. 

There were rumors that it's a prequel. Not sure how a sequel would even work

Yo i might actually buy this and it'll be the first time ever i pay the full $12 lol. I've been interested in the Fault Milestone VNs for a while and this is a pretty good deal just for those then add in the couple others.

no connections. A friend said he was going so we all said fuck it let's all go together! 

It was like $250 for the pass (all 3 days). Then add in costs of renting a car (i'm from cali so we're just gonna drive there) and an airbnb and my bank account is crying T__T. It's me and 3 friends going so should be fun though. 

I swear this year went by so fast. It feels like last E3 was just a few months ago,

I know I made one last year for E3 but that was like 2 or 3 weeks prior so searching on OH for E3 announcement /:

First event is this Saturday with EA kicking things off followed by Microsoft and Bethesda, can't wait for the PC showcase and Sony (uncharted 2) + Nintendo, please please please Pokemon Stars and SMT or even FE warriors

Yea i meant gameplay and not visuals. P5 is above the rest in terms of visuals for sure. 

I think he means the turn based combat of JRPGs is seen as outdated which I personally disagree but can't deny more companies are doing more real time action battle system like Square's remake of FF7 and FFXV is nothing like Kingdom Hearts lmao, I wish it was, would be more fun that way

I mean i love turn based combat in jrpgs. I'm not saying it's bad. I'm saying it doesn't have wide public appeal anymore. Jrpgs are niche and are nowhere as popular as before. There's the hardcore fans and everybody else has kinda moved on. 

Well I'm done with Valkyrie chronicles, got the dlc to do but that was an interesting experience. Though the ending was a bit cliché to say the least.

Like Atlus revamped it for persona 5 and a lot of people bought into it. So I don't see why other jrpg devs can't do it. Also ffxv is KH on steroids.

I think Xseed said that while they were working on SC. And if you read THIS, i think it's understandable that they didn't want to drop their work and start over. I don't think they would have sold that much more with cleaner looking sprites anyway. People would have still looked at it and think it's dated. Xseed is smaller than Atlus also i think, and Atlus is already pretty small themselves. But Atlus has Sega backing them now too so that helps them. 

What exactly did Atlus revamp for Persona 5? I don't remember anything about this. 

If only they remade and/or remastered the games for the FC,SC + third chapter into one collection, that would just be enough for people to get it. The thing I find mostly weary off was the graphics and gameplay which are still used in the later, CS games but are so so out of date. It's the same thing with Persona 1 and 2 when they both are just too outdated that most people would bat an eye to it. 

There are already remasters for them but Xseed said they're not going to bring them over. Probably because they already spent so much time working on the originals before the remasters were a thing. 

CS games do look bad and dated but i think they still appeal to people more than the Sky games. People probably look at Sky and think it's too old school for them even though i think Sky is way better. Gameplay-wise i think the non-hardcore jrpg fans see all jrpgs as dated unfortunately. Except for the more western influenced ones like FFXV and Xenoblade.

CSIII won't take that long. I think Xseed switched focused to CS after SC because they said SC finishes the Liberl story and Third is a side story. We didn't even know we were going to be getting Third. And CS sells wayyyyyyyyy more than the Sky games do. I think CS games have sold a combined 1 mill+ iirc? And Sky is like in the 10s of thousands or something super low despite how hard it was to translate those games. 

You should be about 80 ish percent done. If you are looking to just get true ending, expect about another 25 hours bad ending will clock you up to 35 hours. first play through took me 105 hours, second with just skipping class dialogue took 70 hours (with grinding and 100% compendium + confidant) for me personally.

 

 

Overall whom did you like most in CSII? If you think character build up is good in the second game. The first game would make you feel a lot more for them since that game was heavy on its character development compared to the second.

I'm 70 hours into P5 and just finished the 5th palace. About how much do i have left? I have this week off and would like to try to beat it this week if it's possible.

I think i might still like 5 Centimeters Per Second more also. But my viewing experience of Your Name was kinda ruined and definitely affected my enjoyment of the movie so it's hard to say for sure. 

Yeah I'm going to be listening my way through that list over the next few months so I will get round to that album. I don't mind the different languages.

I don't avoid them necessarily. I've listened to a song or two from all those male artists on the list. I just didn't care enough to listen to their albums haha. I listened to a few Fire Ex. songs before but not the album. 

This is probably one of my favorite cpop songs of the year so far and it's from a male artist so there! 

Since you were talking about the long wait in between releases, have you seen the nominees for this years awards? A lot of albums on there I haven't got round to listening to yet.

I think i listened to all the albums from the girls nominated in the best female category and only some of the ones nominated for best male (cus male artists reasons lol). Out of the ones nominated for best album, i listened to half of them i think. Not really interested in mayday, guo ding, xu jun.

Didilong's album is nominated for best taiwanese album and i listened to that also. Not sure if it's your style but i think it's worth checking out

Please do not encourage the release of mini albums in mandopop, that is one of my pet peeves about kpop. 5 track EPs are so pointless. :/

 

Music is like art and albums are the culmination of that process. It's lazy and easy to just release a mini album once you've got a few good songs, bit to actually take your time and make a complete album which flows and shows different facets to the singer is so much more valuable and provides the chance for less commercial songs to find their way on to a record and become sleeper hits or fan favourites.

 

Now if it was like a mix tape of demos to tide people over until the new album is ready, I'd be in agreement. But official EPs becoming the norm would completely turn me off mandopop.

lol i see your point but the lack of releases and waiting months and months for anything to come out is what turns me off of it.

Does anyone watch or take note of the Golden Melody Awards anymore? Feels like its becoming less relevant or at least I don't see the same level of attention given to the ceremony and the winners as a few years ago.

I never cared about awards. They're pretty meaningless to me. I only look up the nomination lists to see if i missed anything worth checking out.

Honestly i wouldn't mind if other countries did the japanese way of releasing music. Cpop is album heavy and you don't get much between albums because most artists don't release singles. Japan has singles every once in a while between albums. Or even the kpop way and release multiple mini-albums instead of waiting to release a full album. There's so much waiting for something to release in cpop. 

Has anyone played Divinity Original Sin? How is it for a complete Crpg noob and someone who sucks at strategy lol. 

Nier Automata is the best video game OST this year tbh. Haven't even played the game myself yet but i haven't heard anything else that's even close, not even P5. The only thing that i can see challenging it is the OST for the new FFXIV expansion because FFXIV music is usually pretty damn good too. 

I actually think 5 has much better characters, even if a particular villain is super obvious and disappointing after 4. Especially because 4's culprit was harder to see coming, especially if you did their social link.

idk i just don't really like any of the party members outside of Ryuji. And the story isn't doing anything for me either. ~50 hours in and the story is "we need to get more popular! Wait who is this group?" and that's it after that many hours. Game is still fun and all the little things to manage has been pushing me forward but i need the game to make me care about something.

Memenots is like Tartarus but worse at least that's for me.  As for palaces, it's like the first palace was good, second and third were dull but it gets a bit better on 4th, leaving it there just in case of spoilers but the game does pick itself back up later

You don't need to be overleveled /: unless you're going for 100% compendium? Nor do you need much money. Mementos quests alone gives you enough cash and one other arcena. needed over 15,000,000 yen for 100% compendium when I was level 20 to 30

I just started palace 4 last night but i'm putting the game on hold. Good to hear i'm at the point where it picks up though. 

mementos do suck. Their design, the repetitive music, the way the game constantly nags you to go do the missions, and how little they make you care about doing them because you have so many other things you're already trying to manage. I don't think having to save in a save room is that bad though. They're never that far apart. 

I do think P5 improves in a lot of ways mechanically. I just wish i cared about the story and the characters more. They're not doing it for me and i think its partly because it is just being weaker than 4 in that area, and Trails somewhat ruining jrpgs for me lol. 

I saw something about possible Trails in the Sky characters showing up in Cold Steel 3? I didn't look into it more because i was scared of seeing spoilers since i haven't even played CS2 yet.

Yeah quarter circles are okay for me too but the Z moves are still kinda annoying to do imo especially with combos so it's cool they're trying simplier inputs, as long as it's not charge, I'm good, can't do them to save my life lol

 

Cammy was my main too when I used to play the game, she's probably one of the easier characters to get into besides the shotos

the only problem i have with z inputs are accidental supers lol. 

I'm mostly just playing it as a break from P5. I'm considering getting GG when it comes out and try getting into that instead. 

i saw that on reddit this morning. As a character he looks kinda cool. The input stuff i'm not sure about yet. Even as a novice, special move inputs aren't hard. It's the combo timing and memorization that's harder, maybe it's because i've been doing hadoukens and shoryukens since sf2 though. It just reminds me of the new MVC supposedly having dp be down down punch instead of what it has been for decades. 

Speaking of SFV though, i've been trying to find a character to learn and i think i've settled with Cammy. Been doing her trials and messing around in training for a little bit here and there~
