I know I'm probably late, but I just watched the first episode of secret kard and I have to say I died when Somin was by herself and she was like oh J.seph and Jiwoo went for a jog when they were literally just shopping and got coffee.....a jog lmao, I now know who I personally identify with in this group

Also to the user above who asked about B.M.'s shirt thing, I wouldn't fight someone for it, I'm also a guy so maybe that's why lol but yeah that's just crazy like someone could get hurt.
And happy birthday J.seph!!!

I love EVERYTHING about this comeback. The aesthetics are literally amazing, like this might be my favorite styling for all of them, I love everyone's hair, their outfits, I just can't take it. The song is exactly what we expected, a B to the O to the P and the rest of the songs on the mini are awesome too. Once again our girls deliver.
They all just look amazing though, like I'm blown away I didn't think they could be anymore gorgeous.

Ok random thought, but I kind of want the girls to rap more (specifically Jiwoo) in their future releases. I like the guys rapping, but I think it would be cool to break it up a bit and have like one guy and one girl singing and one guy and one girl rapping. I know we kind of got that a little with the prerelease and they haven't officially debuted yet and we don't know what they will have in store, but that's something I would like to see/listen to.

I just finished crying and emotional after SISTAR disbandment as star1.
So since, I'm on my moving on process I'm tryin' to find new gen that I could hook up to.
So glad to visit this thread. I'm mainly here because of their dope songs and for Somin, but of course for KARD. Kinda excited for their debut. Funny to think that, I thought I will end my love for Kpop after Sistar but KARD give me another reason to still stay as Kpop fan. Yasssss!
Totally feel you, I was thinking the same thing when my groups disbanded, but I'm so glad I stuck around for KARD!

Hello all, just want to introduce myself to this thread.
I was going to enter the thread when you guys were talking about your preference for Kard's music themes, (which I agree I don't want them to stick to just love and relationships either and the super hero idea is brilliant, it must happen) but now you are talking about DSP and serious stuff so I feel odd coming in now, but oh well, better late than never

I've actually been a fan of Kard since the beginning when I first heard about a co-ed group, and that was during a time when most of the groups I stan were having issues (please see my badges for details

) so I hopped on board and looked forward to their first pre release which I really liked. With every song they release I like them more and more and can't wait for their official debut. I wish they had come to the New York area for their Wild Kard tour, I definitely would've gone. I also really hope there's a physical release when they debut, I need the bops, I need the photo booklet, and I need whatever else they have in store.Anyways, that was my long hello!

I firmly believe that it was a matter of business. Everything we heard about this was mostly about how their careers were going. You're not popular enough->lack of attention from company->not as much work coming in. We know that JYPE can get people jobs, so it's not like they couldn't. Day6 is literally getting a release every month with a concert of sorts. If that isn't something I don't know what. We also know some people on their roster are kind of just waiting around for their next release. Yeeun and Sui were probably offered a deal, but it didn't meet their demands so they kicked rocks.
Yeeun and Sunni may have released solo albums...but that was in 2014. It's been three years since either have done a solo project (not countin Yeeun's collab with yuonha and Cheetah). Like it isn't like they were being put on OSTs, collabs, etc. or acting or mcing constantly. It also wasn't like they weren't doing anything (we got photo shoots, shows, etc.) but obviously it wasn't enough to satisfy Yeeun and Sunni. Which is perfectly fine. They shouldn't just be grateful for a "creative space", especially when the fruit of their labor isn't being released. That doesn't pay bills or further their careers.
As for Lim and Yubin: I think they just didn't want to risk it. If what is said about Lim is true she is going to be a full time student so her overall career isn't really changing. Yubin is the one I don't understand, but I assume she didn't want to risk it as well.
Also I just think they included the fan thing to look emotional and nice.
I just think there is nothing personal about this, or if it is, all the business side kind of eclipse it. If Yeeun and Sunni did not like what they had or what they were given and JYPE were not going to accommodate that why should they stay?
Thanks for taking the time to read my (extremely long) post and responding! You raise some really good points and I agree with you, at the end of the day it was just business. I appreciate you taking the time to comment and you had good insights, that's why I like talking to all of you here, cause everyone has a different perspective and can bring certain things to the forefront that I may have overlooked or not thought about. Plus everyone here is super nice

No worries. I think you pretty much said what half of us were thinking... I honestly don't blame them, but I do believe there were probably other factors in play that we simply don't know about. It seems like the only explanation to me tbh.
Thanks, I think there were other things going on behind the scenes that we don't know, and I'm trying not to be mad or angry but I just can't help it. The only thing that's helping me is the thought that we don't know the full picture and there probably are other factors that were discussed.
-
OK so, I read the statement someone posted above, I took a couple days and read it again...and I'm actually feeling kind of angry. I was wondering if there was something I'm missing or not fully understanding, so if there is please let me know, but I just wanted to get this out.
It seems like the reason they are disbanding is because they are not popular anymore, which I kind of don't understand because they did really well with their last comeback (which I know doesn't mean everyone loves them again, but it can lead to greater interest in the future) and started to gain some of their popularity back. Then, what they said in regards to Yenny and Sunmi not resigning doesn't make sense to me. They both said they wanted to have more solo activities and Yenny wanted to become a more serious singer/songwriter. I 100% get that, but haven't both of them already started down that path with their solo careers? I mean both of them were able to release music as solo artists under JYP, it seems like the company was willing to give them solo promotions in the future, especially Sunmi considering how well her solo did. I don't get why they would want to leave and find other companies to have solo activities under when they've already been given solo activities under JYP and because it seems like the company has given them the ability and freedom to do everything themselves, write, produce, etc. It seems like for some reason no one thought that they could give the Wonder Girls members solo activities while they were still in Wonder Girls moving forward and in order to get solo promotions they needed to disband the group altogether which makes 0 sense to me. The other reason is because they said they didn't want to have fans wait for them to release material. Honestly, as many of us have said, I would not care if I had to wait 3/4 years for another WG album. I don't understand why they thought disbanding the group altogether seemed to be the best option.
Idk if I'm being selfish, I feel like I am. It just seems like the girls just wanted to stop being in a group indefinitely which kind of makes me think there won't be any sort of reunion in the future. It would be different if they went on a hiatus and said the members were going to focus on solo activities for the next few years and then plan on coming back as WG at a latter date. But this just seems like the members didn't want to do it anymore and WG is completely over, but they still want to do music just in the form of solo acts, which once again idk why you couldn't do both. I honestly would have felt better if they had decided to disband because they wanted to start a family or didn't want to do music anymore. That would have made sense and I would have completely understood. Heck, it would have made more sense if there were internal issues between the members, which I thank the Lord there hasn't been, but it would have made the news of disbandment actually make sense. But it seems like they were tired of being in a group and wanted to sacrifice the group so they could do solo promotions which I don't understand because the two members that left already had solo promotions and it seemed like they were planning on doing more solo promotions and you could always just put the group on hiatus again which I feel like would have been a better option.
I'm sorry this was so long and I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings about this cause I know this is hard for all of us, I just really needed to get this out. Like I said, if I'm missing something or not understanding something or there is more to this, then please tell me, but as of now that's how I feel.

IIRC Why So Lonely was supposed to be a full album - or had been rumored to be one - and ended up only being the three tracks we got. As great as those three are (I will always always love everything about To The Beautiful You especially), it makes me really wish we had more.
There were articles in the summer about the girls jokingly saying JYP was more focused on the Unnies and on Twice - but in retrospect they were a little more painfully accurate than those writeups' tone implied.https://www.soompi.com/2016/07/04/wonder-girls-jokingly-upset-park-jin-young-focusing-unnies/
Both Sunmi and Yenny had negative history with JYP's management in the past: Sunmi originally left WG in 2011, if I'm not mistaken, over the repetitive nature of setlists (not aided at all by the US adventure), while Yenny has spoken about butting heads with him during the HA:TFELT recording sessions.
thanks, that puts it more in to perspective. I completely understand that, but at the same time the other part of me is saying "but the girls had soooooo much freedom in the agency now, they were producing their own material and were trusted to do what they wanted" but then again the other part of me is saying "remember reading about WSL and how it was supposed to be a full album and idk what happened with that". I guess I never really thought this would be the scenario, I genuinely thought the girls would go on a hiatus and focus on individual activities for a few years maybe until Lim was done with school or something then resume with WG's promotions, I never actually thought that they would flat out disband. But thanks for the info, that makes me feel a little better.

i honestly didnt expect the disband to hit me this hard (i was so shook i felt like throwing up)
but fuuuuuuuck i honestly thought that they would resign as wsl did so well and they were rising again (or that they would resign with another agency or do a co management with another agency) but looks like theyre done
i promised myself if the wonder girls disband that i would leave kpop so this is a good bye too i guess (if anyone wants wons hmu)
lets not forget wonder girls amazing achievements over the years
- successfully introducing a new song style to kpop (hook songs)
- sohee's omona
- the "wonder woman" dance that was done by practically everyone in korea
- only girl group to have three mega huge nationwide hits (tell me, so hot nobody)
- creating the modern girl group (catchy hook songs and easy to follow choreo)
- first hallyu stars
- first kpop group to spread kpop outside east asia (nobody was a huge hit in sea and gained popularity in the states)
- reaching a godly level of popularity in 07/08 that no 2nd or 3rd gen groups that could reach
there are way more but thats all i can think of
WONDER LEGENDS NEVER DIE
Thank you for this. I literally was having a fight with someone the other day over the 7th thing you listed, the other person said I was wrong and that PSY was the one that broke it out of east asia and I said no, it was WG first. I stood firm thru the negging and held my ground. I don't understand but I feel like these girls never got the respect they deserved, their contributions to K-pop as a whole are pretty much second to none.
Also, I was just thinking about something and maybe someone could clear it up for me. Why do you think this happened? I mean, the girls had pretty much sole control over their music, produced what they wanted, etc. and it seemed like that had plans for this year, like Yenny said in the first half of 2017 she would probably have a solo comeback and I heard someone talk about a 10th anniversary concert? Does anyone know what could have happened or why the girls would want to disband? I know 10 years together is a long time, but they were doing so well, why decide to stop now? (Sorry if this has been discussed before, I didn't see it in earlier pages)

I'm sorry I never got to post in this thread as much as I wanted, I feel like a bad fan...and now that WG have disbanded I'm not going to lie, it has totally hit me hard. I honestly never thought they would disband, I was for sure thinking they would go on hiatus again, or at least all leave JYP together, I never thought they would split like this. I just wish they could have done a 10th anniversary concert/goodbye concert w/ Sun, Sohee, and Hyuna too that would have made my dreams come true. I guess I was blinded by the success of WSL, and thought it did so well they wouldn't end up disbanding. At least it seems like the girls themselves came to this decision with each other and there are no hard feelings cause in this scenario that is all I would want. I feel as tho personally, my K-pop days are over, I mean just looking at my badges there isn't much left for me here. Thank you WG for giving us timeless bops, and some of the best albums of all time and I truly mean that. I will look forward to seeing their future careers and will support them, hopefully you guys will still post news in this thread and we can all continue talk together.

We were wrong lol scroll down to +jihyemeon+ post, she's a korean fan. Other than messages Dara and sometimes CL left in their blackjack zone, they're just like us.
Haha thanks for telling me, I just finished reading +jihyemeon+'s post and then saw you responded to me lol

Not just Kbjs but a lot of Korean fans know a lot things that they don't want to tell international fans. For example that OT4 pic from MAMA 2015 that was posted after they disbanded, they keeped it that pic for themselves for a year.
They hate us idk why lol.
They know things they kept for themselves. They knew 2NE1 were going to perform at Mama 2015, some of them were even in the audience. They have pics and videos of 2NE1 they've never shared with us. The girls would post messages for them in their official blackjack zones..
I don't think they hate us though, at least i hope they don't hate us. We have a korean fan here and she doesn't seem to hate us lol
Oh ok, I understand now, thanks for responding!

Sorry, I might just a be a little slow on the uptake right now, but I'm confused by this tweet. What does it mean by saying KBJs always knew?
And I agree about the lack of YG artists talking about 2NE1's last release, like seriously guys it doesn't take much to tweet or make and insta post...

Where were these ppl when WG were trying to come back in 2011?
Where were they when Reboot dropped?
Where was the demand for WG during their unnecessary 3 year hiatus?
Don't ask for another year from WG when chances are you're not going to support it. Plus JYPE probably wouldn't have done anything for the 10th aside from tweeting about it.
I'm not coming for K-WFs because they really did work and tried their best and I love them but knetz can jump off of cliff.
Preach!
So I guess we should prepare ourselves to see Lim out of the picture...
That's kind of what it sounds like. Tbh when I heard about Lim going to university, I kind of had a suspicion that she may just want to focus on her studies. I know idols have gone to school and still promoted with the girl, but idk, I just thought maybe she would go to school and the rest would focus on solo activities for a year or something. Who knows tho, nothing has been confirmed yet so anything is possible.

You and I is #1 on the Melon sudden rise chart again.
Bom = Queen
2NE1 = Queen
there is nothing more to say.....except that I'm waiting for these YouTube views to jump cause I know everyone has been streaming all day.

The song's hard to find. I'm in the US and it wouldn't pop up when you search for it. I had to go to the 2ne1 tag, and it was in the albums section and not the single.
Thanks for posting, I just tried to search it in the US and couldn't find it either. I'll try looking in the albums section tho cause i didn't check there yet.

The song and video are beautiful you guys. I was so excited when Bom came on screen I couldn't stop smiling. I wanted to cry throughout the whole video, but I just couldn't because I was so happy to see them again. I'm really impressed with CL for writing this, it's so heartfelt, so real, it's amazing. I feel like I'm at a loss for words, I don't know what else to say.

a better translation of that article:

Thanks for posting this. I'm honestly curious how well they expected Reboot to do. I mean they were just coming out of a three year hiatus which is enough time to lose a bunch of fans especially since it seemed like no one knew what was going on concerning their hiatus, if they would comeback, if they would disband, etc. and they completely changed their concept from a dance group to a band, which was bound to turn some of the remaining fanbase off. I'm just mad that it isn't recognized as one of the greatest albums ever like it should be considering every song is gold. Its one of the only albums I have listened to where I like more than half of the songs off the album. Also if they decided to disband in 2017 after Reboot underperformed, that's kind of silly. I mean, they just spent how long practicing to become a band and after 2 comebacks you're just going to call it quits? I get that if they weren't performing, from a business standpoint it makes sense, but as a member I would be pissed.
I hope we get some news soon. Reports that Yenny and Sunmi are looking for agencies to keep WG together is comforting. I just want them to stay together, they have come so far and worked so hard.

I low-key still want then to into new members.
I actually want them to add new members too. I think it would be weird to come back as 5 tbh because it would literally be 9musesA plus Sungah which would kind of ruin any distinction between the group and the sub unit. Kind of want them to add a rapper, not that Sojin is bad, but I've always liked having 2 rappers in the group.
-
the reason they have those...WSL was suppose to be a full album...JYPE rejected all but
3 songs...3 songs that fit a summer concept
Oh ok I didn't know that, thanks! That kind of sucks tho, would've liked to have gotten a full album.

So Minzy is possibly going to show off her variety skills? This would be great for her if it's true.

Honest question, why does everyone think WG leaving JYP = disbandment?
Maybe they will focus on individual activities to wait for Sunmi's contract to end then resume as WG in a year? I honestly don't believe they will disband, especially if the members all want to make it work and it seems like they do. Especially since during the WSL promotions they talked about how they made a lot more songs but decided to hold them for now and Yenny just talked about having a solo comeback in the beginning of this year. I just don't see them disbanding tbh. I will respect whatever decision they make tho, they need to do what's right by them.

Just saw this on twitter it's another song snippet.
(yes I revived my OH account that I haven't used in a loooooooong time just to post this I've been having major 2NE1 feels recently)
