Which male idols do you think are gay?
witchcocktor replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
When will you people stop calling people fruity? It's offensive and GROSS. When will you stop using the word q**er for people who do not consent being called a homophobic slur? With how the last few pages went, check on your own homophobic, ignorant behavior. -
It's excellent. Don't know what the two posters above are smoking.

So ready. NiziU keeps delivering catchy af pop songs (outside of Super Summer, we can just forget about that nnn).

Which male idols do you think are gay?

The author of CMBYN novel, released in 2007, is André Aciman, who is married with a wife and children. The screenplay for the film is James Ivory though, can't say how much the story changed in the film but regardless it's not the product of a gay man, even the film. I don't think any idol who has said they like CMBYN has specifically enjoyed it's '' problematic '' aspects and even then, what is seen as morally corrupt, questionable, offensive and problematic varies from culture to culture. In many asian cultures, age difference isn't often a big deal at all, whether in media or real life. I do find it interesting that CMBYN essentially became a '' gay '' product that the general population won't bat an eye if you mention liking it. Wonder how that happened. -

Regarding stereotypes.. It's interesting. I do recognize the efforts to '' stop calling people gay just because they behave stereotypically gay! '' and sometimes the intentions are good, but as often they do come off as homophobic and wanting to deny the existence of gay people. When it comes to these people, the funny thing is they do not object people who think someone is definitely straight because they are masculine. It's only to object anyone from thinking x is gay because of y, not sexuality in general. On the other hand, there's as much effort put into celebrating and embracing stereotypes, and looking down on those who don't fit the stereotypical mold and denying their existence, questioning their identity on whether they truly are '' one of us '' so to speak. All I can say is that in this thread, very rarely is masculinity conflated with being non-heterosexual. And we all know why. -

Even as societal changes happen, change will hit the idol industry like, DEAD LAST. Thankfully a lot of talented, remarkable gay, lesbian and bi people can get an impressive platform and even a career in social media. The luckiest will crossover to more traditional entertainment mediums like TV, as social media becomes a bigger force and a threat to these entertainment mediums. The discussion regarding gay rights and societal change in general can seem desperate and hopeless when you are using idol industry as your go-to when it comes to evaluating how far South Korea has come, but thankfully there is life and change happening outside of the idol industry. Not saying you or anyone specifically doesn't already acknowledge this, but I think it's a good reminder nevertheless. -

With the amount of different ships being posted in this thread almost daily, you have to recgonize that something is going on, and I can honestly say it's not idols being in same-sex relationships, but just horny shipping from brainrotted fans. With that said, it's not a completely crazy idea that same-sex attracted idols are dating other same-sex attracted idols. When both have a lot to lose (their livelihood) if they were outed, keeping things private is essential. And if the idols are popular enough, their company would have to also do their best to keep the rumors at bay and protect their image, and that allows a certain degree of freedom. But I don't believe that any potential same sex couple(s) in the idol industry would have any interest in sparking even the smallest amounts of rumors about their relationship, unless of course idol industry has become so '' smart '' that companies encourage such behavior from same sex couples because under the guise of fanservice, small vague gestures of intimacy brings in fans, attention and discussion. But overall that seems like a massive stretch that I do not support. -

Well in terms of entertainment business, I would assume - An idol would do this to stand out from other idols - An idol would do this if they were focusing on becoming a TV entertainer/comedian, as being gay is funny and weird (and bad), you can use it as a way to make a character of yourself and keep people semi-invested and entertained by the running gag - An idol would do this to lower to guard of women they are interested in - An idol would do this to soften to blow of them not being super masculine, by opting out of the gay rumors when it's time so people can be like '' phew, he has a girlfriend, so he is just a feminine/flamboyant man, not a horrid gay man, he is still a normal person despite his feminine appearance and behavior! '' And all the '' damage '' that these rumors would do can be undone by just announcing a relationship with a woman. After all, it was all just rumors, it was just a running gag. Straight idols can just opt out from the gay jokes and rumors when they want to. It certainly was a way for Heechul to keep people semi-interested. *shrug* -

I mean you have to keep in mind that the Korean idol industry isn't exactly great for women, so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for PR relationships to be about being favorable for the male idol and the female idol just having to roll with the punches. What a female idol gets out of such an arrangement is generally money. The whole '' accusing Heechul of being a predator '' is something that mostly, if not only comes from i-fans, and who cares about what i-fans say. I remember when Heechul's relationship was announced, k-netizens were mostly happy for him and were relieved that he isn't gay or anything. Though my memory is pretty shaky. -
Stray Kids Hyunjin to go on a hiatus.
witchcocktor replied to king_seungmin's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Some of his actions can surely be blamed on being a dumb kid, but he had several years of not being a dumb kid to apologize for his actions. What this shows is that he didn't think his actions back then had any negative effect on others and feels that before all this blew up like it did, he did nothing he should apologize for. And if he was completely oblivious how much his actions affected others negatively, then a real adult human like he is (I hope) would suffer the consequences of his actions without any complaints. And it's not like his consequences are dire, he is basically vacationing for a while and coming back when the heat is off, and he is automatically forgiven and can continue like he used to. His contract isn't terminated, it's just a hiatus until all this blows off... And if you are asking me '' did you apologize to everyone you might've bullied during your childhood '' then no, but I'm not an idol. If Hyunjin wasn't an idol, nobody would care, and the victim would have less of an issue dealing with the bullying because Hyunjin's face wouldn't be everywhere. A lot of idols appeal is that they are cream of the crop, people you should look up to. When things like these come to light, that image generally deteriorates. Nobody sensible would want to support an idol with a bullying background that they have shown no remorse over until a scandal comes out and the idols' victims speak out. It's just common sense. -

I was personally shocked. Like I know SK is conservative, but by this much that they are deleting scenes from movies? Like this is something China would do (that made the news as well actually https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/26/world/asia/bohemian-rhapsody-china-censored.html) Hopefully people are fighting back. -

Do whatever you want, but I'm judging heavily from the sidelines. That doesn't mean anything obviously, I'm just a random loser on the internet, but I'm personally tired of people thinking it's empowering to reclaim slurs, especially if those slurs historically have never been affiliated with your identity. You have no business doing that if that's the case. In general it's weird how people take language and words very seriously when it comes to discussion about race, gender and neurodiversity, but when it comes to policing words and slurs used against gays and lesbians primarily, it's a free buffet, nothing is offensive, everything is actually empowering and you can use words however you see fit. But whatever, here's something both upsetting and uplifting. -

Fruitcake is pretty much a slur, as is fruit. Why use fruity when flamboyant is right there, and doesn't carry the same vitriol and negative background??? Digging up old homophobic insults and making them into adjectives, I do NOT understand it at all. -

I fucking hope everyone using the word '' fruity '' is a real gay man. Some of ya'll get real comfortable using words that are often derogatory, like you aren't far off from calling people sissies and f-words. Geez. -

If I want to look at some great butts and pecs, gay bodybuilders are the way to go. But I think straight bodybuilders are often more '' handsome '' just because there's a wider selection of different kind of guys in terms of style and appearance. Gay men kind of box themselves in the same short hair facial hair combo, especially when it comes to asian men. I think Wonho's contrasting style + body is very appealing, even if I don't generally like the k-idol style which is very same-y and too artificial with the makeup and the surgery. -

Generally when straight guys show off their thighs they do the '' roll up your gym shorts as much as possible and flex ur thighs '' thing. And ass shots are just n/a unless they are doing some bodybuilding pose where the ass looks flat af lmao. For gay dudes it's SHOW ASS SHOW THIGH SHOW TIT. There's definitely a different perspective to fitness and bodybuilding, obviously there are cases where sexuality isn't indicative of how bodybuilders show off their progress but there's still patterns I've noticed following many muscular men. I'd say the Wonho pictures are pretty gay. -

Don't sweat it. People here don't really understand homosexual men and the culture surrounding us. While I don't necessarily think Wonho's pictures were alluding to anything regarding his sexuality, it was as big of a clue or a hint than most of the other stuff posted here. But I do think there's definitely a certain way most straight men pose when they are into fitness and bodybuilding as opposed to gay men. I follow tons of bodybuilders, gay and straight, on instagram and there's a very clear difference. Wonho's pictures being the type of pictures gay bodybuilders would post. -

That's nice, especially since they are asian. Often times idols praise western LGB artists and media, and their LGBT support is often for the western audience, so this is a really nice gesture. -

90% of the gays in this industry will get a wife and start a family. The other 9% will be confirmed bachelors with dating rumors here and there, and the 1% might, MIGHT actually come out. -

These are real, living, ADULT men and you are talking about '' who is being babied '' like wtf. This has nothing to do with who is gay and who is not, and is frankly, really weird and infantilizing.
