  1. That's my only problem with Jimin: I just don't like her voice. Initially I thought "oh, it must be one of those acquired taste things" so I tried to listen to her more... nope, didn't work. But I like her spunk and I respect her for her love of music, so I wish her lots of success.

It's a similar situation with Jolly V, but aside from not liking her voice there are more aspects of her I dislike.

  2. That was beautiful

I am so happy to see Tymee enjoying the stage this much.

She was the real underdog of UR

I hope she is too working on an album.

The Final should have been Cheetah, Tymee and Yuk Jidam.

Hanging out with Idols have its advantage the main one being given you an entry into the mainstream market.

    That is the truth.

Tymee was marvelous in the Lotte event, she was positively shining. She looked beautiful too. And she also performed a song I haven't heard before, she sung on it too and I was surprised at her singing voice. It's the best I've ever heard her sing.

  3. Was that Tymee singing in the last clip? Whoa, that's the best I've heard her sing... like ever. She has a really nice soft soothing voice.

She was amazing in that event, it's like she was shining. She is in her element.

This woman is amazing, I'm telling you. :ilove:

  4. I have no idea why people are constantly using Bobby to justify Jimin's performances on the show...

Bobby showed his abs during his I GO performance iirc, and that was during the "I AM" performances where they're supposed to rap about something that represents them. Bobby specifically said " I want to convey how I go all the way when I grab the mice", presumably rapping about how nothing else really matters when he's on stage.

Okay, and this episode's challenge was called, "Real Me" ?

Let me just briefly translate her lyrics :

"I'm the mother fucking top madam

The gangster who strips the uncles of their money

I use that money to pop champagne bottles

I walk the red carpet like a cat

    Boys hold their breaths

    Acting cool? Please

    Your boyfriend wants me

Cuz I'm the motherfucking top madam

You who acted hard is nothing

We strip you down and you're really nothing

    Loosen your shoulders and learn

    Complete conquest

    The female version of napoleon

You have nothing to chew on

    except your dried up gum

Keep trying to chew on it

    Run away

On my chin, on my chest

    glue it on it

    Hurry up and nod

    Everybody bounce

    I'm sick of them puss"

    Hm.

roughly 70% about other people and uncles

and 30% about her spending money and conquering something and inducing boners.

If that's the "real her" she must be fun at parties. :hurr:

  5. How is Jimin's performance any different than Bobby's L4L on SMTM#3?

This stage looked exactly like those and many of the performers who performed on that show brought guest stars.

Olli brought Zico once and Iron himself had many guest stars.

And in those instances they were all vying for the audiences votes.

Why is it okay for them to do that and not okay for Jimin?

    Who even mentioned Bobby? :har:

People need to stop bringing Bobby and/or western rappers into this to defend Jimin or to justify her out of place performance.

  6. Wasn't this challenge titled "Real Me"? Everyone followed the challenge but Jimin. Jimin showed us her idol character. The other girls showed themselves as persons.

And it would be a joke if Jimin won this because Iron rapped more than she did in her own perf.

  7. The idol scene happened because of the American pop scene. The Korean rap scene wouldn't even be a thing until they started to take an interest in black forms of music - Rap, R&B, etc. It's only incongruous because of the culture surrounding promotional cycles; American popstars don't release albums annually, nor do they accrue debt the same way trainees do. But the music is sonically very similar to Western productions. Most of TTS' recent release sound like Ariana Grande leftovers. The underground Korean rap scene, from what I understand, is incredibly similar to the underground rap scene flourishing in the West as well.

It's in poor taste to criticize Jimin for that though. You need to understand that the girl is using these elements because she wants to prove to herself and the audience that idol rappers, with all elements intact, can still compete with the underground scene. Just because someone's criticizing you for an aspect of your character, do you change that aspect completely? Or do you use that to your advantage so you can prove to everyone else that you can succeed? This is similar to what female MCs did back in the day. People told them they couldn't do it. The female MCs complained. The female MCs used this to their advantage and released hot tracks. This proved people wrong. Jimin is only following this route.

Everyone knows american music has influenced every other country's music. But now american music and korean music are two different entities and it's useless to compare them.

The point is that Jimin already succeeded with AOA, what else does she need to prove? You're making it sound as if she was revolutionary or something, which she is not.

  8. Who cares if her performance was like an idol?

Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim (at her peak), Missy Elliot, and Lisa "Left Eye" would run circles around all of the rappers on this show and they all have "idol-like" performances. Confining one type of performance style to one type of artist is, quite frankly, stupid.

None of those rappers have idol like performances because there's not such a thing as an idol concept in the US, don't even try to mix American hip hop and Korean hip hop because it doesn't make sense.

The point here is that Jimin is incongruent, first she complains about idol prejudice and then uses her position to her advantage.

Bringing back dancers and featuring a popular handsome rapper while singing catchy but nonsensical lyrics is cheating IMO. The other girls poured their heart out in their performances. Jimin turned it into a sexy show.

  9. ^

    Apparently yes.

the show is pretty derpy. might as well just enjoy the performances and ignore everything else tbh

Yeah, I know... somehow I wasn't even that surprised when I saw she was back. But I will enjoy her performance, that's fosho~.

I actually don't know how to feel about this.  At first I was psyched to hear her voice and see her face, but I was actually okay with the fact that she "ended" her time in that hellhole on a high note and was working on new music.

I agree, my feelings are also mixed. But isn't she working on a mini album?
