One user theorized that they were deflecting from the deepfakes issue and men being targetted by attacking women for RPS and the more comments from knetz I read, I start to believe it strongly.
itys definitely true.

tbh, i think the thing with rps and fanfic is that most responsible creators do not try to push this stuff on the idols. there are fans that cross the boundaries, but most fan content is kept semi-private on specific websites, or heavily censored in places like twitter. like ive seen many nsfw content creators for kpop groups block any official accounts of the idol group. writing down a fantasy and doctoring real images of people into pornography is very different imo.
my stance on fanfic is that you're basically casting your own actor into a story. ofc its understandable if the idols get uncomfortable when they see that stuff, but most of them would probably rarely come across it unless they do deep dives into their searches on google or search through fans accounts which i doubt many of them do regularly. it would only be sexual harassment if people send it directly to the idol.
the truth is...many people fantasize about others, people they know irl or celebs, in their head. ff is just writing that stuff down. you will never be able to police someone's thoughts tho.
its rlly gross to me that these incels have tried to say this is as bad as the deepfakes or nth room. i feel like rps falls into a grey area, but actually doctoring images of people or sexualizing real images or videos of them... its obviously wrong. especially when sometimes people can see that stuff and think its real. its practically defamation in that sense, outside of the sexual harassment.

sm purposefully has made exo cb right at the end/out of the period they would qualify for award shows. like most award show qualifications end in nov and exo would cb right in nov or dec. i think sm does this bc they know exo wont win a daesang anymore with bts always a given for aroty and aoty.

I know that we're all bored in quarantine but don't you and whoever else made this shit up have anything better to do? This is just so dramatic, calm the fuck down.
how was this made up when mans is literally on camera saying it... a TRUSTED nct translator translated this and multiple jaemin fansites went on rest bc of this.... he's not some random middle schooler. he's an adult who should watch his words on broadcast at least if nowhere else.

"duh when you are an artist you sing live. There’s nothing impressive about that." this is hilarious when there are many groups who constantly lip sync. even at concerts.
anyway, the whole vocals debate is so old and tired. tone and how pleasant a voice is to my own ears will always trump technical vocal prowess to me. some of the so called "best" vocalists in kpop sound monotone and boring to me.

It’s not always about the way a company manages its group.
From what I saw BBC are doing a great job at promoting LOONA. look at their international fan base. It’s just that there are things you can’t control no matter how hard you try.
their promotion in korea is pretty dismal imo. they don't rlly go on well known shows often or get many gigs in general. when they're not promoting new music they've basically fallen off the face of the earth. promotion is so much more than giving every member a single predebut solo song and doing units once that never get utilized again. i mean, bbc just got sued for not carrying out their part in a promotional advertisement including the girls.... anyway so what was a bad title track choice and there are many better choices their company could and should be making.

loona has everything but their company just doesn't know how to get korea's attention on them.

This is nice and all but it's severely harms the enjoyability of the forum. Locking is fine, but deleting the thread is just ridiculous.
exactly. and its not even just threads. mods legit go through and "clean" every "controversial" thread. they delete tons of posts. i've had many posts of mine deleted bc i quoted someone who gets their post deleted. it just kills any and all conversation. its like the mods dont want the remaining users to even enjoy this site but

this site just doesn't attract new users. akp only continues to thrive bc they have an active news site attached to them which draws ppl to the forum. plus more lax modding lets trolls run wild there. trolling is the only thing that gets people talking and arguing like nothing else. here any posts with heated arguments and "insults" just about get insta deleted lol.

i mean.. its obviously a combination of things. youtube changed their algorithm, youtube continues to mass delete bts' views as "spam/bot" views during their first 24hrs which is where the bulk of fandom streaming happens, bh released multiple videos, 1 of which is quite long with a story break in it, which always hurts mv views. at the end of the day, bts' views are normal for most popular artists on the platform when it comes to non mega hits. they aren't inflated by youtube ads like most kpop mvs are these day.

not like queendom was the pinnacle of entertainment lol. most mnet shows are boring af, they just become trendy for 1 or 2 stand out performances so people start flocking to it to be a part of the conversation.

Why do people only care about JYPE groups when they want to bash the groups or company?
whenever threads are made about accomplishments not even a peep from people?
criticizing a company's management is bashing? this is a discussion thread. there's nothing to discuss when it comes to a group's concrete achievements but there are plenty of things to discuss when it comes to a company's failures. many people liked wg and miss a, myself included. don't know why i have to prove myself to have been a fan of them to even mention their name in a more negative topic lol.

jype is not a good management company. its as simple as that. wg failed bc of the forced u.s advancement stint which essentially robbed them of their top gg spot. they had success when they rebranded leading up to their disbandment, but jype couldn't keep them together so it all boiled down to jype's fault in the end.
with miss a, even though their debut as a group was a success, jype focused hardcore on suzy until the bitter end. they saw more value in her alone than they did in the overall group and thats why miss a never had lasting dominance in the industry.
jype has fcked over twice by working them to the bone and letting minimal 'scandals' effect them to the point where k netizen opinions of them are on a constant downward spiral. the dating stuff has tanked their male fanbase imo and in general jype has exhausted the public with them by having them constantly promoting.
jype is a bad management company. as simple as that.

True that, its socially acceptable for women to be into sports but men are called gay (for some reason still used as an insult in 2020) if they like kpop
Im not saying that female kpop fans are not insulted and stereotyped, but when someone says "I went to [insert kpop group] meet and greet, it was amazing, they shook my hands and hugged me" which one would people in general give a stronger reaction to, a man or a woman saying that?
i mean, have you read the post in the op lol. yes, a 20+ man who's into a kpop group with underaged girls would probably get ridiculed, but, like, it legit can be creepy? the exploitation of particularly underaged girls in the entertainment industry and how older men treat them and think about them is creepy and i feel like women have every right to think that way. society has normalized predatory behavior towards young girls. that is just a fact. and of course the script can be flipped. there ARE creepy female fans too. but we're not talking about "[x gendered] fans of this are creepy" comments by people on the internet here. we're talking about mass media portraying stereotypes to the public that are systematically making a group of people seem crazy, uncultured, and immature for their interests.

To be fair male kpop fans get ridiculed more
i don't agree. kpop stans are always portrayed as crazy screaming 12 year old fangirls with no brain by mass media. women get the brunt of the negative stereotypes across the board while men at worst get called gay or creepy. not to say there isn't unfair judgement passed on male kpop stans but i think there is a different scale.
-
its just weird to me that people are calling her cringey, but many people act this way when meeting celebs they rlly like. crying, being excited and a bit hyper, those are all normal reactions that only get ridiculed when it comes to women. only women are told that they're too old for their interests like theres not grown ass men crying and rioting over sports matches daily.... most of the things he said about her and to her are laced with misogyny. if she was cringey, ok? thats not a crime? i also don't see how bowing to them was a problem when she's just showing respect for korean culture.

this seems like 100% fandom increase? idk how that is "blowing up". corona virus' impact on sk is clearly negatively effecting overall streaming. bts, iu, and zico's UL have been extremely low. but if nct is getting more popular good for them either way

Oneus and Verivery are actually selling progressively better too, but yeah, they're still nowhere close to those three's league. Not even in AB6IX/CIX league, but at least they're growing.
I think Treasure is probably the most popular rookie bg this year because a lot of people are anticipating them since treasure box (so nearly 2 years ago). I see a lot of potential in MCND too. Their twitter followers have increased like +20k in the last few days and their MV has nearly 5M of views and +200k likes.
verivery's sales went down from cb to cb tho

tbh, i started using akp since for the first time since i left the site in 2013 last year bc onhallyu is next to dead. akp's community is only slightly larger but far more active. people just want an active community so they can chat shit at the end of the day. most of the users there have knowledge of how shitty akp is at being a "news site" and what a prick johnny is, but that doesn't make the community any less active. the site got revamped in the first place bc some 15 year old users started using johnny pics in their dps and spamming johnny's account and he got mad at them so the revamp is basically punishment to the "toxic community". but its actually surprising and a good sign that the news portion of the website is quite dead. they've even resorted to using user posts as "articles"... idt akp will stay as active after this.
