  1. Was starting to feel empty going so long without some arguing, lol.

My opinion: I think everything is fine to a certain extent.

Fanfics are fine as long as you aren't blinded into delusion.

Pics at the airport are fine as long as you keep your distance and aren't in their face. If they say no pics, then don't make them ask more than once.

Stalking them on their vacation is definitely another level of invasion of privacy. The girls have been friendly to fans with cameras at the airport before. So I don't necessarily think that they have a problem with that alone.

  2. someone reposted this on tumblr and reminded me why sooyoung ruins every bias list.

    tumblr_modxloo4sJ1qdzvrro1_500.gif

Lol Sooyoung...I'm gonna need to steal this line to defend myself from judgmental friends.

    :chu:   :lub:  :ilove:

OMG this last picture has me biting my lip to not laugh out loud.

Okay, so that Flower Power English remake is better than I would've imagined. I take back what I said before. But still, I'd rather them not do remakes.

  3. So I watched the first episode of Hello Baby and loool~

Yoona and Yuri (feat. Sooyoung) being butthurt is priceless.  And Taeyeon saying "nipple" instead of "pacifier".  (plus glimpses of her ahjumma laugh, I love it when she does that)

The one I sympathized the most with in this episode is Tiffany tho. She seems so distressed all the time, trying really hard but being really heartbroken when she fails.  She's reminding me of myself...well I used to be like that until my cousin was born and through interacting with him I got a little bit more comfortable with kids.

All in all, pretty enjoyable.  Where's Jessica tho? o:

Don't be ecstatic just yet. :P I tend to take a lot of time before I actually choose a bias I stay with. That said I could see me biasing Sunny. So far :)

I actually want to watch another episode of Hello Baby now but my eyes are already closing...so I'll do that tomorrow I guess.

There's lots of Yoonyul on HB, haha. Probably the most memorable thing for me when I first watched it.

Yeah, prepare to do more sympathizing with Tiff. The two do eventually get more comfortable with each other though. It was nice to watch.

I think Jessica is gone a lot because of Legally Blonde musical. From what I remember though, Taeyeon is absent the most. Probably because of radio DJing and WGM.

You definitely need to check out Invincible Youth after this. I bet you'll fall for Sunny even more

I think they're doing an English version of IGAB though...iirc it was mentioned a looong time ago back when IGAB was getting all that worldwide press. I like the song but if they do make an English version I hope it won't be their lead single.

:>_>: Yeah, as long as it's not their lead single. It's not like I hate the song. But I just don't imagine it going over well here...

Lol no it wasn't you or anybody in particular at all!  Just saying there's been so much negativity and intense criticism about literally EVERYTHING the girls have released recently. Seems like I'm one of the only ones who have enjoyed pretty much everything they've been giving us and I'm looking forward to whatever they do next. I refuse to be pessimistic about it. Sorry if it seemed like I was singling anyone out because I wasn't at all!

I love how you're always so upbeat about everything. You're like the guy who's always smiling and always finds something to be happy about. Hope it never changes :)

  4. I agree, if SNSD wants to be taken seriously in the US, they need to steer clear of the rapping. Fast talking would be okay as long as it's just 1-2 lines, not IGAB where the whole song is this fast talk-rap thing. And I don't think their Japanese material like Flower Power, Beep Beep, etc would be well received.

As much as I like their more "badass" sounding songs like Oscar, I do think they would find more success with Taylor Swift kinda stuff.

And am I the only one who does not get the obsession with Animal and Reflection??

  5. If I wanted an award that was available on H8 but isn't up on OH, does it count as a custom award? It's for an artist named Khalil Fong, and I liked the picture that was used before. I can't find that picture online though, so I'd have hard time requesting it as a custom award.

  6. Yup he can't...that's why he never swallowed it. Can't eat watermelons either xD...(weird guy). That's why he never swallowed it...you know once you have something bad-tasting in your mouth the fastest way to get rid of it without it being disgusting is swallowing it down fast, but he couldn't cause allergy. I dunno if he was being a selfless gentleman or just straightout dumb and forgot about his allergy when he agreed to do it for her. xD

I didn't even start yet.  I have some dramas to catch up on and a book to read for uni so... But I guess I'll start on Sunday or something. With Hello Baby.  :la:

    What a gentleman~

Hope you like HB! Their baby is really young, so rather than a lot of member interaction with a kid, you get to see members finding ways to entertain themselves (ie lots of goofing off).

I hope everyone's right with the Sooyoung prediction. Then my top 3 biases will have made my life complete  :har:

  7. :ahmagah:  :ahmagah: YURI GOT INSTAGRAM! Wonder what kind of things she'll like/follow. No doubt, a ton of mickey mouse stuff...

You evil evil person should get into marketing.  :unimpressed:

LOL is that that episode where Jessica is told to eat the cucumber but she can't eat cucumbers so Onew eats it in her stead but thing is he can't eat cucumbers either so he just spit it out right after that? XDD

Not that I watched it I just saw gifs xD

Yup! That's the one. Onew can't eat cucumbers either? I know that that dish was also made to taste bad, which I thought was the primary reason he spit it out. But yeah, keep us updated on what you think as you watch their variety stuff!

  8. Couple pages late, but oh well...

It's not even about a censorship of discussions or opinions. Believe it or not, there's a way to share an opinion and/or criticize SNSD/certain members without having to bring down the other members or users. It's about common courtesy. Not that I can't "handle" the tea discussion, but the tryhard sass is annoying and a turnoff. This place should have a friendly and inviting atmosphere for discussion/spazz/whatever. Not a place for people to obnoxiously shut down other people and walk around with a superiority complex.

  9. No it's a fair point and one to consider. All groups peak. Has SNSD peaked? do they still have another peak? Does it matter?

Ofc, personal opinion about said song mean absolutely nothing about those questions and that's where the noise comes in.

Honestly, I do think they've peaked. Or at least plateaued. Chances for another peak? There's a chance with Japan, but it's iffy. Does it matter? To their careers- I'm expecting more solo activities. To SM- time to build up their new cash cow. To me- not really, still a fan. I do wonder how they'll feel when they pass their peak though. Reminds me of Jolin Tsai's song on the topic. Not even a fan of hers but damn if that didn't make me depressed.

I posted this in another thread but I'll paste it here since it sums up my feelings:

In terms of maturity, the group takes 1 step forward and then 2 steps back. There isn't a coherent evolution.

Part of the fanbase - mostly Korean and Japanese it seems - want them to stay with the cutesy aegyo concepts while the other part wants them to grow up for good. The division between the two is apparent in basically everything they do. They have to put out songs like My J and Say Yes to counteract Oscar and Trick. They release Japanese Oh!, Beep Beep, and Love&Girls to balance out their other Japanese singles.

As "experimental" as IGAB may seem, the whole chorus is still repetitive, monotonous, and hookish - i got a boy munchin, i got a boy chicken, i got a boy fjalfkjajlfa, i got a boy asadfalhjlfa. Korea's producers are stuck in a major rut - from SM to YG to Brave Bros. Kenzie [the genius behind ITNW] was one of SM's best producers and now she's putting out songs like Why So Serious and Wolf... like do I even need to say more? There needs to be a balance between bland/generic (Yoohoo, Love&Girls) and clusterfuck/chaos (WYN, IGAB).

If you look outside of the SNSD fandom, people seriously question how deserving SNSD is of their current top dog status. And I can't say I disagree.

    2neways...

fave Soshi songs are Destiny, Show!x3, Wake Up, you-aholic, Oscar, Express 69, and Reflection.

    what about you?

Okay, I agree with you here. But I wouldn't call this fan complacency so much as inability to move on from the past. Here's one move SM does with the fans in mind. Aren't you all about what the fans want?  :hehe:

Get out, you didn't like Wolf!? Lol. Anyways, I think that the idea of IGAB could've been better executed (ie not sounding like a clusterfuck on first listen) without having to mix in any bland and generic. But I get your point and I think SM would be better off picking up more in-house producers.

Definitely see your "type" in songs. As for some of mine: Oscar, Trick, RDR, Starx3, Beginning, Genie, Bad Girl, Born to be a lady, Day by day, Chocolate Love, Mistake, Be happy

LOL, jokes on that last one.

  10. I think the biggest problem with all of the success SNSD has earned is that fans are quick to bring it up as an excuse for everything they do.

It enables complacency - not just on our part, but also on SM's.

If you see my posts around the rest of the forum, you'll know how I feel about the direction k-pop is going in.

It's like all these groups set bars for themselves and they're just not able to reach them again.

I know that you like old SNSD material over their recent move away from the traditional kpop song blueprint. I like their old stuff too, but I'd gag if they went back to their lollipop waving days. And from the perspective of SM, I think it's more experimental rather than complacency. I think the were trying to set a new trend, stand out from the crowd and lead the way--in other words, get them to the next level--rather than throwing 5 songs together last minute, even though that might've been what it sounded like.

So what are your favorite snsd songs btw since I've only seen your disdain for their recent singles.

  11. True but my point is that experimentation, line distribution and/or other fan grievances will not speed up that inevitable decline nor does it mean the actual group itself is on a sharp decline. It's much better to be at the top of an ivory tower looking down than being at the bottom looking at the top.

Honestly, SNSD's status at #1 isn't necessarily in doubt but not because of SNSD but because other groups simply haven't made the step they've needed to take to go to #1 sans SISTAR. There is a lot of stagnation in general but thats another discussion for another day.

I'd say it's debatable whether or not promoting more traditional hook songs like Gee and Oh could garner them more long term success. But I'm glad they're not going that route. But yeah, my sidebar really had nothing to do with the point you were making. Just something I've been thinking for a while and felt like getting out there.

  12. I got a minus for saying this on tiff thread

People you aint korean so try to see something from their view

I know because my country have the same manner too.

everyone have a place that they think it's important or should I say respectable? I cant find the right words lol. But I hope you get my point.

    feel free to minus me.

I saw your post earlier and +1'd it. I think you have a point.  :)

  13. The root word of fan is fanatical for a reason. We aren't here to make logical sense. We are here to push upon our desires and hopes on a group that aren't realistic all of the time nor should they be shunned.

I just don't get why we tend to act like SNSD is this struggling, barely making it group that will disband or fall apart because they have one underperforming song or one instance where they didn't reach our sales mark or because fans want things that don't make financial sense. SNSD is not going to disband because they tried to experiment on a song. SNSD isn't going to disband because they give Hyoyeon or Sooyoung more than 1 line in a song. SNSD isn't going to fucking disband or lose their place because fans wish for them to do things that may not make logical sense.

I (and haze) stan Crayon Pop, a group that we would celebrate actually hitting the Melon chart, let alone hitting the roof. I think our thread will go nuts if we are 99th on the Melon chart. WE have to concern ourselves more with sales simply  because the group's very existence is dependent on it. From that perspective, I find most of this wank comical and the sign of a fandom who has forgotten how lucky they have it.

Going off on a tangent here...I'm a fan who thinks this fandom has taken SNSD's #1 spot and all of their countless awards and achievements, built it up for more than it's worth, and think the girls are in a much more comfortable and safer seat than they actually are. IMO, the era of idols is clearly on the decline. And SNSD have clearly lost some ground. I don't mean that they're closer to losing their #1 position. But that they don't hold as big of a share at #1 as they did a couple years ago. Mainly because of other groups gaining popularity, the debut of like 100 other groups, and them no longer promoting 24/7. Rather than forgetting how lucky we are, I think we've forgotten that SNSD isn't invincible. (Just to clarify, this has absolutely nothing to do with a more even line distribution). I don't mean to say that they're about to disband or lose their place on top soon. But more like I think their decline is coming sooner than a lot of people think or are willing to believe.

Whew...I tried to word that as softly as I could. Gonna end this on a different note so I don't get accusations of being emo like my bias.

    Taeyeon+SNSD+Girls'+Generation+Cute+DJ+Gtumblr_lyqnu9gIcc1qig963o1_500.gif

If shit like this actually goes down on a scheduled basis, it would make life so much easier for me to plan on being around and jumping right on in.

And if I can get the both of 'em to mud wrestle with me while having The Boys on repeat in the background at some point in time, since dmn will be showing both emotional connect and curiosity at this point while stormy will have let go of all his KPOP regrets, then it can only be attributed to me getting back into prime hazee shape.

    Looking forward to the show

  14. Should we continue to stray into open gossip about the two of them by saying they might be more alike than either realize   :ahmagah:

i'm out of making stupid perverted snsd jokes shape, that took twice the time it normally used to take me to instantly corrupt everything

And thank you for doing haz as haz does. Although I see someone's getting a bit rusty.

  15. now I'm just confused.

    Lol, me too honestly.

I like discussion but I wish it didn't always have to turn into an argument. It's hard to have a normal discussion here these days without people attacking each other because they don't agree. It doesn't have to be all positive all the time, but there is a way to respectfully disagree rather than just coming at someone out of the blue with your claws out.

Nah, I think most people are at least a little bit cynical about it. It's a huge undertaking and since there hasn't been a successful kpop act here yet it makes sense for people to be skeptical. But I'd rather the girls try than play it safe and only stay in Korea/Japan. They're attempting to grow and expand and it keeps them doing new things. I'm excited for the possibilities but am also keeping a (somewhat) realistic mindset. More than anything, I'm just excited to (hopefully) get an album to sing along to and UNDERSTAND \o/

That's definitely one side to things. I would really just prefer them focus on Asia, and more specifically Japan/Korea though.

    I can argu-debate that point u_u

And I generally know Stormy's POV on things or I'm not surprised by things he says, although we don't talk as much anymore, but reviewing one exchange between them is enough to get the general gist of dmn's side of things :D

dmn has an pretty straight forward naivety that you kinda gotta dig deep down into patience to look for before you take offense to anything he says -- he's learning, he'll be rainbows and SNSD butterfly feels on the outside just as much as he probably is on the inside  :chu:

Stormy's pov in these arguments are just as predictable as dmn's though imo. Both have good points that I agree with, but I think both also let their personal opinions cloud their views. Either way, I'd say they're both pretty stubborn and have a hard time understanding something from someone else's perspective. Dmn more so than storm though bc he's such a...unique fan. Easy to see why people don't get how his numbers are his way of looking out for snsd's best interests.

  16. Shush! I saw people talking about this on twitter so I had to see it for myself, I NEEDS MORE VERBAL FOREPLAY

Lol...it's on twitter? Looks like you're in for a letdown though since things kinda died down. No worries though! Bc you can just go back about 200 pages or so and get off on their previous fight.

Honestly, both sides make good points. I tend to lean on storm's side myself as it's not our job as fans to be overly concerned with financial sales or the stock of SM Entertainment. SNSD isn't a mid tier girl group (I know, I stan two of them) who heavily relies on their digital sales for their future. SNSD can literally be picky with their music and take chances like give members more than a 5 second snippet of a title song without SNSD's sales going down into the toilet or SM's stock price dropping. It is possible to do both.

Both sides probably aren't going to flinch though and I think that's the sense of most's frustration. It is literally the same argument over and over again.

I agree and disagree with both. Mainly though, I can't believe that they keep arguing knowing full well neither is going to change opinions. Even more so, I can't believe I still skim through their arguments. Can't say whether I don't want to miss out or if I'm waiting for them to bring up something new.

If you start a argu-debate about posters who argu-debate about fandom disagreements and argu-debates, does it make you an argu-debater about argu-debating over fandom argu-debates?

CAN WE A YO GG ???

I believe it makes me an argu-debater about other agu-debaters who argue-debate over fandom argu-debates.

Not sure whether or not we just said the same thing...

  17. Nothing else to do really XD

    I've got a better topic. :) Who's less of a "sone"?

Dmn who doesn't spazz, only seems to concern himself with quantifiable output of the group, and is fine with the inequality of spotlight distribution?

Or stormbreaker who is quite vocal in his disappointment with the latest soshi singles, and his dislike/indifference of other members?

:hehe: I'm joking. I think qualifications for being a sone are dumb much less having other people tell you whether or not you're a fan of something. Besides, I like both users--when they're not at each others' throats.

Sidenote, I think people are mostly complaining about the "bashing" of other snsd members rather than the bashing on other users.

In my family there's christians, buddhist and atheists, it's always the same thing when we have family reunions. It doesn't help they all cheer for different teams -_-

That sounds like a nightmare...my condolences.

I don't think it should be used as a primary promotional tactic. Maybe show it online or something. I did say they could sub it :P Just something extra to help spread the word. I know how artists usually promote here but I'm trying to think outside the box a little. SM is going to have to be very creative in the way they promote the girls because US hasn't seen anything quite like them before. If they're smart they'll do the typical promoting and then some to give the girls as much exposure as possible

I guess. I'm also just a bit more cynical about their US venture anyways.

  18. I thought....we were done with the dmnXstorm fight. Really now....I feel like I'm on a merry-go-round and we're back to the same page we were on about a month ago. Aren't you guys tired of fighting about the same thing and repeating the same points?

    Hi :DDDDD and thanks ♥

That sentence had Onew in it hence, I am convinced.   :datass:
xDDD But seriously now, I'll watch it :)

I guess I'll save the Invincible Youth stuff for later then, when I know the whole group a bit better :D

 It's all about how you market. Figured throwing in their names would get your attention.

Well I don't necessarily mean a show in English, I just think it would be interesting to watch. But yeah I'm sure that's why they don't have a Japanese show. It makes it harder when the majority of the girls don't speak the language.

I do think a variety/reality show would be interesting whenever they start promoting in the US/west. They could even sub Factory Girl and show it. The US audience would get a kick out of seeing them in New York. Plus I think it would help people connect with them more to see their personalities and Dork Shidae in action

I think variety soshi is one of their greatest appeals and may very well be the reason they've been able to cement themselves at the top. With that said, I don't imagine them being successful in that regard in the US. 1) because variety shows aren't big here. 2) artists don't promote that way. 3) their english isn't good enough.

  19. So...uhm...hi?  :meow:

    My name's Janine, I'm a 91-liner and...

actually I'm pretty new to SNSD. Well not exactly new okay, Gee was like one of my first Kpop-Songs (honestly, I can't recall whether it was RDD, Sorry Sorry or Gee) and I've known them for quite a while now. Right now I only stan boy groups, but I've known for a while that I'd totally become a SONE if I just had the time for another group (honestly, my bias groups are SJ, B2ST, Infinite and SHINee and among them I only follow SHINee closely...I'm wondering how some people deal with  hardcore-stanning more than 1-2 groups...if one of you can do that please teach me your ways.  ).

But I don't know, it has come to a point where I'm like "fuck life okay these girls are precious (well what I know about them) and their music is awesome more often than not and I cannot say that about many other girl groups (I only ever like 1-2 songs per girl group usually) so yolo". And yeah now I'm here. xD (Tho I'll probably only start posting regularly once my summer brea starts in 4 weeks)

I've known their names and positions in the group for years now, and I know all their songs/MVs, I also watched the Yongseo Couple on WGM back then (the good old days), but apart from that...

I'm a person who focuses on the music, so I'd never get interested in a group if I didn't like the music, but for me to stan/bias a group I need to know more about them so... what can I watch?  I know there are some variety shows and stuff but what would be good to watch for newbie-fans?

As for bias...I'm still in the process of finding one. A few days ago I was like "Hmm, you need to choose a SNSD bias..." but then I realized "Wait you don't choose your bias, your bias chooses you"...and that hasn't happened to me for SNSD yet, so as of now, I don't have one. Just gonna wait patiently for one of the girls to "pick me". XD

P.S.: I talk a lot, you might've noticed. Well, somtimes I do. I hope you don't mind.

    Hi and welcome!

I love giving soshi recommendations! There's a lot of people who have an opinion on this, and I don't want to overwhelm you with shows, so I'll just say that Hello Baby and Dangerous Boys are good choices.

IMO though, you absolutely MUST watch some of their guest appearances on shows (not whole seasons).

Intimate Note and Night Star (ep 27 and 28, which Onew and Eunhyuk are MCs) especially. These two I've rewatched over and over and still get a kick out of. On the downside though, Tiffany is absent from both. Win win ep 11 and the Star golden bell eps are good too.

My all time favorite is Invincible Youth season 1, but it's not a good one to get familiar with all of SNSD.
