  1. Hello! It's been forever since I last visited OH, but I recently got into some new groups (specifically JBJ and The Boyz) and like some members of both these groups seem interesting to me. I wanted to know what you guys' opinion on this was before really forming mine (also considering I haven't watched much of BJ's show itself and a lot of my opinions are formed from either pd101 or other activities outside jbj).

As for the Boyz, The members that seem to be gay to me ae Q, Kevin and maybe Jacob. A lot of this is based off of mannerism as I haven't really seen them interacting with guys much. I do know that one of my mutuals on Twitter went to a fansign and said that Q was very flirtatious.

  2.  Yes. I'm around 15^^. 14/15.

I barely say anything in this thread because I'm bad with vocal pedagogy (but I know everyone because I've been lurking since I first had this account) and stuff, but this had me shaking! I thought you were 20!

On this youngest/oldest conversation: I'm 15 years old, so I'm the second youngest here I think.

Might seem like a dumb question to some, but can you teach yourself 'classical singing' or is that impossible?

  3. vying for attention of the same sex doesn't necessarily translate to a gay or even a romantic context, and especially not when you're one of the youngest in a group. if you've seen the p101 dance battle scene where the girls came out, he, along w samuel, were one of the most excited/happy ones. the most i'll take is that he's bi-curious, since guys his age most often are.

I must've seen the episode differently, but if you can could you send me a clip of that particular episode?

It doesn't necessarily translate to that but let's be real, more often than not, straight guys are more interested in getting the attention of females than males. Of course there's often a desire to impress your peers and especially those who are older but if a male shows a clear preference for gathering male attention I don't see any logical reason why we should toss that out or ignore it when it is obvioiusly somewhat out of the norm. This is not about Jinyoung but a general thought.

On a related note, I personally don't have an opinion but I need to say one thing. I don't mean to be accusatory but I do feel like I'm noticing another example of the trend I whined about before: Jinyoung posts about one female celebrity and it's a sure thing that he's straight yet he's physically been in multiple suspicious situations with males (if my Korean friends are to be believed in regards to some of his interactions, particularly with Daehwi) and that's summarily dismissed.

I'm asking everyone in general: Can we please please please just keep at least the same standards for every orientation? Can we please stop automatically labeling people as straight unless we have the same amount of "evidence" as it would take to convince us to suspect someone of being gay (if not even more to compensate for the pressure that society places on people to be straight)? If they "don't ping" or you don't know can we please just say that outright rather than jumping to "straight"? Can we stop labeling people as bi unless we have reason to suspect that they are attracted to males and females? I am begging you guys. It's that important.

This. That's why I said that just because he liked Kyulkyung, doesn't mean he's straight. Until now I think (I'm pretty sure) he likes men, he could also be interested in women, but it's arbitrary and there hasn't been a lot of interactions to go off.

  4. your gaydar failed you on jinyoung tbh. he had an obsession w pinky of ioi pre-debut. he literally used to post pictures of her all over his facebook.

You're right, but that could also just be a celeb crush? A lot of (gay) people stan very pretty women and obsess over them despite not being sexually attracted. (See male Ariana fans). I haven't seen any of the female interactions that Jinyoung had except for the fansigns and the Kyulkyung thingy, so idk about his interest in women, but it is evident that he at least likes the attention of men.

  5. I'm just going to butt in - if you want to extend your mix then you need to work on whatever is your weaker register. So if you're really chesty and you feel like you're shouting as you ascend, practice with head voice a lot. Essentially just use it a lot, it's just to kinda exercise and train the muscles. But yeah if your mix is weak or has an audible flip where it gets weak, you need to train your chest voice - that's babykbk's thing rn lol

Tbh, I'm still not too sure how I mix. It seems like I have a headier mix, but this is only when I'm singing songs like A Pink's I Don't Know. When I'm singing songs like EXO's My Answer I tend to strain and get throaty (I think). So I don't know what it is I'm weak at, but considering my lower range is quite weak, I guess I'll have to work on my chest.

Considering you're a male and your lower range only extends to E3 and your chest is weak start with chest. My chest is very underdeveloped as well but l can sing in a high range easily. There's no use in singing high if you can't support it and don't have the basics of chest coordination first is what I've learnt so I'm working on chest more now to develop support and strengthen my mix. Of course that doesn't mean only work on chest but you should try to develop it it's super important.

???? I have no idea what those are. Is it like breath support and such? To increase stamina or? I'm still quite confused about how I am supposed to work on my chest.

  6. Slayyyyyyy I love your voice, have such a soulful voice. Both your covers are in a comfortable range. Your voice reminds me of someone but I can't put my finger on it. What's your Range??

Actually, scratch me saying I don't know my range lol. It's actually E3-F5(F#5) I have a tragic lower range with an okay upper range. I didn't make notes of my comfortable range though. When it comes to singing I want to develop both my upper and lower range, but idk what has priority lol.

  7. Slayyyyyyy I love your voice, have such a soulful voice. Both your covers are in a comfortable range. Your voice reminds me of someone but I can't put my finger on it. What's your Range??

Awh thanks. I haven't heard anyone say my voice reminds them of someone so that's new lol. I actually don't know my range because I did try to do the piano range test, but I suck at copying a note from a piano lol (I think my voice goes up to like an E5 or something, but once again, I suck at this range testing thing)

  8. Falsettos don't necessarily always have to be super airy, Theres varying degrees of control of airiness. Vocalists with headier mixes would be Jo Kwon, Eunji(I think she's more heady now than before) and Seohyun. Send a recording! I'm curious about your voice.

I'll try to send one of my older recordings later even if it's recorded with a shitty mic and very stylized

  9. There should be a flip between your registers me a change in effort, tone and power( if your mix is heady or you use a weak falsetto it's more obvious with the transitions. Do you know Beyonces Halo? At the start of he song with remember those walls l built etc she uses chest and then in the Halo Halo chorus she's belting in mix. Then with the ooh ooh ooh parts near the end that's her voice. For me it feels like a flip like a change in gears. You should send a clip of you singing if you can't identify your registers. A good indicator that you're in mixed voice is if you're belting. A good way to find Head Voice is by singing ooh ooh.

Thanks for the response! I guess I should make a recording because I'm still quite unsure. Aren't all falsettos weak? I thought it was impossible to support in falsettos... Also what are some examples of vocalists with a more heady mix, because until now almost every vocalist I've read about had a chesty or balanced mix and I don't know if my mix is either (though I'm pretty sure I'm on the more chestier side). When singing oohs, doesn't your voice at a certain point switch from an actual head voice to a falsetto? I think my head voice is pretty okay, but it could just be my falsettos aren't very airy. idek

  10. uhhh what? me and BabyKBK are homies and I'm not even sure what you are referring to anyway. Who are u, tho...?

I was in this thread before way back in 2015 under a different dp,name, sig, everything even different biases. I wasn't being serious about you being shady lol, but conveying such things is hard on the internet you know, since you can't hear me say the things I said.

  11. no because she's a pop singer lol

you know a lot of pop singers don't really have "depressed" larynx problems. They have constriction in some way of course, and their larynx may in a lower position of various degrees, but a larynx being much too low is more of a classical singer issue. It is possible even in pop but it's just not as frequent or extreme as people view it as. I don't like this way of describing things either because it makes singing with a lower larynx appear like a bad thing when it is the COMPLETE opposite when you do it correctly. There are a gazillion singers with their larynx fairly neutral and are still constricting a lot, but no one just goes and says "that note was bad because it was neutral larynx". and no one goes "that was a strained neutral larynx". But that's what happens with lower larynx singing. You are supposed to focus on the constriction, not the larynx being a bit lower lmao.

and btw all bigger singing is done with more depth/lower larynx positions, even the bigger voices people are used to hearing in pop are doing this to a noticeable degree

oh you like heady and light voices? I couldn't tell lol

Wow at you being a shady,

    again.

Lol so anyway, a lot of you stress the importance of developing a chest voice, but when exactly do you know you're transitioning from your chest to your mixed or head voice? I've been reading this for a while now and backtracked about 20 pages, but tbh, I'm learning new things, but at the same time, these new things confuse me a lot.

  12. yep. But we also can't throw out the fact the he's religious and I also think he has some attraction to shownu ever since they got close on that Ferris wheel not like couple more like emotional and sexual.

Him being religious explains a lot tbh. A lot of religious gay people (at least the ones I know) before they come out always become very no-homo when a homo situation arises, but tbh it just makes them more suspicious to me.

  13. Yeah he pinged me that way too, but he also had some sorta awkward "no-homo, we bro's" moments with Jooheon and I got super confused. When he was asked who he would date in MX he was kinda insistent that it was only "if he was a girl" (his answer was Shownu btw). I kinda expected him to be more exposed to LBGT stuff since he lived abroad for a long time, so that's why these moments really stuck out to me. It's just weird because he seems pretty comfortable initiating skinship? Especially with certain members (like...Shownu) imstupid.png

Yeah I've seen those no-homo bro moments, but those could also be the result of him not coming to terms with himself. (Or just being a straight bro, lol idek) It seems like Shownu is the center of attention when it comes to other members' affection imstupid.png

  14. yes! But that's the confusing part of shownu tho he seems very chill when it happens but he also seems to enjoy it at the same time idk maybe I'm being crazy but only time will tell.

I honestly don't think you're crazy, I've always thought he was bi/gay because of the way he lets his fellow members (Minhyuk) do the things they do to him and he does seem to like it at times.

Which reminds me, I always thought I.M might be into men, but it's always been speculation and I don't have any "receipts" so what do you all think?

  15. Ayy what is this talk about Jinyoung distancing himself from Daehwi? Do not tell me the pressure of debuting already got to him? The mask breaking off? Jinyoung started to get uncomfortable with this whole gay act? Poor baby Daehwi then. I do feel he really does have that little, wait no, major crush on the guy. And Jihoon is straight to some? I can see where you guys are coming from but sometimes his mannerism pings me buuuut it might as well be that he is so good at acting like what the fetishists liked to see.

And what of OngNiel? I do not feel anything between those two but this is coming from me that just started to follow Wanna One only after their debut and not during PD101. So yeah, OngNiel seems straight to me.

Ongniel have always seemed like straight bros lol. Both during pd101 and now I've always thought the same thing.

    opinions on my man Jisung?

W1's Jisung? I don't really know, he has stereotypical gay mannerisms, but he seems straight to me, however, it's ambiguous.

Just because they, I don't know, hug a group member it doesn't mean they're gay. It's not directed at everyone, just a few delulu ones. And if you take offense it's probably for a good reason.

Most people in this thread write such behaviour off as fanservice though.
