Rest of the interview for Cosmopolitan PART IIC: You came to the airport in Junya Watanabe pants and a white Iro shirt with about 30 holes in it. You seem to be very interested in fashion. If you could pick just one designer to send you unlimited clothes for the rest of your life, who would it be? T: This is way too hard of a question! Then wouldn’t that mean I can’t wear other people’s clothes? Haha. Usually, I mainly wear neat, comfortable t-shirts that suit my frame. I like designs that look worn and tattered, too, with a “French mood.†C: You’ve probably been hearing people tell you you’re handsome all your life. Who’s the most handsome in your eyes? T: Lee Seungwoo, who joined FC Barcelona’s B team in the free season, seems the most handsome to me lately. The way he’s still young, yet so full of spirit, is really cool to see. C: I’m curious who has influenced you the most throughout your life. Have you ever thought about wanting to become like someone? T: I respect and like many seniors, but the person who had the biggest impact on me was Rain sunbae-nim. I started wanting to become a singer after seeing Rain sunbae-nim’s performance. C: I hear you’re close with Exo’s Kai. What does it look like when the two of you meet up on a day with no schedules? T: So ordinary that it would probably seem boring. All we do is go eat and watch a movie. To be honest, even when I hang out with Kai I’m still bored. C: Seeing you in denim with your hair up for this photoshoot gave me flashbacks of a young James Dean. Dane DeHaan is playing James Dean in a movie recently, and he would probably look like this. If you could transform into someone else in a play, who would it be? T: I can’t say he resembles me, but if I can recall someone who no longer exists in this world, I would choose Michael Jackson. His songs and achievements are almost godlike, and he’s my past and present role model. C: Other than singing and dancing, what other ability would you want the most? T: I want to learn more foreign languages. But why does it feel like I’m lousy at Korean too? Haha. C: What do you think is most important when you look at someone (i.e. assess one’s character)? T: I like people of honorable character who know how to show consideration for others. And when they speak or act, it has to come across as genuine. C: You began training when you were still in elementary school, so I wonder what you were like during puberty. If you hadn’t become a singer, what would you be doing right now? T: Once I became a trainee, I watched a lot of videos of different musicians and focused on envisioning my future. Unlike my peers, I didn’t even like female actresses or have an ideal type. I was engrossed solely in my dream. Even if I hadn’t become a singer, whatever it is (that I’d be doing instead) I think I’d live my life working really hard on it. C: What will Taemin look like 10 years from now? Fans are wondering whether you’ll still be dancing and singing like now, even when you’re past your mid-30s. T: I don’t know how long I’ll be a singer for. But one thing that’s for sure, is the fact that right now the moments I get to stand on stage really bring me joy. After 10 years, won’t I possibly be enjoying more personal (i.e. private) time than I do now? If I could have things my way right now, I wish I could travel all over the world.
