  1. Just watched BTOB's "You're the Best" cover and I have to say those guys really impressed me. They took the song, made some small changes and ran with it. Even some nice harmonies, a nice rap,... actually I'd reccomend to watch it. Really a great cover. Meanwhile our girls, probably because they were sick, didn't do a perfect job as they usually do (the song was hard, Solar really strained on the high notes and went of pitch once or twice, Hwa Sa forgot a small part, a Whee In + Solar harmony was a little off...), but it's okay,... they are human after all BTW Whee In is really looking tired and always sweating and not even making one smile in the last couple of performances... they probably need a break for a couple of days. BTW - Whee In slayed the king of Mask performance. Can't wait to see what she'll sing next time.
  2. In my opinion Mamamoo attracts a lot of people with music background (instrument players, singers, sound techs, etc...), at least that's what I noticed here and on reddit, and that's one of the reasons you get some pretty big walls of text or more in-depth analysis about their music/performances. I think that Moomoos in general are not too critical, but it's just that moomoos are, let's say, a little more demanding I think. When you get conditioned to the quality/sound of what RBW/Mamamoo produce, it's hard to not notice when a song is lacking something. That doesn't mean this song (or any other non-RBW collabo) isn't good, it's just that moomoos tend to have a more "specific taste" and analyze things a little bit more in detail I noticed, so that's why we may sound like that.
  3. So, my two cents: as a guitar player and rock soul I love it whenever the instrumentals are played by real instruments and have that rock sound to it. The idea/concept of the song was great, the execution not so much. I liked the instrumental, the singing by both of them was nice, but the mix was just strange to put it nicely... the instrumental is too loud, the guitar clashes with Whee In's vocal so much that at times you can't even hear her even if Heechul and Whee In are singing in duet practically almost throughout 3/4 of the song. This I really liked since it remembered my of a lof of anime songs with that type of singing. Heechul impressed me (I didn't know him before) since he didn't get drowned by the instrumental and actually sang really well. Both of the singers did great in my opinion, but the mix just, well, puts the instrumental too much in the front... Here's obvious the difference between a master like KDH and whoever did the mix on this song.
  4. So many new moomoos in here... the radish field is growing!
  5. Welcome to the Moomoodom. I think there's a lot of us here that have Mamamoo as the entrance point (or exception) to Kpop in comparison to our "usual" music genre tastes I myself am a guy too, older and listen except for Mamamoo and a couple of other Kpop/Kartists to completely different music genres as you do, so, just trying to say you're not alone. There's more and more guys I'm seeing, so Mamamoo is slowly becoming a really great mixture of fans of both/all genders, ages, etc... probably one of the most unique you can find Who's your bias (if you have it) in the group?
  6. Wow! This one really cought HwaSa's sassyness nicely. Great pic!
  7. WOW! The camerawork in the MV didn't do justice to her dance segment. This looked pretty awesome! Seeing her whole body, the whole dance part looks much stronger, more intense. Those moves were very smooth and... well, I knew she slays, but this was actually awesome! BTW I was checking to see how Woo Hoo is doing on Melon and I saw that You're The Best is still in 9th place... Mamamoo continue to be the queens of longevity.
  8. I like it very much, probably going to become one of my faves. The song is giving me "Peppermint Chocolate" vibes, and the girls did really great. Some of the high notes are really impressive and the Moonbyul break was a nice surprise too. Now, going to listen to it some more...
  9. So much great news... Mamamoo on KCON (I'm really envious of you Americans for this, you get Mamamoo for the 3rd time already... but well... I hope you'll enjoy it and post some nice fancams and scream until your throats go out for our girls ), that really intriguing and great sounding OST for LG and all the news around it - GET THE MONEY GIRLS!!!
  10. Scripted? Wait... how much? Like in detail (including behaviour) or just they're put in scripted situations where they can behave as they want? Because Solar and scripts are like oil and water, they don't mix at all... I'm asking because I never watched, but since Solar's going to be on it, I'll probably give it a try...
  11. WOW! These guys are awesome! Gotta check out more about them...
  12. Whee In froze in the opening segment and once again inbetween, but after that it was super-smooth sailing - for her first time I think she did great (better than Solar's first one). Solar on the other hand seemed awesome, almost no reading, smooth and full of body language and charisma - in my opinion even better than the guy. It's impressive that just after 3 times she's so good at it. Wondering what was that "mamavelvet" segment the guy asked both of them about...
  13. OMG!!! I know they make some great gifs... but this one is like...whoever did it, did a fantastic job! It's hilarious!
  14. And people say Mamamoo don't have male fans... ... just found these two interesting vids while surfing on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IDNxaC6w9c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg9aCp58v3w
  15. Fuck... failed at Whee In... 2 seconds in... lol it's impossible...
  16. Mamamoo attracts males too believe me, I'm one of them and I pay attention when I see a fellow male MMM stan... but females are just more open/vocal about it, more expressive and get invested much more then us guys I think Definitely the female fans are in bigger number, since naturally there is a bigger number of them as kpop fans in general, but Mamamoo does a pretty good job of catering their music to people of both sexes and a lot of different generations. That's one of the biggest charms of Mamamoo in my opinion: they cover a much wider age spectre than other respective kpop "idol groups". To me the most surprising stat from that is the K-males are this big of a percentage... since half the time we get Nbuzz/Pann posts where they bash their aesthetics I thought (as you probably) the difference would be bigger but it seems (as always) internet warped our sight - those hate posts were done maybe by females incognito (jelly much? ) I find a lot of times people just go "Yeah, male fans look only at aesthetics" but this is a generalization, since in other musical genres (especially in the west) guys can get pretty intense fans, much more than their female counterparts, believe me...
  17. I don't know, I'm a guy and I find Moonbyul in pants it's a lot more attractive then being dressed in skirts,... I always see her moving kind of awkwardly in skirts but It's maybe just my imagination. Still, I'd pay to see Moonbyul again in leather pants like these:
  18. This was acutallly... awesome! There's some small spots they don't do on stage which really make it even better... I have to admit they really are dancing more choreographed this time then with songs in the past, I don't know how to explain since I don't know dance words, but in the past they had less intense movement, more walking, standing in place with small moves while singing, etc... I mean, they improved, that's what I'm getting at - they didn't lose quality in singing, but raised the quality of the dancing inbetween, which is great ------------------------------------------------------------- GREAT REVIEW ON MAMAMOO'S MELTING ALBUM ON BILLBOARD: http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/k-town/7035823/mamamoo-melting-k-pop-retro-soul?utm_source=twitter Click here to view the Tweet
  19. THE MMM DAD HAS SPOKEN!!! A really FANTASTIC interview with Kim Do Hoon (FINALLY HE OPENED UP AND GAVE AN INTERVIEW ON MAMAMOO!!!) Click here to view the Tweet Really reccomend the read... will give you some really interesting info about how Mamamoo was created, how they work behind the scenes and about how KDH sees MMM and their developement. He talks about their (and his ... but we knew that LOL) beagleness, why they release at the end of the week etc... You should read it! EDIT: added the big title ;)
  20. Nice! Thanks for pointing that out. I was wondering who the guy was. I didn't connect it with the pic they took together
  21. It happened again guys RBW once again underestimated Mamamoo's power (but I think this time all of us did, so...) .................................... Thank you kim8469!
  22. What's the second row? The one with BAP having 1200 and Mamamoo 152...?! That's an enormous difference.
  23. MMM and booze *automatically starts singing HwaSa's "Boy I like to drink..." chorus*... It's a really heartwarming vid. I don't know how many other labels shown things like these... but It's really nice to see them all celebrate like this.
  24. I'm happy. Very happy. I don't even know what to say. I'm just enjoying the moment, the slayage these girls are doing and smiling at the goals they are achieving. That's it. BTW YOONGI... big, big THANKS again for the whole translator team for the fantastic speed you guys do things. Both the Vapp and Inkigayo ending AND Weekly Idol in 1 day. That's got to be a new record
