  1. Zico is in the army, so he's a non-issue right now. Tho before he enlisted he did have a major role on I-land (survival show that produced Enhypen) Let's be real, So far it seems the acquired groups are mainly struggling or have issues with their company(s) (Gfriend, 17, Nuest, etc) Perhaps part of the problem is they're still tied to their old contracts... However all the new groups that have debuted under Hybe/BH seem to be doing well (TXT, Enhypen) and it's expected the upcoming groups will do well. It makes sense their contracts and experience will be different then the "acquired groups". Also like others have mentioned the whole point of Bighit acquiring so many companies at once was less about making huge changes to the senior groups acquired but more so about Bighit (now HYBE) going public faster.
  2. the mv is probably the best part about this. the girls look great too. stylist deserves a raise. the song is...hmmmm....well, it's not the worst song in the world i guess... and actually the instrumental isn't that bad. however i dislike the lyrics the most, ugghhh mainly the english part of the chorus. in general the company is trying to hard. i'm hoping they do a follow up comeback for one of their bsides like they did with the last two albums. there's so much potential with this groups. they're getting opportunities. but the title tracks are literally holding them back from exploding. but maybe i'm wrong.
  3. I guess lucky for BP they're not as active as a group and as popular. #the_struggles_of_being_a_"#1 group"
  4. True. Plus there's so many Armys on twitter, the like to dislike ratio is a lot more balanced lol lbr Yep. Tho Suju have a lot of haters due to some of the problematic stuff they've done over the years. BTS overall not are as problematic, therefore most of the hate they receive is due to pettiness relating to fanwars. Otherwise people are scarping the barrel trying to find a reason to say something negative about them on OH.
  5. At the end of the day, young impressionable fans hear and see a lot in this world. It's their parents jobs to guide them and hopeful raise them to know right from wrong. Not every young impressionable person is going to jump off a cliff just because someone else (or celeb) does it. I for one didn't. Bts and kpop idols in general already control (and hide) so much of their life, more then most Western celebs. Kpop idols are far from being the worse. Overall not problematic. Yet some fans/non-fans still drag them so hard for the bare minimum that they do... >< I'll just keep this short for all of our time.... i disagree with a lot of this. ^^ @hynapia and @haseul sort my exact thoughts. Again, I was lowkey surprise to see some of the comments and reactions in this thread. Tbh I actually wasn't planning to even comment on this thread. But then I started reading it. yikes (side note: I say lowkey because it's Bts. Out of all the platforms I've been on, nothing compare to the underline dislike for Bts on OH. So it's also sort of expected. Some people seem to see petty fanwars first before seeing an actual human sometimes with Bts... but we're not ready to have that conversation yet.)
  6. yep parents put a lot of trust in these companies. many idols literally move across the country to live with these companies in dorms. (side note: of course some idols don't come from good homes, so maybe moving away is a bit of freedom.) edit: also asian culture is different then western.
  7. sadly i feel even with people telling them it's hard to change something so deeply rooted. idols don't see their parents as often as the average person. many of them rarely visit due to living across the country in a different city. if i remember correctly bts once mentioned they visit their parents like 3-4 times a year. if not less. back before covid if they were not preparing for a album they were on a long tour.
  8. yea kpop industry is crazy with the Korean standard of skinny "The 26-year-old South Korean singer, actor, fashion designer and television presenter joined the recording for MBC's Radio Star in light of SHINee’s 10th-anniversary comeback. Key (Kim Ki-bum) then revealed that he had to go through a strict diet to maintain their title of “Skinny Idols.” [...] "I was called fat for the first time in my life after joining SM [Entertainment],“ Key said. The SHINee singer then shared the techniques that he tried in shedding off the pounds. (source) key is not the only one. many idols go through their life healthy at a normal weight growing up but as soon as they join the industry it all goes down hill due to the pressure place on them by staff, fans and industry in general at such a crucial age.
  9. the discussion happening now in the thread is a lot more realistic then whatever was happening in the beginning... exact same thoughts if only that was so easy, the members have admitted this after love yourself era. for some people loving yourself isn't soemthing that an easy fix for some people. it's slow and gradual. maybe take years. true.
  10. Nah you're far from the only one. The fandom is huge af and people still have a way of generalizing everything... My tl is good so far thankfully.. ^^ hmmmmm well this was the case last time too. perhaps it's best to stay neutral.
  11. Of course I don't work for Bighit, but I also don't think the company forces him. I've said since the beginning the blame is mostly due to the industry overall. There's a lot pressure to be perfect. Whether that's from direct or indirect forces. If it's not about BTS being #1, then I don't see the point of even mentioning their fame tbh. People constantly bringing it up their popularity is becoming overplayed at this point, lets be real. BTS are just as vulnerable and victims to this dark industry like any other celebrity. Being popular don't make BTS super humans or something... It's one thing being against bad diets, it's another thing entirely claiming certain idols are "promoting starvation". In most threads I've seen about idols bad diets on OH it's rare to see some of things being said with in the comments here. Idols talking about their diets or having slip up is not necessarily "promoting". And it's really weird that some of y'all continue to use that word. Ok, great for Shinee they've never spoken up about certain things. And??? ok... Of course, do remember we don't know what struggles happens behind scenes and we don't know why certain idols are able to talk about things while others don't.
  12. while i personally don't care to hear about extreme or crash diets either...i also don't think it's right for fans or non-fans to feel they have the right to control idols. to police what idols can say and do. it's this exact mindset why idols tend to keep their struggles to themselves. and then years later when they start revealing the darker sides of being in the industry suddenly everyone is so shock and wondering why idols never talked about these things earlier. the blame game starts all over again. also as i said earlier to that other user the amount of fame bts has doesn't change my opinion about them. idols have talked about these things before yet the comments in this thread is all over the place o.o. often times people either sympathize with the idols, get mad at the industry and companies, or say uplifting things about why idols don't need to diet.
  13. it's like what a few others are saying...it seems this drama is dragging extreme fans in general not focusing particularly on one lol not sure why OP made the conclusion about armys tho.. ^^
  14. recently, in the last year or so...a few i-armys have paid for them. (mainly solo stans) but yea trucks are not really something that tend to represent the fandom when people think about k-armys or i-armys..
  15. anyways crash diets are never it. unhealthy. yet we all know so many celebs do them before an important video or photoshoot. #the struggle is real
  16. i didn't say he did the exact diet. jyp at least ate lunch sometimes. but it is very possible jungkook ate supplements which is what i said in my first comment. i disagree. idols already hide so much about themselves. some stuff they don't have to, but they do so due to fear of being seen as unperfect by fans or worse. so when they mention or have slip ups like this it gives more insight about them. being the #1 group doesn't change my opinion either. that just an exscuse some people like to use to silence them, in my opinion.
  17. yea there's probably a case like this not the youngest but second youngest is the leader of enhypen. OT: i prefer when groups/companies pick members that have leadership qualities rather then just going with the oldest. being the oldest doesn't always mean you're fit to be a leader of a group.
  18. i haven't watched the actual behind the scene clip of butter yet, so i can't comment on what was actually said... but if it's true they filmed it in five days, then they probably spread everything out instead of overworking and doing it all at in 1-2 day which is common for korean companies back story: black swan mv. was the first time bighit/bts worked in the us. well specifically with western staff due to using a special venue. and there they learned about american work hours. the members were surprise that filming had to stop at certain time due to regulated work hours in the west. in korea kpop companies will literally film all day with little to no rest. meaning all the staff, camera men and more are being overworked too.
  19. If anyone is curious here are some people trying JYP diet. (I couldn't find the actual clip where he talks about it and teaches it to other idols on a variety show...perhaps it's blocked in my country now...idk) JYP diet is basically filled with so MANY supplements to replace the lack of food. He barely eats breakfast and skips dinners to keep fit. Here's a update from the first video - "I was full of energy ALL day, was super productive, and didn't snack as much as usual. I had a light lunch and a regular dinner but honestly didn't really feel hungry all day - this is likely due to the fact that this breakfast was about 600 calories. The stomach queasiness (from the olive oil) peaked around 2 hours later and then subsided."
