no. blackpink is the epitome of pure girlcrush. literally the term, fashion and more was popularized because of them in kpop 3rd gen.

The first MV soun like a typical jpop song that would be used for some OST. That popular mixer of ballad and soft rock with a Japanese twist. There's not many kpop groups that do that Jpop sound. You might can find some groups doing it for their Jpop original tracks tho. Second song is just a typical sounding group ballad. As far as kpop is concern, many groups do ballads. But it's usually as a bside.

pepe - visually more dark undertones then weeekly and stayc. fits, lyrically and choreo more mature then the current "highteen" concept. like - is closer to highteen then pepe. but i still wouldn't consider it as highteen. it's more cute and bubbly like apink u you or nonono.

yep i agree. also i realize i was probably mixing up last year popular concept of "teen crush" which is heavily influenced by itzy. basically teencrush transitioned into highteen highteen is a softer and cuter version of teencrush. aestically and musically imo.

i don't really consider the above clc songs posted by abra as "highteen"...it's more cute and bubbly. also "highteen" sound wise is more choppy and all over the place in my opinion. literally "high" on life or something lol... yea they have more "cute" then itzy.

i agree visually itzy lean more girlcrush. however that's why i mentioned their sound in my earlier post. i feel they were part of the transition at least. and groups like weeekly and etc. solidified the full "highteen" aesthesis and sound.

nah wooah last year is another good example of highteen. the word itself been around since last year in kpop industry. (e.g. while reacting to one of their idmu mv wooah members referred to it as highteen) cignature is more girl crush. @blossoms hmmm tbh i don't even know what to categorize wooah debut lol. it's not really girl crush either

maybe itzy? at least sound-wise sort of. also i think it's around their comeback when the kpop industry started referring to music concepts as "highteen" edit: from there others girl groups like weeekly and other "teen" girl groups expanded the concept and aesthetics to what is now.
