There's no actual data that prove the majority of the fandom is driven by the bad apples. From my observation  it's usually non-fans or those who have had run ins with the problematic part of the fandom who tend to focus only on and/or claim the majority of the fandom is problematic. While there are some people who say the majority of the fandom is actually quite level headed and matured due to the fact so many positive things have been organized and achieved due to the fandom. Everyone have different perspectives.

Personally I don't have a issue with Corden's team backtracking the '"teenage girl" part. They too obviously see their mistake. And honestly my guess is most people who are still not offended by the "teenage girl" stereotype are either GG stans or men. Because...(?) yikes.

I'll give another scenario of an ugly stereotype. The claim that only old perverted men like jpop girl groups or cute concepts in kpop. When we all know that's not always the case.

Literally any thread about Bts, there are always non-fans who run in talking about the problematic portion of fandom. 

Ok yes everyone knows there are some bad apples in the fandom. (I mean, what fandom doesn't have them? DHFKGLLSDJL) But can we sometimes stick to the topic at hand, instead of derailing on and on about unrelated bad apples or past incidents. In this case, many with in the fandom rightfully expressed their distaste for the stereotypy/joke. And Corden's team recognized their mistake and took the video down. Simple. Let's move on~

Ironically, fans in their 20s make up a huge part of BTS fandom's demographics too. Some of these fans started off as teens but have grown with the group over the years. Which isn't a surprise, I mean for kpop standards, BTS is a senior group. Many non-fans tend to forget this obvious fact. 

Yea there's nothing problematic about older fans kindly letting it be known they're not teenagers. And for the purpose of the social media audience/engagement the entertainment industry desperately crave, it's strategic and wise that Corden's team took the video down. 

Let's be real the "teenage" stereotype is partially popular due to guys themselves as a way to degrade popular boy groups...

edit: Anyways, while the joke was tasteless, personally I'm not canceling him tbh. Hopefully moving forward him and his team will be more cautious about using the "teenage girl" stereotype.
