  2. Analysis of Wu Yi Fan’s basketball skills Talked with a male friend who was displeased at sports weibo accounts for posting about Fanfan these two days, as he thought that it was just exaggerated for show. Thus I showed him this set of photos, and he was really shocked! He trained professionally in high school, pointed out to me some details which I had never noticed before, and while praising Fanfan he also said that although his foundation was very good his skills had gotten a little rusty, if he continued playing professionally he would have been really awesome. [GIF 1] The way WYF passes the ball over from his left to right hand. I first thought that WYF was right-handed, and I never thought that he would be that skilled with his left hand too. To switch the hand controlling the ball other in mid-air requires a high level of balance and smooth coordination, and a lot of waist strength and control. [GIF 2] When WYF receives the ball, both his feet are in a steady position, which leaves his hands free to manoeuvre the ball, and once he receives the ball he immediately turns his body around nimbly, the whole movement is extremely quick, not only does this require a fast reaction, but the main point is that he can have such a response as a result of much practice, so much so that his body reacts faster than his mind thinks. What goes easily unnoticed is that when he is in possession of the ball, he does a ball fake (a sudden movement by the player with the ball intended to cause the defender to move in one direction, allowing the passer to pass in another direction) so that the opponent moves in that direction to block him, but he unexpectedly passes the ball over to a teammate when there was an opening as he jumped. While passing the ball then, it required lots of vertical jump power and core muscle strength, and it is not something all basketballers can accomplish. [GIF 5] Back-throw. This is another important point. This movement not only requires core strength but also requires use of the back muscles and power. Never expected that his upper body is so skinny and yet still is quite powerful, and has extremely good “court senseâ€. His response on the court is extremely fast, and he always makes the most optimal choices (for the team’s benefit) which can take the opponent by surprise. [GIF 7] It seems that he got hold of a rebound ball, and he had to attack again from the outside of the line. He was able to find the shortest route speedily with one foot going over the line, which adheres to the rules and saves time, before the opponents re-organize their defence he speeds up with the ball, dribbling it with his left arm and passing it to his right to score beautifully. He’s indeed a seasoned player. [GIF 9] Finally, his calm countenance while single-handedly maintaining possession of the ball and scoring is extremely outstanding. He throws the ball in a timely and planned manner. Throwing the ball at the correct time after keeping it for a while is effective, the second time he jumped, he scores the rebound basket. Simply put, jumping calmly repeatedly shows he’s not bad, he has good understanding and foresight. cr: Elska9 / translation: @wu_yi_fan

Yifan stans Fighting!
  7. 150318 Wu Yi Fan - SEWEEKLY 2015 Top 10 Most Promising Male Idols Wu Yi Fan is ranked #2! 2014 is the year which you came back to China to develop your career, how would you evaluate your development in the past year? 2014 is the year of the horse (like Wu Yi Fan’s birth year 1990), and to me this year is a brand new beginning. Step by step, not forgetting my original intentions, repaying all those who have stayed by my side and supported me. Compared to other mainland China artistes who debuted in China, you don’t have that many works, and most people don’t know you that well, next up do you plan to shoot more productions that will increase your popularity? In my opinion, productions cannot be categorised, cannot be differentiated into “good†or “badâ€, there are only suitable and unsuitable. So as long as it suits me or is for a charitable cause, I am willing to try and learn. For the sake of gaining more experience and accumulating extra “school credits†(learning new things), I will warmly welcome every “testâ€. Most people feel that newcomers in the entertainment industry have popularity but not skill, especially when it comes to acting. How would you reply to such opinions? These doubtful opinions, to me, are rare opportunities to spur myself on and encourage myself, and such comments at times may even be more effective than praise, and can motivate people even more. I feel that having the skill and being an idol are not in conflict with each other, like being gifted naturally and working hard. I am willing to work harder to improve my skills and enable everyone to experience my skill and sincerity through my works. When faced with people who question my abilities, I think what’s more important is that I am sure of myself, if there is something that we strongly feel is right, then we should be even more determined to do it. Because of your high popularity and extremely good looks, in various areas you are closely watched upon, is this something which restricts or pressures you? First of all I would really like to thank everyone for the recognition, but I still hope to depend on my skill to represent and prove myself. It also means that currently I’m not fully satisfied with my present state, in my future works I would like to show a Wu Yi Fan with many different sides to everyone. 《Somewhere Only We Know》is your first film, are you satisfied with this film’s box office and reviews? The first time is always the most memorable, for box office and reviews my greatest feelings are of thankfulness, and I’m thankful to Director Xu for giving me this opportunity, thankful towards those in the industry and viewers who have given me advice. Be it criticism or encouragement, to me these are all good, they all motivate me. You’ve worked with Xu Jinglei, Guan Hu, Feng Xiaogang and other famous directors, your starting point is so high, does this pressure you with regards to your future development? WHat are your views on this? Do you have confidence in your next film《Fading Wave》(Lao Pao Er)? They are three directors which I really like and look up to, and I have watched many of their films before. I feel that even though being able to work with so many well known directors is pressurising, it is even more motivating. When it comes to acting I am a newcomer, whereas these directors have achieved very high box office and recognition in the industry. I really wish to thank them for trusting me and choosing me. Because this is like going to a restaurant and ordering a new dish which I have never tried, I would only know if it is good after consuming it. But they were willing to give me the time and opportunity, and took really good care of me too, which touched me deeply the most. They told me every detail of the guidelines and what was required, and every time when I acted in scenes with seniors, I saw how they got into character and the character’s emotions, and it was something which I could learn from so that I could improve myself. Now the attitude I have is “For myself not to have any regrets, and not to let the director’s hopes downâ€, to do my best, for the viewers who gave us 1~2 hours of their time by sitting in front of the silver screen and for the staff who work so hard behind the scenes. @wu_yi_fan
