I feel like people think Utada has a great voice because they like her musical abilities and just want to include her. I remember someone saying that Utada brought an urban, American voice to Japanese music, and I called bullshit on that. Nothing about her voice is really urban or American, and to be blunt, there are other Japanese singers who came out before her who sounded blacker.

We were actually talking about her on the Japanese side the other day. It's funny that there are people on that side who remember her peak when nobody on the Korean side does. But continuity and all that... A part of me does wish that the international Korean music fandom wasn't so... ephemeral.

I mean, if you did, you would know that she had the #3 album of the year when the industry was at its peak, so this idea about her songs being more popular if someone else sung them is really odd (I mean if we were going off of voices, where are MISIA and Ayaka Hirahara currently?). The only women from her debut era that are still relevant are Namie, Utada, and aiko, so... In the end it's about musicianship, which is something you'll never realize, because you live for idols and public popularity (which you know nothing about due to the fact that you weirdly gauge your idea of public popularity based off of like the 5 Japanese exchange students you know). I told you years ago that AKB was a fandom-driven act and now you know that I was right all along. So I don't want to be questioned in a way where you think you have something over me, because you don't. But do you ever think of why so many people come to Ringo for songs, whether it be Johnny's, TV stations, or product companies? It's the musicianship. Do people go to Keyakizaka46 for the same thing? No, and they never will. Why? Because there is no musicality there.
