Wow, I've been away from kpop and didn't realise they were having a comeback. Looking forward to it.

Which male idols do you think are gay?
Miss.Miss replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
I agree, and also it's not like he did the whole drama on his own. I think it also depends on how good the team he was working with was, what kind of support he got and how well they were able to incorporate the things he could already do well naturally into his character as well as how the writer, director, etc,,, were able to communicate what they wanted from him regarding that character. It's just a really different environment. -

Which male idols do you think are gay?
Miss.Miss replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
I agree and I guess that's something that has made me start to dislike it. The idea that homosexuality is just some entertaining game or fiction for some or that it's something to be laughed at and mocked really seems to be promoted and I hate it. Imagine how those idols that might be gay or bi feel in those situations. -

I know I barely post on here but I do follow this thread regularly and I find it interesting. Anyway since the subject of fanservice came up I hope you don’t mind me chiming in to give some of my opinions. To be honest I’ve sort of grown to...I wouldn’t say dislike it but I have become more hesitant about it and its possible impact on how people view homosexuality. I mean I do enjoy the interactions and I do like that it can sort of provide a safe environment for idols to express intimacy and affection to each other (whether romantic or not) but on the other hand I feel like it perpetuates some views I really don’t agree with. I don’t know if I’m making any sense (I probably sound crazy now) but I feel like it promotes that view that homosexual relationships only exists in imagined worlds and fantasies and you can act it out all you want, you can read and write all kinds of fiction but never suggest it’s real because then that’s crossing the line. It’s this idea that if a guy holds a girl’s hand that holds more meaning than If a guy kisses another guy. It’s this notion that no romantic relationship can exist between two guys (or two girls even) and that anyone who thinks it might is delusional, or corrupted, or whatever. I don’t know if I’m thinking too much into it but it really doesn't seem like a positive image to me and it has started to bother me. It’s sort of a dilemma for me because I don’t think it’s completely negative in that fanservice can play its role in increasing visibility and getting people to maybe start talking about the issues and perhaps increasing acceptance in fiction can later help in increasing acceptance in reality but at the moment it seems like the idea of homosexuality is being pushed as this funny and entertaining thing that only crazy people believe in. /end rant. -

Official Plastic Surgery Thread
Miss.Miss replied to JessicaRabbit's topic in Celebrity Photos & Videos
How common is plastic surgery among male idols compared to female idols? What's the most common surgery procedure for guys? The one I know who has admitted it is Kwanghee? I can't tell about everything he had done though but it's a surprising change. Anyway are there any other male idols who have admitted to having had surgery?- 26,504 replies

Wow that does sound really scary, yet it seems to be one of the surgeries a lot of people go for. I'd be too terrified.- 26,504 replies

OMG! that one with the curled corners is a bit disturbing I hope that's not real. Wow I didn't know there was surgery for a permanent smile. It seems people are doing this mainly for their work? Such unrealistic demands for people's looks is just sad.- 26,504 replies

Miss.Miss replied to JessicaRabbit's topic in Celebrity Photos & Videos
Yea it's sad when family members feel the need to pressure other into surgery. I suppose the idea that people must fit into a certain beauty standard to be worthy gets so ingrained in some people's minds that they feel like they are doing something right. I'm glad your friend felt confident enough about her looks not to give into pressure. So double eyelid surgery must be the most common? I remember watching this a while ago and from 5:17 onwards they talk about it and how common it is among students. there's the full video on here http://www.koreanhighschool.com/. They talk more about beauty standards and surgery and how Korea students feel about it etc...- 26,504 replies

Miss.Miss replied to JessicaRabbit's topic in Celebrity Photos & Videos
I agree, I think as long as the person wants to do it, is well informed and it's done safely then I don't see what's wrong. The only time I think it's a problem is when people feel pressured into it or when there are other underlying issues that are ignored. Btw is there a minimum age for PS in korea? How do people feel about people in high school getting plastic surgery? Or parents encouraging their kids to have it and offering it as birthday gifts and such? From what I hear a lot of people feel pressured in getting plastic surgery, so they can improve their chances of getting a job. So if even the average Korean feels that pressure, it must be 10 times worse for idols who are in the public all the time and have to hear people judging them on their looks continuously.- 26,504 replies

Anyway what do people think of shows like Let Beauty? I haven't really watched the episodes but I remember reading about it on NB and while some of them it seemed to be handled well others left me a bit uncomfortable. Like the wife who was having surgery because her husband was a douche- 26,504 replies

Well if people could refrain from bashing since this isn't the bashing thread then I don't see how a discussion can't happen. I don't mind a discussion on general ps issues.- 26,504 replies

Miss.Miss replied to JessicaRabbit's topic in Celebrity Photos & Videos
It would be nice if there could be an actual discussion on PS considering how prevalent it is in Korea/kpop but honestly I don't know how that can happen since any mention of an idol having surgery could come off as bashing seeing as it's mostly viewed in a negative light. You will most likely get people talking about who they think has had surgery and people defending the claims.- 26,504 replies
