  1. There is no mention of 'debt' or anything similar from his comment. What he actually said was SJ's profits probably be higher than EXO. 'Decent salary' can mean anything depending on the context and according to the link- Leeteuk's definition of 'decent' means A LOT. As SJ have been touring the world for over 5-6 years with a v. strong fan base in KR & CN & JP so it makes sense that EXO needs another 2-3 years to match up SJ's profits. If I could I would have upvoted you 10 times
  2. Delulu weekend is back! Do you have the origial source of the comment you referenced? I don't know what he meant as 'debt' and when the comment was made. SM doesn't charge trainging and production costs which prob are the biggest chunks of costs considering that they have one of the most expensive and top quality production and trainers in the world went into producing idols- see the links. http://entertain.naver.com/read?oid=009&aid=0002770949 http://www.instiz.net/pt/2770321 Across Asia there are only few entertainment agencies who take such risk & investment to their trainees who's profitability is yet to be proven.
  3. SM, YG and JYP don't charge training & other financial costs when into their idol pre-debut. They start to pay them from their idols' first activity after debut. Thought it is a well-known fact, but there is a long way to educate many ifans who believe anything on the internet- how come each exo member earned about 50 million USD for about 10 months in 2013 if SM took out the costs went into them from profit? Edited: Sorry for a double post.....
  4. I think you'd better read my previous posts again as I already mentioned that having a relationship around that age 16-18 in SK often dont involve sex at all regardless of your counterpart's age. So no need to project the state's happening when I clarified what I defined as going out at that age meant. I am sorry hear that your grandma had a rather unfortunate experience about getting married without her consent (I presume from reading your post). But then again, I already noted that I see a huge difference between 16+ and below so no point of talking 13 years in this context. Rather our difference is that I see 16 years old capable of making decisions for their personal matter in normal circumstances and you and others see as 18 or 20 whatsoever. I appreciate that you and some other's experience regardless direct or indirect is also factored in your view and reaction as I see that countries experience a huge problem with under-age prostitution and teenage pregnacy are likely to be more sensitive about anything related to the topic, hence that rather extreme and rude reaction comes from. I can only use the same logic you used as there's only 3 years difference between 16 and 19; as you mentioned that some 16-17 year olds are maturer than some 19 year olds. As I said previously that no need to bring the UK's measures to SK when I already mentioned several times about having a relationship or dating around 16-18 in SK often don't involve sex at all. There are different contexts around '16 year old dating' in yours and mine as we don't experience a social issue like pre-maturing kids or teenagers in the UK ( we do of course have issue but nothing compared to the uk or other western countries) and often it means you meet up for a dinner or movie involves nothing much than holding hads or good-night kiss more often older ones encourage and help you with your studies. For example, one of my friends who dated 21 years when she was 17, he was a great boyfriend, can offer her advice on preparing for uni exam, troubles with teachers and parents sometimes and etc. Of course they had a same interest in composing music and most of their time was about discussing about music and going to concerts and etc. How that is gross and he is taking advantage of her? Plus, she has friends and family who can easily pick up if something goes wrong which could also happen to any age in dating. I appreciate that you might have come across many misfortunate and extreme cases but that doesn't mean that that is happnening all the time and also do consider different social and cultural environments. You can't judge someone else based on your own definition? That's what I call it as a cultural ignorance, one prime example ifans attacking Kpop idols for 'colourist' and 'racist' when people joke among a homogeious group of themselves based on their own perception of beauty which established from a time when people even didnt know there were other races exist. Plus, people in SK also often don't approve dating with a age gap if one is younger than 24-5 years but there is a clear difference between condemning it as 'gross' 'disgusting' whatsoever and you aren't fond of it and prefer the younger one would date someone similar age. Sorry I couldn't quote all who responded to my post but I appreciate where you are coming from and also point out a few things you might have not acknowledged while disagreeing to some or all of your argument.
  5. High schooler means 16+ and I don't think your way of distorting my saying to highlight your argument works. 22 years old dating 16 years old isnt illegal stands as a fact to respond to your saying it's illegal in england- don't see the connect between 13 years old stuff? There is a huge difference between high schooler and below in terms of physical and mental maturity and capability to make a sound decision. 6 years difference doesnt seem to me isnt much older and a high schooler dating a uni student wouldnt make me to react as if that's something disgusting or crime. There is always a chance of more mature one to take advantage of relatively immature one in any relationship and not only limited to relationship between highschooler and uni student and not necessarily based on age all the time either. Edit: anyway I need to go to bed and reply later if there is new response to this post.
  6. Agree with about CN's market size and its impact on profit, but I still think being successful in JP market is more beneficial than CN market for movies outside KR as I think JP's market projects more of quality works and often successes in that market also leads to potential opportunities in eu or the state compare to CN.
  7. First of all, I don't think I was dissmisive of your or others who have different opinion to mine just because of cultural difference, but if you felt that way sorry for hurting your feeling. My points were about two things; 1. I felt it's hypocritical when people condemning it as if it's something very sin and unusal especially from westerners as I said that I wonder if you react in the same way towards to similar cases which are a lot common in your own country. I have previously seen so much hypocritical shites from western kpop fans about having a double standard and being judgemental towards Kpop idols. However, I have to admitt that I might have let that experience to generalise you and few others in terms of where you were coming from regards to this issue. 2. About judging 16 years old dating 22 years old: That's you and some other's opinion to say that 's morally wrong not a fact and I don't agree with you as I said previously. I don't know where 13 years old coming from as I said I think ppl in high school and upward can manage their personal matter unless they are incable of making decision due to mental/physical issues. No need to distort my saying as I think there is a big difference between a high schooler and below in terms of their cognitive ability and many others to make a decision for themselves.
  8. I find it almost hypocrite how some people expect a pure and innocent image to Kpop idols which isnt reflective of their own life or surroundings, let alone their own belief even before going to discuss whether 16 years old dating 22 years is right or wrong. I personally think it's down to individual to make a decision unless one in the relationship has some phyisical or mental issues that might impact on their ability to decide and act on their best interest, when we talk about anyone in their high school and upward. I can understand you are particularity sensitive to this issue as its related what you are passionate about (I assume that you do about your job). However, I find it rude when people saying 'gross' or 'disgusting' at a thought involved Kyungsoo- he hasn't done anything illegal in SK and if he has any romantic relationship with her that's their privacy. Unlike england or the state most ppl in SK have their first sex after university and often teenagers's dating is a whole lot different scene. I don't find it gross or sick imagining him and sohyung strolling a park or watching a movie together. Edit: I just want to be clear that I don't ship Kyungsoo with anyone at all.
  9. I don't ship anyone with him and in general, be wary of any serious shippers, but I am curious if they hold the same attitude towards their own celebrities from their country. I understand some people might have different view on it depending on their own culture or religion, but seriously to some ppl I want to ask them then how can they even survive in their own surrounding when they find a lot more extreme cases from media or everyday life so commonly if a thought of 16 years old might have anything remotedly romantic with 22 years old guy makes them feel gross. I find it rude to Kyungsoo when people are saying something insulting like 'gross' to an imagination that involves him just based on their own some kinds of 'fairly idea' that isn't really reflective of themselves either.
  10. I'm really curious why ppl from w.europe or the state react strongly to any romantic suggestions between Kyungsoo & Sohyun. I know some south asian countries are quite conservative so I could imagine someone from islamic culture reacts that way but wouldnt expect that kinds of reaction from a country where having a kid at 15 years old so common that there is even a school programme for it and dating 10 or 20 years older guy is nothing. I personally don't ship him with anyone so it's not because I wish them to date or anything, but reflecting facts that most 16 years olds in england are prob not a virgin and dating a guy in his early 20's or at a uni isnt a big deal at all. To be honest, having your first boyfried or having a sex at 16 is considered as rather late lol. I also heard from friends from the state that things are pretty similar there, too. Then where's all the fuss about and saying 'gross' from? as if they never seen a 16 years old having a romantic relationship with a guy in his early 20's? How do you then deal with your own country's celebrities who are happy to show how sexually active they are at early age and going out with guys who are +10 years older than them? You must feel gross nearly everyday looking at all the entertainment news & gossip? Very interesting.
  11. As long as he is playing with me- more than happy to order any Chinese he wants to have!!! Buljjajang!!!!!!
  12. Haha I am useless at tennis & table tennis all- but alright with pool & foosball! It's so fun to playing against friends for dinner bill lol Btw, LoveLoveLove the red-haired Kyungsoo in high school uniform during Growl!!! Love the pic you posted!!
  13. I also play pool lol and used to play it with my dad and brothers- though it's always dad who got the bill ;)
  14. I can imagine Kyungsoo and his EXO pals playing pool together often and probably have some Chinese (though not sure Chinese food in Korea can also be found in China lol) while playing, too. It's a must to have Jjajangmyun or Tangsyuyuk when playing pool lol and people who lose get a bill.
  15. I checked the original instiz post and there is no original link of the referenced gay community. Not sure if gay community is open to public and has enough traffic & interest in boyband to have a poll on it, tbh. I can even make a post something like and claiming that it's from gay community poll- but then its from instiz so nothing unusal.
  16. Agree with that Chen has done a good amount of meaty activities like you listed, I personally prefer my bias does OST or performance at high-profile shows rather than appearing at some minor tv shows like Roomate or Jungle thingy- dont remember its full title. I don't think its something we can compare with only pure number of activities as they vary in terms of impact, interest and etc. That's one of my wishes for my babe- Want to listen to his chocolate voice at 11pm radio where he can introduce me some decent music he likes and shares interesting bits of life of others who wrote to the programme about and also his perspective on it. I prob prefer a programme targetting 20+ audience..so def not a kisstheradio type. It would be ideal if he can be a radio dj when he is a bit older. It doesn't have to be about +18 or gayman crush, actually its just about people appreciating his talent. Men are less keen on artists from SM and often they overlook EXO as a whole, but Kyungsoo has shown them some good stuff which then make his work even more noticeable as opposed to general view on EXO and prejudice against boybands. From what I've seen on male dominant Kwebsite which generally is cynical to boybands is that people appreciate his acting and good work though they don't necessarily find him physically attractive, it was more about his talent and his down-to-earth personality. Limiting the reasons why guys become his fan to physical attractiveness and gayman crush could mean dismissing his good works and charming personality which actually did trick most of times. I share the feeling of gratitude to them- Kyungsoo has been lucky to work with people who appreciate talent, willing to nurture it. On top of them I want to also mention that its not happening just because of luck, people need to see raw talent first and wanting to support him as they think he's a good guy and people like to work with him.
  17. Don't know if dulgies shit on their colleagues, too
  18. Harsh to whom? Edited: Sorry for the double posts..thought I was multiquoting..
  19. I also came across about that, ppl (well in SK) think highly of Filipino when its about singing and dancing, hence ppl think it's a great place for partying as you guys also know how to throw a good party ;)
  20. Not sure it's a matter of either black or white- any industries where making profit is the most important priority there is still a concept of fairness. Like you said- vocals would get more audio time when recording as visuals are less effective in that channel, while on video channel visuals or dancers can be as effective as vocals on audio channels hence, their screen time increases. France has also its fair share of commercial music/musicians whose music are produced by mass production and managed by agency, too like any other music markets in the world. The principal is still the same to Kpop boybands or girlbands- commercial appeal as priority and decision making is done by management agency/producer or combination of the singer and them. Though I agree that boyband/girlbands are still unique in their making as producer and management agency has massive influence even compared to usual commercial music in the beginging and the artists start to get involved in the work as they develop and grow their talent and work if there is one. Indie means artists are free from any of these and also have no financial or pr support whatsoever so its in a different league from commercial music. The difference I see is from a format of unit like between a solo singer vs band with several members as the latter has internal competiton of who does what and how long etc. even before market competiton. It's not uncommon to see fans who like one member only or more than other members of a group often have dispute/complaints about similar topics in any commercial music. Well EXOL does seem over the top sometimes though but that's common for groups with many teenage fans.
  21. Well don't forget SM is a corporate working for profit- sure that is a good enough reason to focus on the dancers and visuals. Non-fiction documentaries are produced for a different purpose and audience, I guess. Only point I'd raise is that Kyungsoo is THE VISUAL and vocal therefore, more screentime for him! (I demand demand demand, listen SM!)
