  1. Jessica welcoming new days. She's spending time for herself, making her dreams come true Translated by: john @ Onehallyu.com A long time ago, Jessica stood in front of Marie Claire’s cameras for a photoshoot. Unlike before, when she would show up surrounded by a chaotic group of managers and staff, this time, she came to the studio all by herself. It was the day before her birthday, and fans who were close enough with her to just call her ‘Sica’ also showed up with a bundle of cupcakes and drinks for Jessica and the magazine staff. She seems to have gained a bit of weight recently and has been busy preparing a new collection for her own fashion brand, ‘Blanc & Eclare’. This was her first interview after everything that went down, so she seemed more cautious with her answers, but you could tell by her gaze that she was now letting a lot of the past go and chasing a new dream. “There is going to be a denim line this season for Blanc & Eclare. Denim is actually a very difficult field. I thought a lot about the perspective of the ones who will be wearing the product. I had to think about what specific length fits Asians better when designing the skinny denim pants. In Hong Kong and China, you can find Blanc & Eclare products at the Lane Crawford stores. In Korea, we are opening up popup stores, and I think we’ll soon start opening up actual stores in malls.†Jessica has gone through a lot of changes lately. And with these changes, she has been at the end of many harsh words. Rather than spending the time to confirm what was truth and what were misunderstandings, she quietly spent her time expanding her fashion line to new fields, and began to face a world away from the stage. “To be honest, I’m very nervous doing interviews. There are times articles get released of things I didn’t mean, which leads to many misunderstandings. And it’s not like I can explain myself every single time that happens. When I look at the bigger picture, I think it’s better to be more picky with what you clear up than clearing everything up.†“There are times when I feel like I’m receiving all the hate in the world. It would be a lie if I said that it wasn’t hard for me during those times. But I think my skin’s gotten thicker lately. I try a lot to become stronger. I kind of look a bit wicked. I think that’s why people hate me more.†“Everything is fascinating to me. The drawings I sketch come to life as products, and it’s really interesting to see those products in display at stores and then get purchased by people. But some people are under this misconception that I am the only one in charge of this brand. The truth is that to get one product completed, the members who make up my team all have to come together with their ideas. I’m a bit embarrassed and burdened to hold the titles of ‘representative’ and ‘CEO’. There are times when I also feel sorry that because my name, other people’s efforts get ignored.†The biggest strength for Jessica during her hard times has been her family. She recently went on vacation with her sister, mother, and father. It was the first time her entire family was able to go on vacation since her debut. “Things are a lot different now compared to how it was when I was with SNSD. I really enjoyed the time I spent with the other members, but now that I’m by myself, I have a lot more time now. I am planning on going to school to seriously learn more about fashion design, but I haven’t decided on the exact timing for that yet. I’m just actively studying on my own for now. I realized that no matter what I go through, a more comfortable time soon comes. Even if I go through something very difficult, as more time passes, the happier I become.†She’s also gotten a lot more freedom over her decisions. “If I was still a SNSD member, I wouldn’t have been able to do this shoot. Idol groups have to always be happy. They have to be kind, and pure, and bright. But I’m already 27 years old. I can’t forever remain a happy little girl. Someone might think after seeing these pictures, ‘Now that she’s out of SNSD, she’s taking off her clothes.’ But I’m not a little girl anymore. I think it’s okay for me to portray Jessica as a woman. Since I debuted when I was 19 years old, there are times all the restrictions and limitations can get irritating. Now, I can make all my own decisions. It wasn’t so bad deciding to come to this photoshoot all by myself.†Jessica has decided to let go of all of her regrets in the past and all her frustrations of not being able to clear up the public’s misunderstandings about her. She’s instead spending each day to build up and anticipate for the road ahead of her. She wants to formally learn about fashion, and she wants to put out music that captures her voice’s charms. “I have been thinking about myself a lot more lately. In a few years, I’ll be 30, and there are times that makes me anxious. I’m not sure why. But I think now, I have to live life for myself and not for anyone else. And now I’m alone, so my flaws that the other members used to fill up for me, I have to fill them up myself now. I have to be able to approach people I’ve met for the first time, and I have to try to make people feel more comfortable around me. I think when people see me, they think I’m like a wall. It’s hard for me to approach someone first if I’m not close with them. So it’s hard for me when I have to attend events all by myself. I have to be able to approach someone first before they can feel that they can approach me. I’m currently trying to tear that wall down.†Come to think of it, the Jessica we know is an ‘ice princess’. She isn’t lively, she tends to hide away more. She also doesn’t like beating around the bush, she prefers to tell it to you in a way that’s easy to understand. So you can see how people can feel that she’s like a wall, and how people may misunderstand her. She’s overcome a lot of obstacles, and now, she’s focusing on the road ahead, and she’s living the dreams she’s had to push back all this time, and she’s living a joyful life continuously dreaming new dreams.

  5. I think in exchange, SNSD did barely anything for the company other than posing backstage with some hair pieces.
  6. The secret to how a company making 5 billion won a year could afford an endorsement deal with Girls’ Generation who cost 2.1 billion won Translated by john @ www.onehallyu.com The price of a Hallyu star’s ‘body’ is expensive. They can run up to billions of won for modeling gigs on advertisements. It is general knowledge that a company has to at least be a middle-sized company in order to hire a Hallyu star as their advertising model. But even a wig company with yearly sales of around 5 billion won and other small to middle-sized Korean companies are beginning to seek Hallyu stars as their endorsers. How could this be possible? Minister Yoon, Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, discussed this at a meeting of businesses supporting the vitalization of the export industry held on the 15th. - Running guarantees on advertising models A representative from Hair Couture, a company that was initially making wigs in America, Kim Minseok thought last year that in order to enter into the foreign market in areas such as China and Southeast Asia, it would be a good idea to use a Hallyu star as the company’s advertising models. The company went straight to SM Entertainment, the agency solely in charge of Girls’ Generation. SM demanded the company pay 2.1 billion won. This amount of money was over 40% of the wig company’s annual sales from 2013. Kim didn’t give up, and decided to try another direction. That direction was the idea of ‘running guarantee’. Since Kim did not have the funds at the time to afford Girls’ Generation as the company’s models, she would use the profits earned after the group’s endorsement deals to pay for the group. To present this idea to SM Entertainment’s board of directors, Kim used the example of Goobne Chicken, a brand Girls’ Generation was already endorsing at the time. Kim claimed, “Goobne Chicken sells about 100 million chickens in a year. Even Girls’ Generation’s contract with Goobne wasn’t a lump sum payment like it had been and instead, the group was based around receiving 100 won a chicken, Girls’ Generation would have earned over 10 billion won.†SM Entertainment immediately signed a contract with Hair Couture, and assigned Girls’ Generation as the company’s endorsement models. It has been revealed that Girls’ Generation received somewhere between 3% to 5% of Hair Couture's sales. Since then, Hair Couture's sales have increased 60% in the last year, earning around 8 billion won. - Minister of Industry “this is what creates market economy†Kim started up an advertising agency called Star Collab that specializes in deals like this. As their first success story, they linked a small to midsized Vietnam company HNJ with Hallyu group SISTAR. SISTAR advertised the company’s sweatsuit line, and agreed to receiving 3-5% of the total sales. Even if smaller companies are able to score Hallyu stars as advertisers of their products, they are still unable to air television commercials for their products with the stars. That is why Kim thought up SNS and home shopping. Advertising through the celebrities’ SNS does not cost a lot, and because these celebrities are very famous, they can expect the product’s name to travel fast. Once the product’s existence and name is spread through the stars’ SNS, the company will then sell the products through home shopping networks. Home shopping networks also charge by the sales per hour. Representative Kim shared this success story at the meeting and said, “Small businesses can use the overwhelming power that Hallyu stars have to maximize their exports, while entertainment agencies discover a new way to increase their profits.†Upon the end of Kim’s speech, Minister Yoon claimed this was the model for a Creative Economy. – Requested by Jadakiss13 tl;dr: SM wanted more than 40% of Hair Couture's total sales revenue up front for Girls' Generation to sign as endorsers for their hair products. Hair Couture couldn't pay it, so they instead pushed for a contract where the girl group would earn a certain percentage of earnings, rather than a huge lump sum. This also meant no official television spots or professional photoshoots, but more advertising through SNS.
  7. CL does not make the final cut on TIME’s “Most Influential 100 People†Translated by john @ www.onehallyu.com 1. [+4631,-98] This is honestly an obvious choice.. 2. [+3332,-72] Please stop media-playing with things like this 3. [+2610,-119] ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ As expected 4. [+2558,-97] She doesn’t even have influence on our nation;; 5. [+2027,-113] ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 6. [+608,-14] She should first try being one of the top 100 most influential people in Korea 7. [+542,-16] Of course she’d get eliminated. It’d be complete nonsense for TIME if she made it 8. [+533,-26] They’re going to get rid of their voting because of Korean netizens 9. [+522,-23] So embarrassing.. How many times did people vote that she got #2 ㅋㅋ And yet she still got eliminated ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ They knew that it was just Koreaboos swarming the polls ㅋㅋ 10. [+403,-15] Exactly what influence does she have
  8. ‘8 members’ SNSD, ‘Catch Me If You Can’ teaser revealed Translated by: John @ www.onehallyu.com 1. [+1999,-231] They first came out with a lovely image, but now that they’re older, they are coming out as strong unnies 2. [+2151,-663] This is something I feel every time I see Sunny but ㅋㅋㅋ I guess anyone can become a celebrity 3. [+1321,-61] This is a Japanese comeback song but the article makes it sound like a Korean one ;;;; There’s no Korean promotions. It’s just a Korean version of a Japanese song 4. [+1413,-316] Whenever SNSD comes out with a song where they try to act tough, I cringe. Am I the only one? 5. [+773,-94] This is a Japanese comeback single. Please work hard and make a fool out of the anti-Koreans there 6. [+643,-75] I wish SM would release full albums and repackages with SNSD and f(x) like they do for the boy groups 7. [+427,-54] It looks like they’re not doing a separate Korean album or promotions. Japan’s nice but please comeback in Korea too 8. [+625,-290] I like this concept ㅋㅋㅋ 9. [+397,-85] Why are people saying that SNSD is old now ㅋㅋ They’re all 25-27 years old, and it’s just barely been 9 years since their debut. There’s a lot of idols over the age of 30 10. [+465,-231] I think this might do better than ‘Hoot’?? They’re at the peak of their beauty now too

Is it okay if I expect that? It’s just that it seems like her pretty face is going to waste ã…‹ No more of her wearing baggy pants that look like she pooped in them and her dancing like a robot 8. [+128,-27] She was the top female solo artist. ‘No. 1’ is a masterpiece 9. [+97,-19] I’m a BoA fan and I’m really looking forward to her new album *-* 10. [+95,-24] Crazy….. finally!!!! The real artist is finally here!!!!!!! – BoA, finally coming back?… surprise photo of recording studio 1. [+286,-14] You’re still my number 1~ 2. [+174,-19] I miss you~~~~ 3. I like that BoA doesn’t take off her clothes for a sexy concept 8. [+43,-5] When I was a kid, I used to sing ‘Valenti’ and was a fan of hers but now I’m 24..ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ I’m looking forward to her 15th year anniversary album this year 9. 11. Equal won for everyone? But..we're not a team this is a competition. ;)
  12. Cheetah vs Jessi ‘Unpretty’ tears over winner… washing out the sorrow of the underground rapper Translated by john @ onehallyu.com 1. [+10859,-92] I realized again today, Mnet’s ability to drag time out is so despicable 2. [+6553,-157] Cheetah is so cool 3. [+6029,-114] Congrats to Cheetah. Jessi did really well too. All the rappers worked hard 4. [+5065,-124] All 9 rappers worked hard. It was really touching. Congrats to Cheetah! 5. [+4351,-119] Cheetah is good ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ 6. [+1439,-49] The thing that I don’t understand at all is all the producers put a lot of energy and focus towards all 6 of the tracks. Why are they making it seem like the winner of the 6th track and the 6th track only is the main character of this show? 7. [+1367,-101] Good ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ It’s all really nice but why did they add MC Mong to this ã…¡ã…¡ã…‹ã…‹ 8. [+1266,-27] Mnet’s editing;;; They edited to make Jessi look like she didn’t like Kisum’s performance. They need to get rid of their malicious editing 9. [+1110,-51] As expected, Cheetah!!! You could tell the difference class between her and the others in the first cypher. There’s probably almost no one who opposes Cheetah winning. She kept on surviving. Cheetah was really the best. She really deserved it 10. [+1097,-41] Jessi in that white t-shirt and jeans looked really good – Unique Cheetah vs as good as they say Jessi 1. [+2322,-55] Thank goodness it was Jessi and Cheetah ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ 2. [+2117,-30] Congrats to Cheetah. Jessi did really well too. All the rappers, they worked so hard!! 3. [+1582,-22] Both Cheetah and Jessi did well 4. [+1172,-28] Cheetah is really amazing. That’s all I have to say, she’s so cool 5. [+1142,-34] I love you Cheetah unnie ã…œã…œã… ã… ã… â™¥â™¥â™¥ 6. [+211,-28] I can see why Jessi has so many fans. She’s honest and isn’t fake. She seems really strong but she has a soft heart. I’ve become a big fan 7. [+185,-10] Jessi was cool til the end. Cheetah was so good. Jjang 8. [+173,-5] Congrats to Cheetah for winning!! Jessi’s heart is softer than it seems 9. [+155,-1] All 9 rappers.. they all seem close with one another.. Mnet’s malicious editing is the problem 10. [+156,-15] These two saved Unpretty Rapstar.. the others all need to practice more – ‘Final battle performance’ Cheetah & Jessi & Yuk Jidam, the winner is? 1. [+1127,-34] Cheetah’s rhyme was so good 2. [+1153,-172] I was so freaking moved by Yuk Jidam’s lyrics.. She really is the Mildang girl of hip hop…. She’s already so developed. If she was the other unnies’ age, she would’ve been a rap genius 3. [+822,-32] Cheetah seems like she’s got good character. And she’s so talented. The real hip hop winner~~~~ 4. [+844,-104] Cheetah’s song is so good. The song with Ailee is really good too. I personally like Jessi more, but Cheetah is really amazing. 5. [+721,-25] Wow. Cheetah is so cool 6. [+523,-32] The real winner was MC Mong who made a slight return to television 7. [+247,-27] But why was the last match formatted like this…….. – Kisum, Insooni collab ‘To. Mom’… Cheetah and Jimin bawling 1. [+1634,-55] “I want to be your daughter in my next life too, ever and ever and forever†when she was getting emotional during that part, I started crying ã… 2. [+1408,-47] Like Kisum’s lyrics, I wish my mom was my mom in my next life and in the life after that. I love you mom 3. [+999,-41] Kisum was cool today! It’s just the start for you, so hwaiting! 4. [+797,-38] Wow. The song is so goodã…œ Kisum hwaiting! 5. [+611,-56] So freaking good 6. [+372,-16] It wasn’t like her rapping skills were amazing, but there was something about her performance that I liked.. I didn’t think I’d cry but I did 7. [+355,-56] In terms of skill, Yuk Jidam is better.. but hip-hop is also music.. at the end of the day, it needs to be able to move people’s hearts.. Yuk Jidam is the better rapper but in terms of lyrics or matching with the audience, Kisum is the winner – ‘Unpretty’ Yuk Jidam “I avoided doing the show first because I was scared of the hate†1. [+571,-74] The song featuring Baek Yerin was really daebak ã… ã… ã… ã… ã… 15&’s voices are so jjang 2. [+590,-145] I really got goosebumps watching her performance. The lyrics were good, and her expression was good too. She fit well with the featuring too. Daebak 3. [+444,-95] I was so moved by Kisum’s performance ã… ã… ã… I was about to cry. I love you mom ã… ã… ã… ã… 4. [+471,-136] Yuk Jidam has gotten really talented. Hwaiting!!! 5. [+389,-120] I wet my pants…. – ‘Unpretty Rapstar’ Jimin “There were a lot of preconceptions because I was an idol but now I’m acknowledged†1. [+613,-205] She defended herself well. I hope she continues working hard 2. [+662,-261] Jimin worked so hard!! Hwaiting!! 3. [+533,-218] Jimin did really well. I saw her in a different way 4. [+481,-188] There were a lot of troubles, but Jimin!!! I will always support you. I love you~~~~~ Everyone on Unpretty Rapstar did well 5. [+512,-320] I like Jimin’s rap style
  13. Different from what you see. As expected, Krystal Translated by john @ www.onehallyu.com – It’s been a few months since ‘My Lovely Girl’ ended. How’ve you been spending your time? I don’t have album promotions right now, so I have been traveling. I also have photoshoots here and there like today. This photoshoot started from your idea. It started with a photo of Kate Moss from the mid-1990s, where she gave off a rebellious feel as a grunge girl. This picture seems like it was from even before you were born. Did you want to try out this 1990s style? Yes. I remember for the most part everything from the 2000s, but I don’t remember anything from the 1990s in which I was born. So I always end up searching for that decade’s music, look, movies, furniture, and so on. I also have a lot of interest in the 1920s through 1980s. I’m only interested in styles from the past, so it’s becoming a problem. I’m surprised to hear you be able to explain your feelings about these fashion pictures so clearly. It makes me wonder ‘what kind of childhood did she have that she’s able to feel that way?’ First of all, I love art. I have a lot of friends who are majoring in art, and a lot of friends I have made recently are affiliated with art, so I think I naturally get influenced by them. When I was young, my mother used to show us classic movies. It’s clear you have a taste for photography too. Is there a specific photographer you would like to work with? Petra Collins. She shoots for the digital, British Dazed too. She shoots girls a lot, and she brings out that hidden rebellious side of them so naturally. There’s always a surprise twist to all of her photos. She has some photos that are extreme, but I think it’d be fun to work with her and compromise and match with her. People say that when they think of Krystal, ‘fashionista’ is the first thing to come to mind. Our Editor has always thought of Krystal as an idol who listens to good music. You also like older artists who were from before you were born. It’s rare to find an idol who listens to such a variety of genres. If you could introduce to the readers your favorite artists and their best tracks, what would they be? My friend recently recommended me Ryuichi Sakamoto’s Casa so I have been listening to that. I think I’ve really been listening to it every single night. It’s an album with remakes of Antonio Carlos Jobim’s songs. Every single track on the album is good, but my favorites are track #1, 3, and 11. The album also includes a bonus track that Jobim hadn’t released before. I also love Patsy’s “Aiiiâ€, Esperanza Spalding’s “I Know You Knowâ€, a family band that promoted in the 1980s DeBarge’s “I Like Itâ€, Delegation’s “Oh Honeyâ€, and The Weeknd’s “Coming Downâ€. I’m suddenly really curious. Do you have a favorite f(x) song? The song “Shadow†from the album Pink Tape. I heard it a very long time ago when it was still a demo. As soon as I heard it, I thought it was completely my style. When it came time to prepare the album, the A&R person somehow knew I liked it and told me, “Soojung, you’re going to record that song you liked ‘Shadow’ in a couple daysâ€. I remember being really excited. I hope I can again meet a song that makes me feel that excited the first time I hear it. What is the biggest misconception that people have of you? Are you the type to worry about what others think? My first impression on people is that I’m cold, so people think that I’m like that. To be honest, I didn’t even know that I looked like I was a cold person. I have a job where it’s hard not to think at all of what people’s perception of me is, so I set up a standard that works. Do you ever want to be like somebody else? I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to be like something else. That’s not me saying that I’m perfect. It’s not like because I want to be more like someone else that I can become more like that person, so I avoid thinking those things altogether. Is there a person from the past you would like to meet? Marie Antoinette. There’s no particular reason, she’s just a person I’d like to meet once. I think it might be because I saw Coppola’s Marie Antoinette. Since we’re talking about movies, if you could pick a director and an actor to work alongside, who would you choose? I like the directors Sofia Coppola, Stanley Kubrick, Park Chanwook, and Xavier Dolan. They’re all directors that melt their worlds into their films, so I would like to meet each of them. It doesn’t matter what genre. You’ve visited a lot of cities since wrapping up your drama. Is there a particular place that left a big impression? Venice, Italy left the biggest impression. I really felt like I was in a completely different world. It was so unrealistically beautiful that it almost made me feel uncomfortable. For some reason, it made me feel tense and like I was floating. My favorite memory is when I saw a small opera show there. I want to recommend that to everyone. It’s in a small house, and you move from room to room. Being able to listen so closely to the instruments and voices makes it fresh and it will give you goosebumps. If you could turn back time and go back to your elementary school days, would you have made the same choices you did up to now? I know this is overasked, but if you weren’t a singer or actress, what would you be doing now? If you told me right now to go back in time to ten years ago, I don’t think I would make the same decisions. I would probably be attending an art school right now. I enjoy architecture, interior design, art, design, and photography, so I would have majored in one of those. Fans are curious what kind of person Krystal wants to become. Do you think you’ll still be acting or singing when you’re 40? I don’t know. I’m the type of person that goes with the flow, one thing at a time, so I don’t know. I myself am curious what I’m going to be doing 10, 20 years from now. To end, what do you look for in a boyfriend? Do you look for modern fashion sense, a sense of humor, well-educated, music taste, being thoughtful, well-mannered, a cool personality, professional, etc. I think it’s important for him to match my ‘boom clap’. Not only someone who jokes around, but someone who laughs at the same points of those jokes as me. All those virtues you listed would be nice too. When I look at someone, I tend to observe whether or not they respect others. I have seen a lot of people disrespecting others based on their age or social position. People who judge everyone always makes everyone else uncomfortable. –
  14. ‘Immortal Song’ Hyoyeon “Kangta, Lee Jihoon, I wish they danced a bit†Translated by john @ onehallyu.com – 1. [+1484,-108] I thought Hyoyeon couldn’t hit high notes, but I was startled by how stable she hit her notes.. Her dancing was cool too. As expected, SNSD.. 2. [+1302,-102] Kim Hyoyeon did really well;; She even hit a high note. Daebak. Of course, her dancing needs no words. Thumbs up! 3. [+1037,-118] Hyoyeon is pretty!!! 4. [+795,-64] Hyoyeon, you worked hard! 5. [+221,-22] I thought Hyoyeon was only good at dancing, but watching her today, she sang well too. But her dancing needs no explanation. She’s really the best of the best 6. [+193,-17] It’s so good to see how different these comments about her are from the comments about her on older articles. I am so thankful that even though it’s a bit late, people are recognizing Hyoyeon’s charms. I’ve been a Hyo fan since SNSD came out ㅋ I hope she can last a long time now without getting into any trouble. Her talent would be wasted 7. [+197,-27] As expected, SNSD is the best.. There isn’t a single member who has no talent 8. [+179,-16] I was really surprised when she hit her high note 9. [+183,-20] Wow. I’m seeing Hyoyeon in a different light. She’s full of charms 10. [+172,-11] Hyoyeon needs more parts in Soshi songs. She sings well –
  15. ‘Hello, Counselor’ 70kg girl “don’t think about dieting… why do you judge me based on my body†expresses conviction Translated by john @ www.onehallyu.com Summary: On the latest episode of ‘Hello, Counselor’, a girl who is 160cm tall and weighs 70kg came on the show to express her stress over her mother telling her to lose weight everyday. The girl said, “I like the way I look. I’m content with it. I like all of me. I never feel pressured by myself to lose weight. Others say losing weight is the right thing to do, but I don’t understand why that is pretty. I have other positive traits, so why is it that people are always judged based on their body?†She continued, “Up to this day, the only thing I’ve heard from my mom is ‘fat’. First, whenever she looks at me, she lets out a sigh and asks me, ‘Eating again?’ and says, ‘Do you want to live with that stomach?’ I’ve never even heard her tell me to study. My mom doesn’t care about how I live, she only cares about my body.†(160cm is about 5'3", and 70kg is about 154 pounds.) – 1. [+1824,-108] I’m envious of that girl and her high self-confidence. I want to become a person who loves myself only and doesn’t feel judged by other people’s eyes. 2. [+909,-344] Loving yourself for you is good but I think listening to others carefully is also good. When you’re young, you’re beautiful no matter how you look but once a little bit of time passes, you won’t be able to lose weight even if you try and it will become a problem for your health 3. [+538,-23] She spent 4 years getting a scholarship and getting into a good school, but because she didn’t lose weight, she was seen as someone who didn’t take care of herself. That’s sad. I don’t know if the people judging her has studied as much as her, gotten into a good university like her, and taken care of herself that way as much as her. Even if her weight becomes a health issue, this is the road she’s chosen so I’m sure she’ll take care of it on her own. People worry too much 4. [+120,-7] If you’re happy living like that, you can just keep living like that. What’s all the fuss? 5. [+101,-8] It’s not detrimental to her health right now, and she does what she needs to do.. Is there a problem? 6. [+87,-4] If your weight isn’t harmful to your health, dieting is just part of your own belief. We need to respect everyone’s individual decisions to stay skinny, thin, or fat, and I find it unfortunately that when it comes to taking care of yourself, our nation thinks that only means taking care of your body and exercising. It should also include reading books and gaining knowledge. If your empty-headed and yet you spend a lot of time focusing on your body and working on your abs and getting surgery to improve your appearance, that’s considered taking care of yourself. And yet, if you gain recognition in your career or professional field and work extremely hard to gain acknowledgement, but you have a bit of fat or if your looks are average, you’re seen as someone who doesn’t take care of themselves. It’s not just your looks or just your career, but taking care of yourself means improving everything about yourself. More than anything, I think if you’re living a life in which you love yourself, you’re living a good life 7. [+80,-5] I watched the show and it’s not that she can’t lose weight. She says if she sets her mind to it, she can lose it, but she has high confidence so I don’t think she needs to lose weight. People just care too much about others
  16. ‘Final round boss in girl group skin exposure’ Stellar has changed Translated by john @ www.onehallyu.com 1. [+763,-122] Upvote this if you just want to sleep one more hour in your warm blankets^0^ 2. [+617,-11] Their last concept was way too explicit 3. [+596,-16] ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ Stellar ended up not having any popularity so they completely changed their concept 4. [+573,-14] Their last song was ‘Marionette’ right? It was labeled sex appeal but they revealed everything ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ But they still couldn’t succeedã… Please find your own individual charms. Stop trying to do everything sexy 5. [+343,-8] Ah.. I see 6. [+60,-2] Inter-Stellar is more famous than them 7. [+41,-5] Please stop taking off clothes. Everyone is annoyed by it 8. [+36,-1] ‘Marionette’ was honestly…. hm… to much 9. [+38,-3] Stellar really took off everything.. They came out wearing clothes you could only see in porn.. ã„·ã„· But other artists got all the hate.. It was Stellar who truly took off everything, and the other artists still wore clothes but just did raunchy gestures.. But Stellar was the one who truly took off everything and yet they quietly got forgotten about 10. [+36,-2] Good job changing the concept. Don’t even try something like that previous concept –

Hwaiting!!!♥♥ I like them so muchㅋ I like them more since they always come out with good albums and songs♥♥ And they’re so pretty and cute. Hope they continue being successful – Yuk Jidam, beautiful V selca ‘innocent’ 1. [+1971,-35] This is too much..ㅋㅋㅋ If there wasn’t the title, I really wouldn’t know who she was 2. [+1922,-37] Is she playing mildang with Photoshop? “I’m hiphop’s Mildang girl†(T/N: ‘Mildang’ means ‘to tease’ or play hard to get. This is her famous line from when she was on Show Me the Money.) 3. [+1670,-62] I wish people with bad pasts wouldn’t come on TV. It hurts the victims. She needs to take the time to reflect 4. [+1328,-32] Isn’t she that girl that tortured the other kids.. She’s trying to clean up her image. I thought she got a bunch of hate and just disappeared 5. [+899,-38] Did she always look like that? 6. [+756,-14] She’s trying to completely change her image to an innocent girl ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 7. [+619,-13] It must feel like a nightmare for the students that Yuk Jidam messed with to see her TV… I get goosebumps every time I see her 8. [+526,-6] A selca liar who plays Mildang with Photoshop 9. [+360,-4] Too much Photoshop ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 10. [+339,-3] Too much. This is why you can’t trust pictures of girls – ‘SNSD’ Tiffany, dizzying S line… ‘forget the little girl’ 1. [+1092,-117] What kind of watch commercial looks like a lingerie commercial~ ㄷㄷㄷ But as a girl, it does look sexy. But the watch doesn’t grab my attention at all. I couldn’t see it 2. [+880,-59] This is supposed to be a commercial for watches but you can’t see watch ㄷㄷㄷㄷㄷㄷㄷ 3. [+773,-270] Tiffany has the look where you just get happy watching her. Her eye smile is the best. She’s pretty and her body is beautiful 4. [+599,-126] Is Tiffany still meeting Nichkhun? 5. [+645,-193] Why are people saying that her face is all you can see because it’s so big? Her face is all you can see because she’s so pretty.. Koreans who stay busy just hating.. 6. [+555,-157] I know Yoona is prettier but guys tend to like girls like Tiffany more. She’s got aegyo, eye smiles, and she looks like she’s got a hint of sexiness 7. [+319,-83] Tiffany is kind and pretty. I like seeing her always smiling 8. [+333,-100] I wish Tiffany would go back to short hair. I think that was her peak 9. [+362,-132] I guess SNSD is starting to take off their clothes too now.. 10. [+249,-69] You can’t help but smile when you see Tiffany! Pretty – Toying around with this 'selca roundup'-style post. Let me know if you like it!
  19. Minah, first solo song ‘dance’ direction “currently practicing choreography†Translated by john @ www.onehallyu.com 1. [+564,-83] Minah has suffered so much being in Girl’s Day up until now. Hyeri and Yura are currently rising up high and people are focusing on them, but the people who know know that Minah got a lot of hate and went through a lot 2. [+544,-121] Doesn’t she sing really well? 3. [+351,-72] Oh, I’m so excited for this. Minah, hope you’re successful! 4. [+315,-69] First solo song in 5 years ã… ã… ã… Looking forward to it ã… ã… 5. 20. Jessi "Unpretty Rapstar is the beginning. I will really show you my music" Translated by john @ www.onehallyu.com “When I first got casted for ‘Unpretty Rapstar’, I felt a bit of pressure. I couldn’t just go on the show without being prepared. I thought about going on ‘Show Me The Money 3’ but I ended up deciding not to. Thinking about it now, maybe I should have gone on it. I was worried a lot before going on ‘Unpretty Rapstar’, but the more I’m on it, the more fun I have." "I’m honestly worried about how I’ll come off. At first, my image came off so strong. Honestly my appearance can sometimes come off as scary. But, in reality, my heart isn’t like that. If you want the show until the end, you can see my true personality. I’m a human too, so although i showed you this forceful personality at first, the more you get to know me, you can see that I’m playful and fun. You’ll see me go through hard times, but also laugh and take care of others. Although I do worry how I will end up being portrayed. I actually now am thankful that I got disqualified for the Zico mission in the first mission. If I had done a track with Zico, I might not have gotten the second track. It’d have been weird if I won too often. Thinking about it now, I think it was right for me. I was so surprised at how well ‘My Type’ did. I thought, ‘How did this do so well?’… But I was so happy. Zico and I know each other very well. I think there will be another opportunity later." "Honestly, it’s not that Lil Cham and I have a bad relationship. I didn’t know anything the first or second episode. These girls had all gathered around, and we didn’t know each other. And yet we had to be in competition mode. And it’s not that Lil Cham didn’t do well, it’s just that I got eliminated so she became a target. And that ‘diss’ was when I was upset and disappointed. I just wanted to show them something. We had to write the lyrics to [the cypher] 30 minutes before shooting, and I was really upset. Lil Cham could have done better, but she was more focused on her face so she seemed weaker. Lil Cham and I don’t have a bad relationship. We contact each other often. I am a main vocal. Rap is #2. I’ve never battled like this before. I have confidence every time we battle, but it hurts me whenever I have to cuss and stuff. When they say I have to battle with another person, I wonder what I can write about them. I can’t go off too strong… I do think during battles, I think about the other person and go softer. And then I get shocked when that other person goes so strong. I do feel sorry every time we have to diss. It’s not that I really hate that other person. It’s just that it’s a rap battle. Those aren’t my true feelings. Honestly, at first, it was hard. And I had a lot of regrets. I was showing my true self, but of course there was editing. But I am thankful that there are people who are showing me love for exactly who I am. It was hard, but I feel like I’m being rewarded now. I want to work harder." "I think of ‘Unpretty Rapstar’ as the beginning. I’ve done music for such a long time now, and yet the general public doesn’t really know about my music yet. So when this is over, I really wanted to show people the music I want to do. I was only able to show you my rapping so far, but I want people to see me as a musician. I’m going to work hard until when people listen to my songs, they say, “It’s Jessi!’ Thank you for showing lots of love, and I will work harder. ‘Unpretty Rapstar’ is not the end for me. Please show me lots of love from now on as well, and I will return with better music. Please anticipate it.†– 1. [+5460,-111] Unpretty Rapstar has been about the rediscovery of Jessi 2. [+4935,-112] This noona doesn’t make personal attacks when she’s doing rap battles, and I guess she had her reasons ㅋㅋㅋ 3. [+3253,-73] Ah~~~ I’m scared of her 4. [+3242,-75] I like people like her who have to work hard and suffer a lot to just get her name out there and who are thankful for their fans, rather than stars who in just one moment turns into a star and doesn’t know how important their music, performances, and fans areㅎ I’ll be looking forward to seeing her more! I’ll always support you^^ 5. [+2566,-59] I really really like her~ She’s cool^^ 6. [+460,-10] But really, if you see Unpretty Rapstar, you can see how weak Jessi is in rap battles.. I think they’ve done it twice now, but she doesn’t talk bad about the other members.. I was curious why she was being so soft, but it’s because her heart is like that 7. [+437,-16] The second generation Yoon Mirae isn’t Yuk Jidam. It’s Jessi! 8. [+392,-11] People like her are super loyal once you get to know them. She’s just really honest, it’s not that her personality is bad 9. [+350,-6] “Listen carefully, midget. I’m your unnie.†10. [+329,-7] I don’t know how tenderhearted she is, but seeing how she looks after Yuk Jidam, how she holds hands with Cheetah while listening to raps, and looks at Jimin like a proud mother, I see a new side of her and she really seems like a warmhearted person
  21. Half of Korea “can’t last a week without their cellphones†Translated by john @ www.onehallyu.com Summary: In a survey conducted by KAIT (Korean Association of Information & Technology), 56.1% of Koreans admitted to not being able to last a week after losing their cellphones. 16.1% claimed they could last over a month. The results of the survey basically showed that the contemporary citizen of Korea has a hard time imagining a world where they have to live one day without a cellphone. It is suggested that Koreans will buy a new phone within 1 week rather than waiting past the week to find their phones again. The journalist who wrote this article is almost low key condescending towards those who cannot wait past a week and they suggest that you wait to get your old phone back rather than buying a new one. – 1. [+6687,-119] This article’s title is making it sound like “If Koreans can’t use their cellphones for a week, they grow very impatientâ€, but journalist, do you think you can last an entire week without a phone and still do your job? 2. [+4526,-129] The chance of you finding your phone after losing it is 0.1%. You want to waste your time doing that? 3. [+3841,-57] I wish they would bring actual statistics on how many people find their phones after losing them… Yes, the primary problem is the person losing the phone, but aren’t you aware of the system that is in place right now, not only here but abroad, of cellphone stealing, trading, and selling? You’re focusing too much on this as if people go through withdrawal symptoms without having a phone 4. [+3705,-63] One week would be too much ã…‹ã…‹ 5. [+2504,-46] ã…Žã…Ž Of course they can’t wait… You can be patient and not use the phone, but the fact that someone else out there is using your phone… You can’t let them steal your information. They can use it for anything they want ã…Žã…Ž 6. [+544,-10] Journalist, what are you going to do if you lose your cellphone and at the very moment, your editor is trying to find you?? Do you want to whine that you lost your phone so you can’t tell his call?? 7. [+435,-6] ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ Let’s try making this journalist lose his phone ã…‹ã…‹ 8. [+371,-5] This reminds me of those articles back in the day that were talking about violence in PC games and trying to put down PC cafes 9. [+269,-8] “We need to put more focus on finding our old phones rather than buying new ones†ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Go ahead and put in your effort to that~ You think it’s because of the lack of effort that people are doing that? Even before you report it to the police, your phone is practically already in China… I’m so frustrated at this article. 10. [+246,-8] Is the current cellphone like the home phone from back in the day? Please keep up to date with the generation and times. Don’t complain just to complain – How long can you last without a phone?
  22. I don't know the entire context, but I know that Tymee went through a lot with her previous company when she was promoting as E.via. The agency didn't treat her well, stole her money, and changed her sound. Her Wikipedia article about it is pretty rough to read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tymee. Jolly V in her diss track dissed how Tymee had sold her soul and wasn't a true hip hop artist.
