Local fans should be protective and supportive of their local idols, but for international fans it's not like we're purposely seeking to cause them trouble...just that we're so far away and we have so little information about them, we're always thirsty for the littlest material and news regarding them, especially when it comes to their love life. (So tends to blow things out of proportion whenever we do get our hands on something) International fans want to be closer to them too I won't pretend I understand the Korean mindset yet, since I grew up following most of Western culture despite being Asian ^^; And I haven't been a K-pop fan for long.
