Hello everyone, I have a poem for all of you. Sadness. What I felt when people had to go. Nothingness. The only thing was left, just a big, huge hole Seriously, why does parting have to be hard? Do you think, this is just a game of card? Just a thing, I want you to know May the best will be with you, wherever you go And yes, my sappy poem is for sir Ahjumma Laugh, our Event Team Coordinator. From today, he is going to step down from his position as the coordi. As real life commitments take priority, he will not be able to dedicate his time and effort for OH anymore, and so even if I'm really saddened by this, there's nothing I could do but letting him go He has been an amazing man, meticulous and thorough with his works, and I really enjoyed working with him. His presence will definitely be missed, but for now, let me wish for all the best in his future endeavours, and express my gratitude for all the things he has done. Thanks Ahjumma Laugh! And of course, with this, another person will have to step up and take up the helm. Who will continue to lead the Event Team, and bring more fun and entertaining events for the OH community??? If you checked the first letters in my horrible poem above, you may read the sign, and yes, It will be snsdjm that will take up the post!! Congratulations! As a long-time Event team member, also an enthusiastic participants in many games and events, I bet jm would take up the new task with ease, and look forward for all the fun things that he and the team members are going to present to you all! Hello everyone! Today I'm back with some news regarding our Press Team! Firslty, it's a farewell. Today I want to announce that our Press Coordinator Holke is going to step down on her position. Holke has been amazing to work with, she's always full of ideas and passions, and she has been doing some great work in the growth of the Press Team and the blog in the last years! Unfortunately, it seems that real life gonna take her away from us, and I can only weep and wish all the best things for her future endeavours. Thanks for everything, Holke! With that, Oh Press Team is coming back with a vengeance, and there are a lot of exciting things that we are going to deliver in the future. Before any of you trying to be funny with "OH has a blog???", yes, we do, and shame on you for not checking them out. We will try to bring more interesting articles and original content for you, so please check them out! With that, I'm also introducing a new section where the Press Team can showcase their work, please pass by and give them support! Of course, the team would need a new leader. I'm glad to introduce Rinne, who will be stepping up as the new supreme leader of the OhPression. Rinne is definitely not a LookieLookie in the Press Team, and she has been nothing but impressive for all her works so far. Hi~ We will bring forth some new changes to the Appeal system! As some of you may know(well if you stay off troubles you don't need to know lol), we have an appeal system where you can challenge a decision made by a moderator regarding a warning you may receive. There will be some changes to the system from today onwards, and I hope you guys can take note of it(or just stay out of troubles ) Past: - You make a PM adding me, the Head Moderator, the mod who made the warning. You can make your case, and the mod can explain their decision. Either me or the Head Mod will make a final decision on the appeal, to accept or reject it. Present: - The process will be similar, but instead of me, you will be adding the Senior Moderator team, who will be the ones dealing with the appeal: Pineapple, Bekki and Darkchao45. The three of them will independently review the case, and if the majority of them have the same opinion, it will be the finalized decision for the appeal. If one of them was the one dishing out the appeal, it will automatically decided as one vote for reject. With this new protocol, we hope to get the process of appeal to be handled more cleanly, and the appeals can be handled quickly (as some of you may know, some appeals can take really long when it gets sent to me, really sorry about that ). Please take note on this! -sad-

Hi, Many of you frequent users have noticed the occasional downtime in the last couple of weeks, and I know it has impacted your experience with OneHallyu negatively. I think an apology from me wouldn't do, so I decide to make this post to give you the explanation on why this happened. So what happened? Basically, our hosting provider detected that there are malicious traffic hitting on the IP address that's linked with onehallyu.com. These are not legitimate traffic, and those are supposed to overload the server behind with junk traffic, making it unavailable for any users to visit the site. The malicious traffic is often known as the Denial-of-Service attack, which you guys may have heard of the term DOS (or DDOS: Distributed DOS) As a preventive measure on the hosting provider side, they null-routed our IP address. For simple explanation, all requests that hit on the IP address shall be redirected to nothingness, and none of those requests would hit the underlying server behind. That's why during that time, you guys normally encountered the browser being stuck at Connecting.. This is due to the browser being unable to talk to underlying web-server. TL,DR: We were DOS-ed This wasn't the first time it happened. You guys may have noticed it happening a while ago, which takes 1-2 days for the site to get back up. You may have seen the turn around time being faster this time around. Why is it so? Null-routing is often turned on as a defensive measure, and it normally turns itself off like 1-2 days after the attack subsided. Which means for a couple of days since the attacks started, the IP address will be rendered useless. That's why it took so long for us the first few times we get attacked. Nowadays I found some workarounds to get it back quicker, however I would prefer not to disclose it. Impact: The only obvious impact is that no one can get on the site, apparently. All your posts, threads, PMs are safe, and I do regular backup to make sure nothing gets lost. Random thoughts: I have seen a sudden rise of our popularity in the Russian region, so my first train of thought would be someone rented a botnet in Russia to attack us. DDOS is almost impossible to prevent, and if you have enough money you can always rent a super huge botnet to bring down some big websites (well, not the super huge huge sites). Anyway, these malicious actions are definitely not ethical or legal by any means. I would try to investigate to see what I can dig out of it. Also interesting thought that the attackers would have to spend much more money to attack us than the tiny stipend of monetary loss we have to take... Anyway, that's all from me.
