Which groups would you say improved their vocals from their debut up to now? We've heard of groups not really changing and some getting worse, but which ones improved?

Best episode of the season so far. The swim scene was short but intense. We come to understand more of rin's reasoning, but he remains an ass. I have a feeling haru threw the race, but didn't anticipate what rin would say. I would argue his father's view on swimming is more akin to Haru's than his own, or a mix of both. Kou continues to do tons of work and needs to get with the captain now. Also, a relationship breakdown: makoto deeply likes haru and nitori has a slight crush on rin but both are too caught up in their previous love affair to notice. And kou still loves muscles.

I need some advice. Sometimes when I'm singing, the sound gets stuck in my throat sometimes. It's not all the time, but usually during practice. Any tips on placing the sound forward?

I was expecting Makoto's backstory and reason for his fear to have more impact than it did. The story-telling during that scene was nice though. Rei remains an idiot, but at least he understands that.

I was so shocked to hear how well he spoke English, then I read he lived in Canada for like half his life XD I watched the behind the scenes part of one of his shoots, it's the one he tweeted, and at the end he was speaking like half japanese part english.

Gonna add my vote for Ze:A's Dongjun. Something just sets my gaydar off with him.

My own ranking would be pretty similar to this, but I'm a bit surprised with T-ara and Girl's Day. I always figured T-ara would have been the best. You may or may not know (not sure if you've seen enough of either), but why did you rank those two where you did? I know Minah tends to strain a lot, but I always figured Hyomin, Soyeon, and Eunjung were 3 of the best vocalists in girl groups. Could have just been overhyping back in the day though. She has bad technique, like others said. She seems to have gotten worst, but I haven't really compared her older stuff to her new stuff. Her breathing seems to lack support, and she has trouble with pitch it seems. Sometimes the sound of her voice sounds stuck in her throat.

I always thought of ranking singers as kind of silly, well numbered rankings anyway. I always felt it was better to look at one objectively and see what they could focus on (this whole thought it stemming from something else, not this thread). With that said, let's rank anyway How would any of you rank the 2009 girl groups, excluding fx (since they seem to be the best out of the 09 groups judging from previous opinions and analysis here). including Miss A and Girl's Day cuz someone has to. So, 2ne1, After School, 4 Minute, Rainbow, Secret, Miss A, Girl's Day. Now I haven't seen enough performances, covers, and videos of all 7 to really say yet, but I can later. Just wondering your opinions. Edit: There is T-ara too. Forgot about them.

This part is true, but since Kpop idols all have some voice teacher, they hopefully know how to properly warm up.If you're by yourself without much experience, then definitely you want to be careful. Even humming to yourself is better than going in cold though. Shouldn't you be opening up your jaw though, to give it a fuller sound and not close it off? Or is she doing it too much?

Ahh well I would compare the group as a whole. Then again, it's honestly hard to judge some since they don't sing much. For Rainbow, then it'd be Hyun Young, Jisook, Jaekyung, and SeungA, rather than the entire group. Makes sense for this thread.

Is fx really that good, outside of Luna? Probably the case with some. Warming up is important, it is a muscle after all. Of course, regularly not warming up and going on to sing can hurt your voice and make it worse.

lol @ the Kinsey Reports. They're interesting books on sexuality. I believe one of the findings was the Kinsey Scale. It's nice Hyungsik is finding a hyung in Jang Hyuk. And yeah, his drama this Fall is Heirs. It's getting lots of buzz, partly because Lee Minho and Park Shinhye will be playing the leads. The funny thing is Hyungsik will be playing a kid born into a wealthy family...which is kind of him in real life XD In some happy news, Ghost of Wind has climbed to #25 on MelOn. It is being promoted thought, but as long as it gets them more attention.
