To further elaborate, I wonder if idols like Key or Hoshi would present themselves differently if they had been in different groups. Conversely, I also wonder if there are idols who have more stereotypical feminine interests, or would like to recommend LGBTQA-themed movies or BL shows, or have certain fashion tastes, but don’t share any of that because they worry what their group members would think. Many people would posit a situation like that is fairly common, given what we know and experience as gay and bi men. For a more common frame of reference for people, just imagine yourself and a group of coworkers, or peers in high school. If they are constantly making comments about your voice or looks, about your masculinity, would you feel more or less comfortable being yourself around them, let alone being honest? It’s an answer which will never be full elucidated to us, but it’s also something I can’t help to think about, especially when I witness situations like the ones with Sunoo.

While you do go a bit off-topic and psychoanalytical in your posts sometimes mEeEeEe, I do think you raise an interesting consideration at the end. I also disagree with lgbtxt slightly because those videos and paragraphs do somewhat support the question posed at the end, and users here have speculated before about the environment of I-Land, male idols and body image, Sunghoon’s treatment of Sunoo, and idols being bullied in their group, especially if they might be gay. Also sexuality and masculinity do intertwine a lot. To be clear, I don’t think the fat shaming is disguised homophobia (I think it’s just plain fat shaming which is silly and mean since they’re all the same size), and I do think the fact Sunwoo was chosen for the group by producers or whatever adds to it. Also, I believe that video of Jay and the fake man comment is taken out of context because I think in the full video it wasn’t directed at anyone, but rather a pun since they were covering Boy in Luv. I obviously don’t know what goes behind the scenes or how they feel, but the topic of how Sunoo is treated in the group is being brought up a lot these days. People in this thread seem very convinced of Sunoo’s sexuality and I do wonder as well if he seemed more “straight-passing” and “masculine” he’d be treated differently. I recall myself and others being treated negatively because we didn’t seem “masculine” enough in personality or looks, and guys who were out got even worse treatment. Comments like “you’re just an attention seeker” or “you’re not man enough” were not uncommon, and certainly didn’t help guys already dealing with issues like body dysmorphia. Also makes you think about the environment some idols are in. There are idols people here are convinced are gay or bi, and I wonder if their band mates were different, we’d see them present themselves differently. It can be hard enough for an idol to be true to themselves given the industry and societal norms, and I imagine that would only be amplified if their group members teased or bullied them due to harmless facets of their personality or their personal interests. This is, of course, all speculative. I don’t like to speculate too much which is why I usually just post about news here, but the bulk of this thread is about speculation. I think the overall point and topic is an intriguing one to think about, at least for me. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

A bit of both. My family goes on cruises a lot and it’s a nice balance, with days busy seeing towns and cities, and nights slightly more relaxed with dinner and a show.

This doesn’t mean much but since Hoshi is mentioned so much I thought this fit. Also the one comment is right, it’s the most replayed part of the video for me lol

Happy for them! I was unsure what was going to happen when J.Seph went to the military but happy they came back afterwards, no more enlistments, and their recent comeback has been one of their most successful.

The song sounds okay so far, though very nice for summer.

Part of the issue is how they vacation though. Like I’ve heard many natives don’t mind tourists form Japan because they don’t trash the place and are very respectful. Currently in Italy right now and it’s nice but not quite as awe-inspiring as I hoped. I think the amount of graffiti, trash, and counterfeit good sellers ends up detracting from some of the amazing parts in the cities, but the coast is nice. hmm I’d say either Hawaii because it’s so expensive or Paris for pastries.

Excited for the surprise comeback. I didn’t think Viviz would comeback until August. I wonder what sound it’ll be.

I’ve been to 3 only. Though by comparison, I’ve been to many more spots outside of the U.S.
