What’s everyone watching these days? I watch Minato’s Laundromat and Takara-kun and Amagi-kun and loved both, though Minato’s a bit more. Right now I’m watching Kabe Koji which is pretty funny and charming. The idol aspects remind me of KPOP idols lol. Also just started Eternal Yesterday and the acting, lighting, and music are all great but I have a feeling it will break my heart.

Which Korean idols do you think have now earned the singer/actor tag?
sergel replied to Seunghee's eyebrows's topic in Random
Yeah that’s a good point, I forgot about Taeyeon’s lack of acting but she does fit the singer aspect well. Sungjae I’d say, since his group is pretty well known and not known as idols. I feel like if he counts Eunji would count too for similar reasons, but the difference being she has released more solos. Right now I’d hesitate to say Sejeong since she sings still but focuses more on acting at the moment especially since she’s pretty new, but she’s pretty good in both talent-wise. Seo In Guk might be another one though he’s less idol like. -

IU is the first one, and probably Taeyeon. BtoB likely too. -

The outfits don’t look that different from these ones except the extra color. The hair is a bit of a departure though. -

Which male idols do you think are gay?
sergel replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Didn’t see this posted but it was nice to see. Found it on Reddit on the Japan sub. https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20221011/p2g/00m/0na/058000c Some wards already recognized it, but this seems to apply it to the whole city which is huge. Some other areas of Japan recognize it too, and some companies as well. It’s really only legally significant for housing or medical status it seems, as so many other benefits are tied to the federal government like immigration, inheritance, and taxes. Still it’s big, and like the article says, the more cities that recognize it the harder it will be for the federal government to ignore same-sex marriage. -
Which male idols do you think are gay?

From what I have seen and heard, rainbows for the general Korean person is just a nice symbol, and a bit hopeful (rainbow after the rain) and that’s true for a lot of people. However, for Korean part of the LGBTQA community they seem very aware of the Pride meaning as you see it in some of their videos, clothes, captions, and charities. So I don’t think an average Korean may associate the rainbow with queerness but a gay Korean very well may. -
Anyone know if any of the actors here used to do musical theater? A comment mentioned some might have but that’s kind of vague lol

They look stunning in those BTS pics of the shoot.

I’m glad they did this before Yonghoon enlisted. Also he looks great with the pink hair.

That particular ranking I found on a Reddit post that posted that linked the video source, but the actually video source account has been deleted lol The first one I posted was from a blog: http://profilekpop.blogspot.com/2015/12/ranking-kpop-vocal.html?m=1 But I didn’t post it saying it was the most accurate, I just wondered what an updated one of that with the active singers would look like (some of the ones there we haven’t heard from in years it feels like). It’s also was a ranking that had male vocalists which is a bit harder to find. I’m assuming it’s hard to directly categorize male and female vocalists though because how different their voices are? I think it’s fine to use whatever you’re used to, and if the blog system works then no need to change. I guess I was just confused what’s really different between the 2 systems other than the labels of the category (like a C tier would probably be an Average equivalent wouldn’t it?).
-
I find it easier to understand personally, especially in higher grades where minor things seem to differentiate them, like with the B tier in general. Not sure how accurate some placements are but it gives a nice overall picture for me. Generally I’d consider people in C tier to be average, and it makes sense most vocalists would be average and the exceptional fewer. Of course it means less if we don’t know what actually differentiates them, but that’s true for any ranking.
-
Oh I meant the letter grades, like B- or C+. The ranking system used here a lot has plenty of distinctions, it’s just sometimes the difference between them can be confusing. I saw a YouTube video the letter grade system though it’s taken down now. It ranked it as following The system a lot here uses has different distinctions like the Average, A to AA, but as someone who isn’t familiar with it back from back in the day, it doesn’t seem any different than the letter grades system, so it seems like personal preference. The confusing part is that average seems to mean a lot of things especially with categories like Above Average, AA to Good, competent, etc. like competent and good feel like they mean the same thing, but it’s easy to see an A is better than a B, for example. For instance, I was always confused with ranking vocalists in the categories like Average to Above Average, because wouldn’t they already be above average then? What’s the thing keeping them from being “above average” but not “average?” At the end of the day vocal rankings tend to have a lot of debate though, especially when you get into the nitty gritty.
-
That part makes sense, though maybe more distinctions would help, though it doesn’t seem too different than Average, A to AA, Above Average, etc. I’ve seen lists using both, though peoples definition of what constitutes “average” seems to vary lol.
-
How come you don’t like the letter system? It doesn’t seem too different and seems less confusing, though less descriptive.
-
Ooh these are pretty.

I wonder what a current-day equivalent of a chart like this would look like?
