  1. Aww nice to read new rating, I'm no rap expert I just like to listen so can you guys rate NO.MERCY's rappers?

There's Jooheon, #Gun, IM, Yoonho and (eliminated) Kwangji. Thanks

Ok post videos and we will try to be objective ^__^ :)

  2. agreed, she's gorgeous. while I think they're all cute in their own ways, I don't understand why people shit on the likes of Sooyoung and act as if she's horribly ugly, but praise Yoona to the high heavens for her looks... she's cute and pretty, but not mindblowingly good looking. to me she looks plain in comparison to Sooyoung. idg your taste Korea...

YoonA is awesome too.it is called beauty standard....For example you see a lot go for tanned ppl in the west ...in the east they tend to like both but fav pale ppl so beauty standard and ifind .both are gorgeous tbh.. yoonA was the best in genie I like only her in snsd tho~ because I don't follow snsd musically their k releases is not my style~ but her dramas all of them I watched even ppl who don't know kpop know k actors so I knew about kpop from kpop acts in Japan and kdramas tbh.

Btw who negs in the unpopular opinion thread O.o I should upvote u but I wasted all my upvotes ;___; Im blocked from thumping up OTL

  3. Well yeah, I do agree that deeper tones sound better generally. But that's just a personal preference, and it has absolutely nothing to do with their skill  It would be unfair to favor some rappers just because they were born with a hella attractive voice lol

I agree that freestyle is impressive, difficult to master, and a fairly rare skill among rappers, but don't sell short the time, talent, intelligence and practice required to become a great lyricist (which, if you think about it, is a component of being a great freestyle rapper). A lot of MCs take months or years to produce an album and yet they still come up with crap. Like I said before, it takes real skill to be able to write well -- mediocre rappers will still come up with mediocre raps even if you give them a decade to write. Most mainstream American hiphop music should be more than enough evidence of that. (sorry Americans... still a lot of great talent in the underground though)

Anyway, here's an example of what great lyricism in hiphop is like:

As for battles, it's pretty evident how much high-quality written bars elevated the game:

^ Compare that to the average freestyle battle from back in the day... You'd think they were all high (well, they probably were but still...) :derp:

Honestly, yes. (No offense, I love J-Hope and BTS) It really didn't help that he went after RapMon too  He is improving though!

But you're absolutely right that he shouldn't be ranked the same as the others in the same tier. There are only a few tiers so some rappers with different skill levels might get clumped in the same tier together.

I think we should give them a general score before ranking them because there's no way J-Hope and Hyoyeon are similar.

The second quote true!! Unfair rating tbh.

Let'sBring this thread to life by rating by numbers exactly me and you each day one rapper ...u post and we judge based on 5 criteria ..agree?

    .....

Sure lyrics rap is more elegant ...I just purely meanthate skill of rap is a bonus and I see a rapper with all 5 criteria is awesome but iM not rating based on oh who is better lyrics or freestyle but based on how the delivery overall for sure but still I see freestyle should be in a rapper.

  5. Just watched Naruto the last today, i enjoyed it a lot and it is totally about NaruHina. But lol at sasuke only had several seconds or at least a minute of screen time.

I want to watch it hoping for other couples too~ is there only naruhina I like them tho~

  6. J-Hope is still below mid tier?  :imstupid:

I kinda understand when they started out, but he is constantly improving, goes out of his way to explore and try out new techniques, and writes his own lyrics... to rate him below than some of the midtiers in the list...

    So these are below avarege?

EDIT: Other than that it was fun reading the posts, and there were many inetersting debates as well.

Honestly, I don't agree, but I also am not sure.

J-Hope' technique isn't there the best, but I'm pretty sure he writes their own parts, right? So I think he's average (not sure!!).

Now I noticed if he is below mid tier acc to list ...then he is the same as tao , kai? exo is my bias group but I'm objective and they deserve this below mid but jhope? no way ...they are in the same level no way even that bts singer I forgot his name better than them I see your points.

  7. ok thanks, its because on my old computer that doesnt work anymore i had this emulator/rom or whatever its called thing to play some video games like NES and stuff, and now i want to download a gameboy advance rom to my newer pc but i dont remember what i did to download it cos it was years ago.. So idk what emulator or whatever to download, like what works and whats safe?

    did it make any sense..

You are lucky I passed an ic3 test before 2 years I think I still have some infos about that if you need to set up an emulator I suggest you see this website from abc and learn more about it....>

    http://computers.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-set-up-and-use-emulators-to-play-classic-games-of-yesteryear--cms-20600

I usually use ps3 so I'm not into these things lolz.

  8. Okay, I can agree with this :)

I see. It's probably because we watch different stuff. I'm guessing you mostly watch freestyle battles? I mostly watch FlipTop, KOTD and URL -- all of which are pre-written battle leagues. The only time freestyle comes into play is when they make clever rebuttals. Also, ever since I've been exposed to intelligent, articulate and inventive rappers, I can't go back to listening to people who spit incoherent senseless bars just for the sake of rhyming. But hey, that's just me... Of course, I am doubly impressed by freestyle rappers who are really quick-witted and can come up with ingenious lines off the top of their heads :)

But I still think lyricism should never be ranked lower than flow or delivery. Even little kids could learn how to do the Pokerap well given enough time and practice :har:

Lol well I completely disagree with those kpop fans. Just to drop a few names: Eminem, Gloc 9, and Tablo. All of them have pretty "annoying" nasally voices tbh, but it certainly doesn't take away from their skill.

But tbh ...the rappers with deep tone attracts ppl a lot even sometimes I see their skill is weak rt? Freestyle reflects the rapper as witty and cool ...lyrics is imp but u might come up with it in long time~ but freestyle comes up with it in secondsminutes girl! ~0~

  9. Nah, your english is perfectly fine! :)

It's difficult for me to give a weight for freestyle like the other criteria tbh. While I do think that freestyling is the foundation of any good rapper (I know of very few local rappers who didn't start out from underground freestyle battles), I don't think it necessarily follows that the being the best at freestyle equates to being the best rapper. The ability to write meaningful, eloquent, and well-thought-out lyrics with a complex rhyme scheme and the ability to freestyle -- and I mean actual freestyle, not i-wrote-this-two-weeks-ago-and-i'm-gonna-spit-slowly-so-people-won't-notice -- are two completely different skills and I judge them separately.

This isn't a very relatable example, but in my country, Gloc 9 is widely considered to be one of the best Filipino rappers/musicians of this generation. He also started in the underground hiphop scene, and eventually he became one of the most decorated recording artists in the local music industry. His raps are not only beautifully constructed, but they also tackle a wide range of social issues the country is facing. He has won almost every award he has ever been nominated for -- including the most prestigious music award in the Philippines (which is pretty damn rare for a hiphop artist). In short, he is effing incredible. But as celebrated as he is, he is faaaaar from being the best freestyle rapper in the game. In fact, he even admitted that it wasn't his thing, and there is presently a whole bunch of other MCs who can easily destroy the him in a freestyle rap battle. But put them in a room and give them a pen, a paper, and five months (or years, really), and they would still not be able to come up with a song half as brilliant as most of Gloc 9's work.

So yeah, if we're talking about music alone, I don't put that much emphasis on rappers' ability to freestyle.

Also, if a rapper never writes his/her own material, then I'm pretty sure he/she is not supposed to be called a rapper lol :derp: That's the most basic requirement imo. And I don't think it's as rare in kpop as you think :) As far as I know, a lot of idol rappers write their own stuff.

I can't for the life of me rank lyricism that low :._.: I think that's where rap as an artform truly shines.

About vocal tone... I don't know if I've just gotten used to hearing the most aggravating voices, but I really don't mind it that much  If the delivery fits the emotion of the song, then it's fine. I'm so bothered by rappers who sound so hyped in a slow melancholic song

I agree on the others though.

    EDIT:

If we're gonna include freestyle, this will be my new criteria:

    Lyricism - 40%

    Flow - 25%

    Freestyle - 20%

    Delivery - 14%

    Tone - 1%

Lyrics is this high! Wow ....freestyle> lyRics imo

You guys don'tcare about tone but kpop fans judge rappers on it ..~ this is annoying rapper and this is not lolz~

  10. Nice.

Anyway, these tier were created without taking into account lyricism and freestyles, no?

Then we would have to redo it.

    My vote is:

    Flow: 25%

    Delivery: 25%

    Lyricism: 20%

    Freestyle: 25%

    Tone: 5%

    this ia nice ;)

I agree with it even I don't follow all of them from little cuts here and there I can say it is on point~
