this epi has made me wish yg debuted 6 members instead of 7

 

praying hard for you to have just trolled us all jinhyeong

 

If the rumor is true then he might pull a Yunhyeong on us except within the timespan of this show. Keep praying, because this group needs a miracle.

Not only this but Daesung and Taeyang's voices always had a pleasant tone. Also Seungri's and GD's voices were never as polarizing as Jinhwan's. The only thing I get from this comparison is that they need a Tayeang for Junhoe's Daesung

I've also made the Bom-Junhoe comparison before but nobody wanted to hear it. I'm afraid he'll ruin his voice in the long run if he doesn't learn proper technique. His progress could either go down the Daesung route or the Bom route. Hopefully the former.

For real though, poor Chanwoo. He has an endearing personality that makes you want to root for him but he's the least likely out of all the candidates to the make the group. In addition to being a weak singer, he's also similar to Yunhyeong, except Yunhyeong is way better in all areas.

Yup. I feel that way even more-so after today. YG is still calling Lisa/Lalice a 'potential' member of YG's new girl group at this point?   Yeah, IMO all signs point to a M&M season 2 with the girls.

Come to think of it, the reason that YHS had such a hardon for Seunghoon on K-POP Star is because he couldn't sing or rap, like YHS himself. It's all starting to make sense!

The Daehyun comparison wasn't supposed to be taken literally (uh). He obviously doesn't sound exactly like Daehyun, but the undertones are similar to the kind of tones popular with most Kpop idols - Daehyun, Onew, Etc.

I wasn't impressed with either of the new boys.  I think Jinhyeong, by virtue of his nice speaking voice, can probably learn to sing at least to Yunhyeong's level -- but this team has no time to wait around for that shit.  If anything else, Bobby, B.I and Junhoe need to debut like, yesterday.

 

Hongseok had better be good or else this will be a complete disaster.  Might as well have run with the original lineup and save all the kids this stress.

 

Exactly. I thought the point of M&M was to add ready-to-go vocalists who will improve the group. Not to bring in some guys with vague 'potential' who need to train for 2 more years just to get on the level of a (let's be honest) basic vocalist like Yunhyeong.

 

A pretty face sure does go a long way in getting people to excuse a lack of talent.

For future battles, we'd might as well just give an automatic win to whichever team gets Junhoe. He's like a flotation device and all these dudes can't swim.

I went back to listen to Jinhyeong again to try and hear this 'potential' but lmao, it's not there in this performance. Are you guys counting the ending eyyyy's as part of his performance? Because he was singing in unison with Yunhyeong the whole time. The camera kept zooming on JH but it was actually YH that you were hearing the most at that part. Jinhyeong's solo part was horrible. He sounded like some guy who doesn't normally sing, trying to sing along with the radio alone in his car. Is YG for real?

 

We'll see how he does on the next evaluation, but the B.A.P Daehyun comparison is just... lol. A joke.

If hong seok is good YG still need to cut down to 5 or at best 6. 7 is too much for what im being shown right now. 7 would mean 3 or even 4 untalented vocalists depending on if  hong seok is talented or not. Thats too much.

 

I agree. There aren't 7 among this bunch who deserve to debut. Knowing YG, he wouldn't go with 5 because he's intent on making sure his groups aren't too similar, and having a different number of members is just one easy way to help differentiate them from BB and Winner.

 

But talking about the possibility of the number of members being changed is giving me flashbacks to those 'Team C' discussions from the WIN thread. Something tells me we're going to end up with 7 members no matter how little sense it makes.

 

 

 

I don't want to make a hasty judgment based on a few seconds of one song, but Jinhyung seems to be the worst out of all of them. Dude sounded like he was talking his parts. Tuneless, almost like he has no concept of what good singing sounds like. I was shocked. And he's supposed to be the one that had formal training?

 

Chanwoo sounds how Yunhyung probably sounded before he had any training.  He can't sing. As a positive, he has the likability factor going for him.

 

Donghyuk is just horrendous. All that autotune and filters on "Wait For Me" made me forget how terrible he actually is. His tone is even worse than Jinhwan's, just horrid to have to hear.

 

YG really did Junhoe dirty. How could he lump him in with those scrubs after witnessing those performances? I wouldn't even be able to do it without feeling like a dickhead afterwards. Let alone release a statement implying that he's not on Jinhwan's level in terms of skill. There's a fucking ocean between Junhoe and the rest. Anyone can see that. Where is YG's head at?

 

If Hongseok can't sing, then this show is going to be so painful and frustrating to watch.

That's why I included the "at least not right away" clause. There have been a few groups that I only had casual interest in and then ended up becoming a big fan later when their discography started to fill out. So I'm not intent on stanning them upon debut but I'll watch them for a while and see what happens.

Your standards are/were Jinhwan and Infinite, so. Apparently people prioritize different things, and some people prioritize whiny vocals more than others.

I said this in the line chat but I'd honestly think it'd be really smart to have Eunbi get a solo debut this year. Something in the fall/winter that the Korean public would eat up, satisfy the fans, and build hype for the group in general.

Yeah! And then she can remain as a soloist...

 

But lol theatrics aside, I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea given how successful that other SSK girl's debut was. What's her name again?

 

If she's still in the group after it's all said and done, fine. She can be a secondary lead vocalist, I just don't really know how necessary her role is anymore when you could just allocate a few more lines to Hana and Chaeyoung instead. I mean it's not like there's going to be tons of lines for each member anyway after you're done dividing them between 7-8 girls.

 

On the other hand, if they aren't that talented, then I guess the more the merrier? It's easier to hide the mediocre ones when you have a ton of members. I just hope YG is still conscious of making sure this group is pretty enough to satisfy expectations in addition to being talented.

 

I know I mentioned this before (although I don't think anyone responded towards it) but do you think YG may recruit another girl or 2 from Kpopstar4?

 

I think it could be possible (especially since they are searching for foreigners too). I would be torn if that happen. One part wouldn't like it because I like the original lineup and I don't want the chances of O8 members getting the boot to increase. Although on the other hand if she or they are talented enough and if they are beautiful, then another girl or 2 wouldn't hurt.

If said girls are

1. Hot

and

2. Carrying vocals

 

Then sure, why not? The group isn't debuting any time soon anyway so I'm not worried about the potential delay anymore. But otherwise, no sir.

 

Look, I just want the most solid group possible in terms of looks, talent and charisma - ideally by the end of 2015. I don't mind if someone has to get replaced to make the group better, so long as the right decisions are being made.

I think it's nice to have some fans like Nate Pann in the fandom. Nobody has to like every single member in the group.

But this is not even a proper fandom yet. Just a bunch of loonies who got caught up in obsession with a hypothetical group that they may or may not even like whenever they debut.

Anyway, didn't some of you supposedly give up on waiting for this group after UNIQ was revealed? I can tell you now that we're not going to hear any news about this group for the rest of the year, so it's pointless to blow a gasket every time another YG artist comes out. This thread will be going in circles for the next few months. Just accept it.
