  1. It lasted longer than people give it credit for, honestly. I remember uploading the fanbase almost everyday during the entirety of 2017, and then the 1st months of 2018 up until May when she literally disappeared, and we all collectively knew it was because of JYPNGG's preparation, which was further confirmed when 2 months later, pictures of her with the girls began surfacing more and more. We obviously began suffering through a huge drought of Somi around April/May, but she still had activities and stuff to do here and there up until then.

Right now, under TBL, it's as if we're in that drought again, except she sometimes updates her IG? Cool.

And I totally agree, side activities are nothing compared to Somi on a stage, but right now I'm seeing neither happening. At least side activities are activities, and also, they are the main way any Kpop idol earns money anyway (because no, the money isn't in music, sadly). And I also agree, had she stayed as a solo act in JYPE, it would have been a career suicide (although that was never my point to begin with), but you can't blame me for lowkey wishing she'd have signed under M&H now, because as much as they're not big3, still sounds like they're doing much better than  JYPE & TBL combined, woopdidoo!

At the end of the day I'm just frustrated and tired of, y'know still nothing under the sun. And y'know what? I'm not even sure that whenever she'll debut, she'll get to have a physical album. I can smell that "digital single" pointing its ugly nose from halfway across the world and it honestly doesn't comfort me at all.

I am thankful for the few updates we used to get on her back then (better than nothing I guess) but to me most of these provided no real contect? if you know what I mean. A picture once every so often (usuall old ones if we are at that, you could tell by the hair style when they were recently taken or not) and a couple bts videos doesnt do as much for me as Somi's dancing practice videos for example or one performance of hers, even if that is were the money is at. When I think of promotions and activities I think of performances, mcing, collab stages and variety shows. Sadly we didnt get much of that in 2018, that is what I meant with my post. But I know this is subjective and everyone must have felt different about it.

I hope when she debuts we will get lots of performances and that she will get to actively promote a lot on tv. But for now all we can do is wait and while we are at it, I think it would be more enjoyable for everybody not to do so in a negative way. Lets leave the past behind and focus on her future.

  2. Ok so I literally went through Chungha's thread and backtracked it from the end of January 2017 (I.O.I's disbandment) to June 2017 (debut with Roller Coaster) and there's literally one thing this girl didn't do and it's: staying in the dungeon.

She was always doing something, whether it was: doing variety shows, releasing OST songs, doing lots of Pictorials & interviews, doing lots of radio shows, hosting as an MC for some festival and/or show, talking often to her fans on her fancafe, being a special guest on DIA's concert, releasing a pre-debut track, doing Vlives, doing featurings on other groups's song, getting CFs, etc...

ALL THIS while M&H was: opening & updating Fancafe, Vlive, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram & official Website as soon as possible, updating on her schedule every month, releasing BTS videos & photos about Chungha's activities very regularly, connect with fans in anyway possible, have the sweetest and most supporting manager ever that would always release pics and selcas of Chungha, and so on.

6 months. And Chungha managed to do all that. All before Roller Coaster even happened.

We're 4 months in since Somi signed with TBL, and the only thing that happened thus far, is her CF deal with Nuovo. That's it. That's motherfucking it. TBL hasn't even opened any kind of SNS, fancafe, vlive or official website for her, how tragic is that?

Maybe now y'all will understand why I don't feel very serene much. Y'all can't tell me the difference of treatment here isn't depressing and worrisome. It's as if TBL is treating Somi as a nugu trainee nobody knew of, and not as a full-blown debuted artist who deserves proper management and schedules, whether she has officially debuted under them or not. Y'all can shit on JYPE as much as it makes you feel better (since that's apparently the consensus around here these days), but y'all can't deny they definitely did the bare minimum and let her have a fancafe, an official website and even do Vlives. That's, so far, still more than what we have right now.

Fuck, I pissed myself even more now, goddammit.

Regarding JYPE, I believe the problem was they did provide some activities right after IOI's disbandment, but it didnt last that much? Yes, Somi had an official website with barely any updates if at all, and I cant find it right now but I remember seeing screencaps of her schedule throughout 2018 before the website went down and guess what? she had literally 2 activities at most in the entire year (one of which was the Berlin Music Bank...). When she went MIA from her usual instagram updates we all guessed it was because she was preparing to debut with Itzy however she had been jobless way before that and for a very long time in fact.

Anyway, I am not trying to defend TBL here or anything, I am actually very dissappointed with her debut delay and SO tired of waiting. I am just trying to point out where the general dissatisfaction with JYPE's management comes from. The fanta and reebok cf's were cool and all but it doesnt compare to standing on stage and doing music which is ultimately what Somi has shown to actually want to do. And no, her Eric Nam and 2 seconds in Jun K's solo do not count to me as promoting or doing music. Not that makes the current situation anymore comforting, but had she stayed in JYPE and not formed part of Itzy she would have more than likely continued to be in the dungeon for a very long while..

As for TBL, I guess they are staying quiet now to avoid more incoming unnecessary hate and comparisons from JYPE nation stans who (some at least) have already made up theories about how they will take advantage of Itzy's debut hype. And I am guessing the first couple of quiet months were, among other things (like preparing for debut?), to calm down the waters and public reaction regarding the change of company. I was honestly just fine with all that so far as Somi would debut on March and get good promotions once she finally debuts.

Now I am.. left with disappointment once again. I hope she will debut in April as the latest. And that she gets a bop, at least a mini album, and a complete cycle of promotions and not a one week thing.

  3. Oh nothing at all, I think she has beautiful lips, but considering it's the trend these days to do lip fillers even though you have beautiful full lips to begin with (IE: Chungha who didn't need anything at all, and also Yeonjung wo recently started doing it too), I feel like it might be something she'd try even once to enhance them. It's a very soft way to enter the world of PS as well, considering fillers are usually non-invasive and not permanent.

Ah ok, I think she has beautiful lips too. Personally, I am not a fan of lip fillers... I just dont like the way they look, so I am hoping she wont get them but we will see. ^^

  4. Having followed Somi since she was 14, I think we all should consider she has clearly gone through puberty and lost a lot of baby fat througout the years right in front of us, and like some people have pointed out already she is half white. I dont think she has got anything done yet but if she does get something in the future, I believe it might be correcting the little bump on her nose too.

If she has done something tho is was very subtle cause I cant even tell laugh.png

Yeah Somi got her dad's nose, he has the exact same one, with the exact same bump. I'm fairly sure a lot of us Somi fans love it, but we don't know what Somi herself thinks about it, and she might wanna correct that bump one day, so again, I'd much rather focus on how the profile of her nose will look like in the upcoming years to finally spot PS, rather than her eyes.  Also, maybe camera lens can be taken into account for why the nose looks bigger. Also, anyone stanning Somi know she's been through a lot of puffy-looking phases because of baby fat and water-retention (and also eating and stressing, probably) which she talked at length (and is why she mentioned doing the banana diet on some varieties, because she hated how puffy she looked like and wanted her face to slim down). She probably can retain a lot of water at times, hence why her face can change and look puffier than usual. It's different than when it's fillers, not the same kind of puffy (and her skin doesn't look affected by it like it can get affected by fillers).

Anyway, again, like I said, in order to spot if Somi ever starts doing PS or alterations to her face, I'm fairly sure the nose and the lips are the major points of interest and what should be focused on in order to spot any changes happening. Her eyes on the other hand? Not so much.

     What about her lips?

  5. I learnt thread's followers reseted if thread not active for 15 days so please sometimes come and post cute gifs of Yoonjin or let's discuss about her future etc.

Hi, sorry does this mean if we follow the thread and it is unactive for a while the system might make us unfollow it without notice?

I miss Yunjin so much, I am hoping her debut is near <3 I read somewhere she is studying at Hanlim now?

  6. The mv teaser reminded me a bit of snsd's hoot era, but that's just because of the elevator nothing else really concept wise lol

How is ITZY pronounced in Korean? Just watched a youtuber pronouncing it and it sounded like "Edgy" which I think kinda fits with their image.

  7. It's not a conspiracy theory, it's common practice in the industry.

Is it? Because I see so many wrong things with the statement I quoted before and some follow up replies.

Somi is not under YG, she is under TBL runned by Teddy. TBL management depends on Teddy. So far we havent seen anything coming from them to justify these conspiracies people are making up. On the contrary, they have been quiet for a long time.. (too quiet perhaps, as a fan of Somi I am actually a bit worried in this sense, I hope her debut is not delayed). Has Teddy ever used his artists for this YG tactics people talk about? Has Zion T been used like that? Honestly curious, I do want to know. With all this conspiracies people are making up you are the ones piting Somi against Itzy's debut.

And all the "YG wants to put out Somi in March as fast as possible to take some wind out of ITZY's sails" is just... a big no. Somi has been waiting to properly debut for years, her fans have been waiting for years, we are all so tired of it. It makes perfect sense to me that she would sign to a label that promises to debut her as soon as possible, so her debut in March is not about Itzy it is about Somi.

Finally, I just need to take this off my chest but what is it with people saying YG stole Somi from JYP? lol how do you know? YG doesnt move the strings all the time, artists make their own decisions and in this particular case Somi decided to sign with TBL (not YG) which if you think about it, it kind of makes sense? Somi has always been a big fan of Teddy's music, as we have learnt from Chungha and Jun K she is into producing, and she is also very close to Minzy too who has talked well about Teddy before (about how helped her through hard times and depression), so there is a probability she got introduced to him like this. I just feel like people are trying to write their own narrative on things based so far on nothing.

  8. Yeah this group had been planned for Q4 2018 / Q1 2019 for the longest time. Now YG wants to put out Somi in March as fast as possible to take some wind out of ITZY's sails. What was JYP going to do? Just wait until YG debuts Somi and have ITZY come out afterwards? That'd be a terrible idea.

Nothing against Somi personally but lets be real here. YG is going to use her for his disgusting pitting of artists against each other crap and mediaplay. Guaranteed. Its probably 90% of the reason he wanted to have her signed in the first place.

Note this was from an official YG twitter and on the official YG life propaganda website. YG is going to have a field day with this shit, I guarantee all of you. Get ready for it.

Can we stop with all this consipary theories involving Somi please? Somi is under TBL not YG, she wont be managed by YG, she doesnt need the mediaplay of a rivalry and she herself asked to support Itzy. If anything Somi announced first that she would debut in March so it doesnt seem like they were planning on taking advantage of another group's debut or else they wouldnt have gone as far as specify the month (they could have just said 1st quarter and wait for Itzy's debut to drop the bomb but they didnt).

  9. I think the current hype will transform into good streaming and mv views, but sales come from the fandom. I would recommend not to have super high expectations for first day/week sales. If they do reach high sales so early in their carreer I will be honestly super glad ♥ but I think it is better to continue with humble mindset and dont expect too much from the begining, their sales will grow with time same as their fandom. The girls must be feeling a lot of pressure about their debut performance on music charts already as it is, better not to add more into it. Best would be a good public friendly song that manages to keep the interest for future releases too.

  10. Now that you mention it, Itzy is giving me a mix of Weki Meki and Red Velvet Bad Boy. Less so blackpink. I think they will probably keep that young, cutesy side since it is very public friendly, and I won't miss that as much for Somi.

Somi definitely has potential for an international career. And thinking about it, I don't think there are really any cool-girl, western steet-style pop acts in Korea right now, since Heize falls more R&B I think - it could set her apart. Add in Somi's fun and edgy side and it could be a hit. Maybe influence from:

-Dua Lipa (especially Blow Your Mind, & Kiss and Make-up)

    -Blackpink

    -Hailee Steinfeld Love Myself

    -Mnet 2017 MoveMnet promo

This sort of range. With clean lyrics of course. And it would translate well to the western market.

Hi, I am sorry I meant to +1 but pressed the wrong icon from my phone :(
