  1. It's been 4 years!  Congrats!!  Who would have thought OH would last this long?

    Thanks are due to all the past and present staff for the hours that they've put in to keep this forum alive and happening.  Pretty remarkable, considering that all of them serve/served on a purely voluntary basis.

    ~~~
    Whatever happened to the always sassy Shik?  Missed the long essays that sx21 used to post.  I wonder if shaysonic still checks out Shinee's new releases.  Does Sand11 even know 2ne1 has disbanded?
    Also, has anyone found the decomposed bodies of Kaito, Miku and len yet?  Or do they lurk in OH under new identities?
    So many unanswered questions, so much to reminiscing to do...
  2. Club World Cup finals is into extra time, after Real Madrid drew 2-2 with Kashima Antlers in normal time.
    Real led from a Benzema tap-in (after the Kashima keeper saved a Modric shot), but Kashima fought back before half time though Shibasaki.  The same player scored a spectacular goal after the break, before Ronaldo equalised with a goal on 60 minutes from the penalty spot.
    Link for anyone interested in catching the rest of the match: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ydKXM38QJU9
    Edit: Ronaldo just scored his second (and Real's third) goal in extra time. Real leading by 3 to 2 against Kashima, with 20 minutes to go.
  3. Not a Man Utd fan, but I'll throw in my two cents' worth anyway:
    Last season, Man Utd finished equal on points with Man City, and 16 points ahead of Chelsea.  This season, all three clubs have new managers in charge.
    Conte took over a team comprising mostly unmotivated players who were derided for spectacularly cocking up the defence of their league title.  He quickly identified the problem areas, changed to a 3-4-3 formation, got the same supposedly shit players to play to their strengths (e.g. Hazard), fully utilized players who were ignored under the old regime (e.g. Victor Moses), and Chelsea is doing fine now.
    Pep took over a team of underperformers (Man City finished 4th, mind) and got them on a record winning run from the off.  He hit a road bump at the Camp Nou, stumbled afterwards for a bit, but managed to get back on course and, just two weeks after that 0-4 loss, managed to fashion a convincing win over Barcelona (the first time Man City has done so in six attempts).
    Mourinho took over a team that finished last season with the same points total as Man City.  A team that was capable of achieving much more, were it not held back by their supposedly incompetent ex-managers.  The new manager added 160 million pounds worth of talent (talent which he handpicked), and declared himself satisfied with his improved squad and ready to challenge for the league title.  Indeed, given the talent at his disposal, before the season started, Man Utd was widely tipped to go toe-to-toe with Man City this season.  Instead, things haven't gone as planned, and, 10 league matches in, the finger-pointing blame game has already started in earnest.
    Not Mourinho's fault?  Really?  Hmm... oh well, not my club, not my problem.
  4. That's a private matter, but you can PM him and ask. It'll be up to him if he wants to discuss it.
    What happened to Dimples Hyung
    Shouldn't OH come forward with its official position though?  Especially given what was claimed by Suga'sGF in her (since deleted) thread.  Otherwise, this will be the subject of innuendoes and speculation, and has the potential to blow up into OHgate v2.0
  5. Twenty two passes from kick-off to ball-in-net  :ahmagah:
    A club, slammed in the past by its own fans for throwing cup games in a desperate and futile attempt to increase chances of survival in the league, made 7 changes to the first team in a cup game.  Result: 72% possession; 27 shots to 1 for the other team; 6 goals without reply; 13th win in 15 games.  Into the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.  Plus the small matter of being top of the Championship.
    A club reborn and reunited under Rafa.  (In King Kenny's voice): I'll tell you, honesty, I'll love it if Newcastle and Liverpool were to meet in the final. Love it!  :rlytearpls:
  6. Some context: On the 1st of February, 2015, Inter lost an away game to Sassuolo by a scoreline of 1-3.  After the game, Icardi (who wasn't made a captain until 6 months later) and his teammate Freddy Guerin got into a furious row with the Inter Ultras who threw their jerseys back at them.
    Icardi's recounting of the events, in his own words:
    “I am angry because I played so little. The fans start to shout: they call us to come over to their section. I find the courage to face them, along with Guerin.
    “As I get closer, I receive insults and abuse of every kind.
    Attached to the netting is a kid who calls me: he wants my shirt.  Considering his age, he could be my son: I take off my shirt and shorts and throw them to him, as a gift. This kid is in seventh heaven and I am pleased to see him so happy.
    “A head of the ultras jumps on him to take away the shirt and throws it back at me.
    This is when I start insulting him: ‘Piece of ****, you are acting all arrogant with a little kid to show off to the rest of the curva? Do you think you’re hard?’
    “In the locker room I am acclaimed as a hero, because nobody had ever faced off that way with one of the fan leaders.â€
    "I am ready to face [the ultras] one by one.  How many are there?  50? 100, 200?  Ok, record my message andi let him listen: I'll bring 100 criminals from Argentina who'll kill them where they stand, then we'll see.".
    .
    He added in his autobiography that "I used threatening words towards the fans and I shouldn't have done that."
    He tried to calm the situation down before the Cagliari match by posting an explanation on instagram (a translation of his post is in the source quoted above).  Fat good it did though.
    That's outside his house.  Let that sink in for a bit.
  7. In a sports bar right now, having dinner whilst watching the 'live' broadcast of the PSV vs Groningen game. PSV are the overwhelming favourites, so even if they do win, the paltry winnings wouldn't even cover the cost of my dinner.
    The thing is, though, that the referee is incredibly biased towards the home team. Every 50/50 decision seems to go PSV's way. Free kick after free kick. Then a Groningen player received a second yellow (=red) card for... ?*what? I can't even tell. When that didn't work, PSV was awarded a soft penalty... which was saved. And all of that in just the first half.
    The second half sees wave after wave of PSV attacks, with no end result just yet. As I'm typing this now on my mobile phone, we've hit the 80-minute mark, Groningen is hanging on by its fingertips, its 10 men defending for their lives, and the game remains scoreless. It seems everyone here is now rooting for Groningen to hold on for a well-deserved draw. I can't name a single away team player, and I'll lose my bet if PSV doesn't win, but I really, really hope Groningen hangs on.
    Edit: Update: 5 minutes of extra time was increased to beyond 7 (lol)... but Groningen did managed to hang on to register a scoreless draw. Yay! (Poor me though ._. )
  8.
    Is it against the rules for an OP to maliciously quickly change the thread title/context so that users who already commented are baited into receiving lots of negs?
    There is no rule for that.
    Pretty sure that in the past, a precedent was set for disallowing that sort of behaviour. It's not in the rules but in this AAM thread. There were users who used to make threads saying something stupid or controversial. Then, when other users responded, the first user would edit the OP, so as to make the other users (who've responded earlier) look stupid. This happened a number of times; there was a troll who was particularly fond of doing it, and his actions 'inspired' copycats. The practice was stamped out by a mod who locked the threads and gave notice that users engaging in similar conduct in future would get warning points.
    Please check and clarify whether that is still the case.
  9. Not questioning his balls, but the wisdom of his action.  And yes, I've heard those rumours about Schweinsteiger being LVG's pet.  But it's not so much the particular individual players affected that prompted this, but the pattern I'm seeing... that déjà vu feeling I'm getting.
    And because I'm far from being Mourinho's number 1 fan (I think he's a prick; good manager, excellent even, but still a prick), I was wondering if I'm looking at the situation through blinkered eyes because of that or whether there's more to it.
  10. Rostov will surprise a lot of people. Really not a shock to see them overcome Anderlecht and Ajax to get this far.
    If only you had posted that a couple of days earlier... before I put my rent money on Ajax overcoming Rostov in the second leg of their qualifying round match-up... :cry:
    ~~~~~

    What do you guys think about the World Cup winning captain Schweinsteiger being exiled from the Man Utd squad?  He may be perennially injured last season but he's fit now; seems rather a waste.  Me thinks it's reminiscent of Casillas' treatment at Madrid...

  11. Just watched the live broadcast of Sojung's performance in episode 1 of JTBC's Girls' Spirit (http://onehallyu.com/topic/363771-watch-live-jtbc-girl-spirit-ep1/).

    She did well (as expected :datass:), but I got a little worried when watching the performance because of the edits (they kept flashing "...") and the puzzled(?) expressions of the judges.  The two contestants(?) who sang before her also looked... displeased for some reason.  Didn't help that I didn't understand a word of what the judges were saying afterwards.

    So when her score was flashed on the board and it became apparent she got the highest score so far... whew! :dave:

    Edit: The performance video is out!

    And she came in second overall. Congrats, Sojung!  :la:

  12. Guys, grab your popcorn, then go google the details of José Mourinho's first Man Utd press con.

    LVG got shaded for his 'philosophy', Arsene skewered for being trophyless for 10 years, Moyes got hit, and Giggs slimed for wanting his (i.e. Mourinho's) job.  Mikhitaryan's (sp?) a done deal, Pogba's return's hinted, and Rooney will no longer have a place in midfield... The guy gives good copy; no wonder the English press loves him so.

    Wouldn't want him anywhere near the club I support, but I've got to admit that he's an asset to the EPL.  For one thing, his press conferences are usually bloody entertaining... especially after his team loses and he has a pissy fit!  :lol:
