I read the first book of the Song of Lionness series when I was in high school, but haven't read past the first book. Maybe I should pick up on it again.

 

I really enjoyed the series. Considering how long ago the series was written it shows it's age in some things, but all and all it was a solid working for a heroine back in the 80s. the books themselves are short, think only about 300 pg. each.. I sometimes go back and read it whenever I want to feel nostalgia of it. 

 

Am working my way through the WoT again and just made it to book 3, all i can say is i love my bby nynaeve and how in ever gods did I read this and manage to keep up with everyone in it?? 

didn't even recognize jidam until she started rapping that voice just doesn't match her face lmfao

 

so far i've enjoyed Giant Pink the best, Miryo is bae as usual....

 

watching for more of Nada and Grace though, they had me intrigued

can anyone recommend me some good fantasy series with a strong heroine and doesn't focus on romance too much? And with excellent writing, too. I don't want to read books with Twilight/Eragon style of writing.

honestly the that fits this the best is Song of Lioness series.. not sure you've read or not. hmm the other one I can recommend is Sabriel. Both are more YA, if you want more adult there is Mists of Avalon (this was ok, not my fav though)

 

there's quite a few more out there but it's a bit early for me to remember them lol 

Honestly, if there is a call for a wild card round I feel like only badge holders should be allowed to vote in that round. None of that allowing someone who doesn't have the badge and probably in the end won't even get it to vote. 

 

Since half the time the wild card ends up worse then the final voted badge.

Started to read Latro in the Mist by Gene Wolfe and I LOVE it. Historical fiction with a really wonderful twist of lore, Latro himself and how he interacts with the world and gods around me has hooked.

 

it's not really a page turning book though, there are times where I get overwhelmed with it. 

I am literally disgusted that someone would refer to rape as "20 minutes of getting action". I wonder how the dad would feel if his son got brutally raped. Would he still consider that as getting action? Would his friends still play it off as no big deal? Why isn't there more outrage over this? My heart goes out to the girl. You can literally get away with anything if you have money and that fucking disgusts me

money, on top of you can get away with anything as long as you are a white boy with a bright career in sports.

lol I think I was reading a response of his on goodreads saying that he would not be releasing the book till he feels satisfied with it and something like he is only 70% satisfied with what he has written so far.  This is understandable but at the same time he's been at it for years, to me it feels like he bit off more than he can chew and is now kind of stuck as to how to finish it all off in the 3rd book.  There are so many unanswered questions that I can't see it being concluded in the third book without it feeling like its going to be rushed, at least not with the pacing that story has taken so far....R.I.P. Kvothe, you were one hell of a protagonist though your hormonal urges annoyed me, I don't think I'll ever see a day three to your tale...

I had the urge to re-read my WoT last year and stopped at book 4...I think i should pick that up again soon too

there's no way he can end it in 3 books. Mostly he spent almost all of WMF in the damn forest lol and arguing with Denna, but whatever not my call lmao. Will read it whenever it comes out otherwise can't say I will anticipate it any longer with Rothfuss's attitude towards it. 

 

Will try to finish out the Dragon Age novels before I restart anything. I started with the Stolen Throne which was a fly by read and am currently on Asunder. All quick reads, but it's to be expected out of a gaming novel lol

I feel you ...I feel like I should have read about the series before picking up the books at the book store but they were staring at me for some time ....and now I am stuck waiting, and meanwhile Lionsgate has the rights to do virtually everything they want...tv series...movies...video games...and we still don't know how it truly ends.

 

New GoT I tell you

There's been no update about The Stone Doors since the beginning of last year, which I mean is a bit normal in terms of the literary world. It's more that I'm frustrated with Rothfuss himself, at times I feel like he is super salty.. like his fans asking him about book 3 is just absolutely off limits.

 

I'm not asking the man to give a date and time of a release, I more so want a "it's not done, and I'm sorry but I don't know when it will be." Instead of his ass sulking whenever one of the crazies throw shade at him.

 

GRRM, to my knowledge, hasn't ever been as arrogant or childishly standoffish about how is books are coming. Even with all the blacklash that's been thrown at him with the seasons of GoT catching up to the books and now surpassing it. He's been pretty forth coming in his progress with Winds of Winter, which is yeah no he's not nearly finished and probably won't be for a while. 

 

 

At this point I'm ready to revisit old fantasy series just for the sake of it being so hard to find something worth the time and interest. 

Malazan? WoT? The Farseer trilogy?  yeah by the time I finish re-reading those maybe someone will release something lol.

officially gave up on the author of the kingkiller chronicle series ever releasing the 3rd book. Or at least, if he does, he's going to be a pouty little child about it.
