bottom, this is kinda random but your sig kept syncing with Bobby's track as I was playing it. Needless to say, it was quite the strange listening experience ahaha. Are the SMTM tracks studio recordings? Anyways, I feel bad for saying this, but does anyone else think that Vasco's track is just really... bad? I actually really like the original, so idk what happened here. It feels like the backing track lost the pulse that the original had and just kinda keeps plodding and plodding along for like four minutes. And I know that everyone and their mom keeps talking about how he's doing too much rock, but it seriously became apparent in this one for me. I'm also kind of bored with his flow. DX Maybe it's one of those songs I'll be able to appreciate more once I get lyrics, but for now, sorz Vasco. Bobby on the other hand... yes. Compared to Vasco's, I appreciate how it feels like it's actually going somewhere. I really like his flow, his tone/style has a lot of personality (Vasco felt kinda dead to me in comparison), blah blah blah repeat same things I always say whenever I listen to Bobby blah blah blah [edit] final note - forgot to pray that the lyrics don't translate to anything really stupid hahahohohoajaaha

HAHAHAHAHA omg I haven't really listened to the vocalists that closely tbh but my impression is that if he develops it more, Jinhwan could have a very smooth upper r&b kinda voice. It'd be a good complement to junhoe's richer, meatier tone and I just don't wanna see my bobby/bi/Jinhwan ot3 broken TT___TT

But Bobby doesn't have the weight of being the group leader or being hailed as "the next G.D.". Although Bobby has an incredibly strong presence on the team, at the end of the day, B.I is still the face of Team B and any mistakes on his part are going to weigh more heavily on the group's perceived capabilities than Bobby's. B.I has less room for failure. The format of M&M hasn't been revealed yet, but if it's anything like WIN, the poor boy's probably also being put through the ringer there too. I think it was G.D. who said that as leader, you have to work 2-3x as hard as all the members... B.I probs has to deal with not only his part in group performances, but making sure that the new trainees are up to speed, determining choreography and musical direction, all on top of managing a new group dynamic. PLUS he's such a good-hearted kid with such a strong sense of responsibility and high standards of quality for himself. and then on top of that I think of all the shit YG probs is giving him for his fuckups on SMTM and I'm all TT_____TT But yeah, I agree that SMTM is what he needed to separate himself from everything he's expected to be within YG because B.I. doesn't normally doesn't have the luxury of being weak or vulnerable (like before the final performance in the 2nd round of WIN). That's what I love about his "BE I" performance tho - for the first time, I really felt like I was hearing him rather than the cool idol B.I. And because he was forced to tear down his ego, from here on out I think the public will be more willing to see him as his own person and a flawed human being capable of growth. Also, awwwww Swings. omg he even tries to mimic Bobby's eye smile. I totally feel him, because I didn't know anything about double b but even I just wanted to protect them by like the third episode lolol. I didn't like him at first but Swings is actually kind of a giant softy who just happens to have a very blunt and honest way of speaking. What do you all think of Bobby's performance persona on SMTM tho? He always portrays himself as this cool guy/tough guy with a rather harsh lyrical style, but in all the bts WIN stuff he's actually very happy-go-lucky imo. Plus I heard that he's also a very devout Christian...? which makes all his "cut off your d***" stuff kinda hilarious. idk, I feel like we've seen the real B.I but with Bobby, I wonder if he's still overcompensating for his idol image.

S'ok, I gotchu gurl. In the name of 1llionaire and my ever pure Turn Up Prince Chamain, I humbly take upon myself the task of compiling all San-e laughs and Turn Ups, to be released upon the unfortunate close of this program. May peace be with you.

Thanks! :D Uhhh if by "a while" you mean like... eight days, then yes. Hahaha. After watching Show Me The Money 3 for a while (hi Double B), I decided to give WIN a chance last weekend and ended up binge watching the entire show + WINNER TV + the WIN DVD all in one weekend. It's like both the worst and the best time to fall into the fandom because within this one week alone, there's been the whole B.I. redemption on SMTM, WINNER's debut, and apparently the YG Family concert this weekend right as school is starting up for me again. -_______- I just wanna say though that while I have a soft spot for both teams, Winner always stood out to me as the better musicians. Taking their time to find their sound before debuting has to be one of the best decisions YG made for them because the difference in the maturity and cohesion in their sound pre-debut vs now really shows... but at the same time, I feel like I don't have a right to talk considering how long the rest of y'all have been waiting. XD and gatdamn, I can't believe Mino's younger than me *________* dat voice.
-
hi i'm new here but Color ring omg yaaaaas. Mino's voice yaaaaas. 2:03-2:16 yaaaaas. The song does such a good job of combining everyone's musical styles and I'm so happy with how KSY and Taehyun are getting vocal parts that really complement their tone bc ngl, there were some less-than-flattering moments in WIN where the songs were just not working for them.
-
I think it's missing a stronger bridge too. (I think it's supposed to be KSY's part at 2:54?). The repetitiveness of the backing track and mellow 90's r&b feel it has going on works well for a piece that's predominantly rap, but if they wanted to adapt it to something more focused on vocals, it should add a bit more contrast somewhere in the melody to counteract some of the staticness. LUL don't get me wrong I really like the song too and harsh criticism is just how I express me loveeee OTL [edit] or if it's the kind of song where I need to understand the lyrics to get a full picture
-
So I get excited because "Empty" is up, but when I try to watch "Color Ring", I get a "this video is still processing" message. Hahahah but all that aside, def. adding this to my slow jamz study list. The song's atmosphere suits Winner's vocalist more imo one of the first times taehyun's voice doesn't make me wince but it's more mellow than what I would expect for an opening track. If this is what double b gifted Winner with, I wonder what kind of music Winner would give Team B in return. Maybe Taehyun can five them some experimental house stuff to play around with?
-
Thank you!!! ... omg how did i manage to miss an entire episode of the show. I thought it ended with them announcing the winner at the end of the final battle. i'm such a sad human being. -_____-

http://teambsubbingsquad.tumblr.com/post/90696995752/dvd-wins-epilogue-edition-dvd-the-100-days-journey Here you go! :D Full DVD as far I can tell. I was going crazy earlier this week because a lot of the cuts were taken down from YT for copyright. But after spending more time obsessively searching than I am willing to admit, behold the fruits of my labor hahaha. The only thing I haven't been able to track down are behind-the-scenes/backstage clips of after the final performance. I've seen gif sets where Team B's family greets them after the show, but idk where the video is coming from. Can anyone help out a br0?

I wouldn't trust YG with Olltii tho. Even if it was a solid hip-hop group, Olltii would probs have to deal with bad scheduling and long gaps/delays between releases. Not that YG would be trying to lock in him a dungeon or whatever, but I just feel like YG has way too much on his plate to micromanage right now and just wouldn't be able to pay Olltii attention he would deserve and that a smaller label would.

It's subbed pretty quickly actually. You can watch the raws through a live stream (Thurs, 11PM Korea GMT +9:00), and raws are usually uploaded by around 4-5 hours after airing over at http://hanbeat.com So far, the subs have all been released between Sunday and Weds after the episode airs, usually earlier rather than later. I think the Weds releases were because ijustwannarhyme was still getting a team together or in the case of ep5, just because the episode was so painful to watch lul. For me though, it's kinda fun watching the raws and comparing my perception of artists/judges/events once I can get to the subs haha, esp. regarding the performances.
-
oooh I agree. I noticed that in self camera thing in the win epilogue DVD, he always seemed so stressed and solemn and exhausted. :( he probs devotes more of his time writing stuff that's meant for the typical YG performance compared to very personal, honest tracks. that's why I'm so glad that he got the chance to explore that in smtm and hopefully it's something he'll be able to work on more as time goes on. [edit] fuq what do i do when I accidentally double post? hahah
-
ugh so I won't have a chance to watch the ep5 sub or the latest raw til like Saturday, but I did watch the B.I. cut. So basically, MNET's strategy --> make B.I. look as bad as possible ep5 so that you can make his comeback in the next episode as dramatic as you can. /facepalm Also, what episode is this from? lololol. It was on ijustwannarhyme's tumblr but I don't remember seeing that scene CHAMAIN = #TURNUPPRINCE ok???
-
ayyyyy bae(s). lul, I'm seeing a handful of familiar faces from the smtm3 thread /amused haha basically. WIN had all the components that I'm a sucker for: brotherhood, tales of personal growth, and ~the power of youth and chasing your dreams~. I mean I know the show's basically a massive marketing ploy, but ugh somehow I still managed to fall for it hook, line, and sinker OTL

fuuuuuuuqqqqq y'all so I found out about double b through SMTM3 and made the mistake of binge watching WIN (then Winner TV... then the epilogue DVD once I could track down subs online) all in the weekend before going back to school. I mean I had a soft spot for the boys before I watched the show but now omg I feel like people forget how young B.I. is, and considering he's probs artistically been sheltered in YG all his life, I wouldn't be surprised if it's his first time facing real animosity and people who want him to fail. Regardless of how deep or worldly of a thinker you are, it's more difficult to write more "real" lyrics when you're young simply because you don't have as many personal experiences, exposure to the harsh reality of the world (lul), or as deep of an awareness about your thoughts/self/flaws, and the fact that B.I. spent most of his teen years locking himself away in the YG dungeon interacting with a small set of people doesn't really help in that department. But after seeing this latest performance, SMTM is exactly what he needed in order to take that next step not just as an artist, but just as a teenager who's growing up and learning more about himself. IT'S LIKE I'M WATCHING MY LITTLE BROTHER GROW UP BEFORE MY EYES AND I JUST HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS TT_______TT man I thought I would be done with onehallyu once smtm3 is done but whoops looks like i'm sticking around for M&M now

HAHAHAH JVERS I LOVE YOU. To supplement your research, upon conclusion of this program, I propose to examine 1) the different circumstances and contexts under which "Turn Up" (defined as "getting loose, being wild and potentially engaging in sexual activity with members of the opposite gender")[1] been uttered and 2) it's efficacy in actually getting people to "Turn Up" . Sadly, due to limitations in program length, duration, and reliability in editing (hah), it will be difficult to extract significant numerical data (p-value <0.05). Through this observational study, we instead aim to gain better insight on what the subjects' perceived and actual ability to "Turn Up" reflects about the quality of program structure in SMTM3. --- AKA how often will "turn up" be nothing more than a naive wish on 1lli's behalf? hahah, as the show is entering the main showcase portion though, I have a fear that the number of "turn ups" are going to fade... :(
-
Things this show needs: 1) A running tally of how often the phrase "turn up" is uttered. 2) A gif compilation of every look of disgust, disbelief, or general "yikes" that comes across a producer's face, because that's all that I'm getting out of like 85% of these performances at this point. 1llionaire is quickly winning me over with their smileyness and ridiculousness. Like, Dok2 and the Q's matching Adidas tracksuits and chains? The team field trip to Jejudo, taking goofy pics with the statue and Bobby rubbing it's nose (lul), driving around the island in a jeep or whatev with the wind blowing in your hair. idk how old Toy is but it's like they're like the very definition of ~young and carefree~ excluding the quiett who's like 29 but shhh. I can't help but see them as a young hip-hop Breakfast Club. After the voting segment, they were revealing the rankings of the four teams and individual rappers, right? Cause it looks like even the producers know that the results right now are bullshit if you're judging by at actual skill. I feel like I'm beating a dead horse at this point but UGHHH WUBLO YOU HAD SO MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM. YOU HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL. And yet, you end up with this...

There's gonna be a full concert featuring all the producers in Sept, so now that I think about it, ~oh the possibilities~ in having them all have a chance to perform all their collabs. In terms of Tablo performing "Origin" though, he might have wanted to stay away from performing Epik High stuff without Mithra. A lot his solo stuff also needs a featuring vocalist or is probs a bit too melancholy for the concert lineup. "Origin" works well as a stand-alone piece and has a more straightforward hip-hop arrangement (plus it gives Tukutz a chance to join in!). Between him and Masta Wu, I liked how they had a pretty-well rounded song choice in terms of style (more mellow/deep stuff, something with a more aggressive feel, and more traditional hip-hop). And speaking of the old Map the Soul crew, Dumbfoundead's apparently watching Show Me The Money now. He gave a shoutout to Giriboy and Jolly V on twitter and now they're all following each other lolol.
-
Agreed! I think it would've worked better if for every 1:1, they had the option of voting both out and bring back another for a consolation match instead haha. (looks at Kisum's match >____>) I think Giri deserved to come back, but that other high school boy did better than B.I. imo. And I feel like there are probs others that also deserved a consolation round. I wonder if it was awkward that Tablo performed part of "Light It Up" with Dok2 sitting backstage lololol, esp considering how often he and GD perform it without him overseas.

Mnet has uploaded the full performances on YouTube, in case y'all didn't know! https://www.youtube.com/user/Mnet/search?query=%EC%87%BC%EB%AF%B8%EB%8D%94%EB%A8%B8%EB%8B%883 I can't decide if I like Swings as a person or not. His cockiness makes him seem kinda obnoxious (like how the other producers kinda side-eyed him when they were all introduced in ep1, or his "BOOYAH" when everyone kept choosing Swings as their fav rapper) but then he cried in the Giriboy 1:1. In the second round auditions, I also wasn't sure if he kept waiting til the last second to fail people to keep things exciting or dramatic or because he was genuinely torn about whether or not to keep them. Like, how much of this is a front or bad editing for the sake of the show? I didn't like YDG's use of dancers. On a show that's supposed to focus on individual skill as a rapper rather than performer, it feels really gimmicky. :| Also, this is kind of shallow but I was wtf-ing at what some of the producers (Blo an YDG, sry) were wearing...
-
I haven't really listened to Illionaire stuff beyond a handful of Dok2 songs tbh, so now I'm curious as to how well they'll mesh together (and yeah, how the producers reacted to it ahaha). In terms of agencies, I was thinking more about how Tablo pointed out that if Hanbin wanted guidance, he could just seek them out at Y.G., but you've got a good point with their styles.
-
Are we supposed to tag non-subbed episode discussion as spoilers? Haha. Anyways, Ep 3: Surprised that some of YDG's saves ended up doing well in the 1:1. It's entertaining to see how my perception of events in the raws matches up with the subs once they're released ahahah. Farmboy did seem kinda cocky in the 1:1, but I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and write it off as compensating for a bit of lingering insecurity because he seemed so genuine in the previous ep. I'm curious as to how well JiDam will be able to hold her own as the show progresses because while she is good delivering raps, I've been getting increasingly suspicious about her authenticity in both image and writing ability. Ep 4:
