  1. Yeahhhh I agree on that. With Junhoe, I think his biggest task is balancing times when the song calls for a lot of power and times where it's okay to back off. And yes, no matter how good you are, you can always gain from vocal lessons. ANY vocalist could benefit so much from having guest vocal trainers or attending a master class every now and then... the company obviously has the money/connections for it, so I hope somebody in YG has had the common sense to make it an actual thing (but from what I've heard, I doubt it cause YG himself doesn't know shit ha). ------ In other news, this pic is awwwww. Not used to seeing Junhoe do cutesy shit like getting piggy back rides, but maybe he was actually like "ha payback for my punishment game in the v-app, bitch".
  2. Are you talking about the scratchiness or over-all belting? I thought that his voice naturally has that huskiness to it, but in Apology he was forcing it. While he does have the most tiring parts and he needs to be careful that he doesn't over-use his voice, he's still splitting a lot of mic time with the other members so I'm not too worried about how his lines are more along the lines of belting. But idk idk, it seems like he's in a place where his still picking and choosing which habits to adopt so I think things could go either way in terms of his vocal habits. A reminder isn't a bad thing. Also, if it really is only yunhyeong, chanwoo, and donghyuk getting vocal lessons, that's weird. :/ I kinda assumed it was a company-wide thing cause some of the WINNER members have seemed to have improved a lot over their break too.
  3. omg yunhyeong badge is ouuuut *o* I feel like the members I notice the most during live perfs are always different from who everyone else is talking about lololol.... Jinhwan stood out to me the most, followed by Yunhyeong. The time off and chance to recover from his cold were exactly what Jinhwan needed, cause he was in really good shape for Apology. I think that he's one of the ppl who's improved most since M&M. The biggest issue with Yunhyeong is that his vocals are a bit inconsistent, but he was on point in this performance too. What Junhoe's doing for Apology isn't the healthiest (I keep thinking back to how he said that recording made his throat hurt ), but I'm not gonna freak out until we have more live performances to compare. From what I've seen, it's something he only does for this song, so hopefully he's gonna tone it down more in subsequent performances. Tbh, I think the song would sound fine if he sang more like he usually does.
  4. The dance mv is pretty and I like their styling. The fade in/out thing suited it well. This round is definitely a step-up aesthetic wise for them.
  5. +1 for jokes about BI's nose. I'll admit to laughing at them, but let's not give the poor guy any body image complexes. We already spread his embarrassing childhood pics and turn his ugly faces into memes and make fun of his fashion... Can we give him a small break? (We = fandom. It's not really a thing in this thread.)
  6. Too lazy to quote, but: CONGRATZ TO SNAPBACK AND WIFEY!!!!!! And lol @ your tmi comment. I actually left MrJKPop a well-thought out comment on his thread for the previous three iKON MV's and... he never replied, ha. :kanyeshrug: never seen his other vids, but some of his critiques were kind of surprising in an odd way. but hearing that he doesn't listen to a lot of hip hop and has a bubblegum/standard pop tests in music, it makes sense now. Hahah that's why I always take music critiques with a grain of salt. APOLOGY IS PERFECT FOR DRIVING IN THE RAIN I LOVE IT. And YG is such a player when it comes to Mnet hohoho. Tbh, even if iKON doesn't get pak or cak or any amazing end of the year awards (tho at this point, I'll be surprised if they don't), the fact that their singles are sitting around such well-known and respected artists is more than enough for me. Like it's cool if they win a lot of shit, but if they don't, they still have the rest of their career. IT'S AAAAAL ABOUT THE CLIIIIIIMB.
  7. Ohhh okay, I saw that thread. IA with what she said about Jinhwan (it's why chipmunk comments annoy me so much, sob) but I think people exaggerate how much Junhoe strains/screeches. It was at its worst during like, "Mercy" on M&M. He's making all the right changes, so as long as he continues on that track, I think he'll be fine. (but like I said, "apology" live will be something to look out for.) fyi i'm not really responding to anyone at this point... just throwing out some random thoughtszzz...
  8. Weirdly enough, seeing the amount of love and success that iKON is getting in Korea is making me super hyped for the WINNER comeback. I just really want to see both groups succeed and keep passing on that torch of YG chart topping and excellence in the same way that they passed on the Rookie of the Year award... And this is a late comment, but awwwww @ them at the MMAs. WINNER are like the mature older bros currently in their first year or two of working, and they're dropping by to give some advice to their college freshmen little brothers.
  9. oooh, what thread? the official vocals one or one of those random ones where half the people don't know what the shit they're talking about? I think the new coach is helping a lot. It was a while ago so I don't remember clearly, but I think that the teacher's insta or youtube had vids where he's explaining technique in terms of anatomy and directing air flow, whereas the old teacher would just give vague directions and noises and kind of encourage them to just push the sound out? I was always kinda confused by what he would try to accomplish in those lessons.. Since Junhoe's the type to stress and worry extensively over his performances, so I think he's trying to be careful in that regard. His approach to his falsettos/higher range sounds smoother and healthier, and he shows better control over power and his diff registers in "My Type". "Apology" is an interesting one tho because he went for the raw, throaty sound and he knew in the V-app game that it took a toll on his voice. I think how he approaches this next round of promotions will dictate the amount of worry I will have for him. It's also why I want him to become bros with the BtoB vocals. they're all applied music majors in university, so they could trade tips on technique and hopefully give Junhoe some non-YG trainer perspective. also, sungjae's voice is I think the advancement in their vocals is more apparent in their lives than in their recordings, strangely enough. I wonder how long ago the tracks for "Welcome Back" were recorded because you can hear their growth even in their debut concert. I agree, super excited to hear "Apology" live.
  10. wheeee just a heads up - the WINKON badge is now available
  11. @______@ so much news to catch up on LMFAOOOO That and this yunhyeong vine (forgot who posted it first) are killing me. RHYTHM TA ROCK VERSION WAS SO GOOD. I like it more than the original tbh. I think it'd be cool if they did something like this for an actual single. Idk how well it would hold up in streaming/radio play, but I'd enjoy it haha. And D: at B.I's neck injury... he seemed reserved when performing, and watching more carefully, it was like he was avoiding moving excessively. I also laughed at people talking about how iKON looks so hyped during reaction fancams because even with stuff like Bobby standing on a chair during Fantastic Baby, they're only showing like 30%. *flashback to WIN karaoke clip* *flashback to V app in Jeju* Looking forward to the R&B track soooooo much!!!!! I'm anticipating justice for vocal line. PLS DONT DISAPPOINT ME YG. Also glad that Yunhyeong is getting actor recognition. One of my quiet fears is that his acting potential/opportunities will be overshadowed by all the "Chanwoo is a child actor" media play. Quite a few anime references in the Anthem lyrics. It's funny how so many things that the guys are into seem to find their way into iKON tracks, haha. Like "Sinosijak", gorilla references, and B.I's Slam Dunk obsession frickin weebs. I wouldn't be surprised if they're keeping with the pants thing because they all watched Back to the Future together while they were brainstorming for the MV and just got reaaaally into it
  12. Chanwoo is the kid brother you love, but love to tease relentlessly even more. He's basically snatched B.I's weave as reigning team thot at this point.
  13. Yup yup. In retrospect, they would've been fine with having "My Type" as their debut and sole title track. Or even the M&M songs back in spring, before competition became a clusterfuck. The funny thing is that when you add in the delays, iKON's gap between releases is... More like a normal group... (I think) Not to mention jamming their schedule with fanmeets, cutting Korean promotions also bit YG in the ass because iKON was left with no buffer time to make changes, resulting in their delay. DOES YG NOT REALIZE THAT PERFECTIONISM IS A SELF-DESTRUCTIVE TRAIT.
  14. ?!?!?!?!!!?!!?! l don't wanna be mean but... Let's just say that their stage outfits can be very hit or miss.......
  15. All I can say is .... lol This is why I've given up on counting down to any of YG'S release dates.... Welp hopefully the full album delay ties into recording more recent songs or re-recording vocals. "Rhythm Ta" was written like a year ago. "Winnin" and "Rhythm Ta" were also written a year apart, and BI's said that the newer songs are even better, so as long as the end result pays off, I'll be satisfied.
  16. craw, I think that ahbo, you, and I should start our own clique: the people in the bg quietly anticipating the next drag session Btw I'm cackling over these last few pages.
