For the Korean military it's a mental illness, which prevents one from being drafted. Korea doesn't allow conscientious objection, a lot of jobs require the completion of military service, and not going carries a huge social stigma.

So it'd be like: "Ah sorry no, we can't accept you since you're mentally ill... And now basically everyone is going to hate you cause you're gay AND you didn't complete your military service. Good luck with your life."

It's unbelievable that the military still considers homosexuality a mental illness. There must be people/organizations fighting against this kind of discrimination, surely...?

 

I'm not sure about now, but in the past they would often get rejected due to "mental illness".

And if he comes out before going to the military, does that mean they won't accept him? I'm not too sure what the military's stance on homosexual soldiers is, but I wouldn't be too surprised if they didn't accept openly gay men...

Ah, was it when the fan asked Zelo "is it true that Youngjae kisses you?" Their reaction was kinda okay though? Well I mean Youngjae refused to re-enact but Zelo explained calmly and the other members didn't seem that embarrassed imo (though Daehyun acted like he was throwing up if I remember correctly?)

However I totally agree with you that certain remarks that idols make can be really ignorant and it kinda proves that they're not always comfortable with homosexuality, especially when guys are asked to hold hands or act intimate.

I'm like you, I try to carefully watch their reactions in these situations~

 

By the way, I really don't understand what do interviewers expect when they ask male idols about their gay rumours.

Could be because they're told to ask the idols about their gay rumors so that they can get a chance to deny it?

Because if the idols themselves deny the rumors, fangirls will believe it and their reputation will be intact.

Yes and a lot of people seem to think he's weird, probably because he doesn't talk a lot and doesn't always show his emotions.. I also find him "cold", but colder towards women than men. Actually he may not be interested in both at all.

If you mean their hypothetical relationship, it's a part of that, but not the basis. Even if Kik didn't behave like a smitten schoolgirl around Woon, he'd be suspicious to me. Dongwoon, however, is one I'm sure about. Or at least was when I was watching him intently. No idea why.

This is SO interesting to me because I never saw it.. I only heard about their ship recently and didn't think much of Kikwang's reactions to Dongwoon before. I started observing his behavior around girls a bit and I don't really know what to think, he doesn't seem very interested but it's not like they leave him indifferent..

It seems to me this might be damage control. Too many people openly think he's gay after the last album, so now he's singing about girls. Son, I am disappoint.

Yeah, it's curious that he only now decides to talk about his past relationships with women.. He used to be vague when writing songs, not specifying the genders etc, so it's definitely surprising that he does now.

Though in most other songs off his album genders aren't specified I think? But I'm not surprised that he talks about a girl, just that it's so sudden... It can very well be damage control like you said..
