They have to, their popularity already took a hit after Fingertip's underperformance and Love Whisper is here to repair some of the damage and has so far done its job pretty decently, a repack in September with a concept like Rough could smash cause then we won't have EXO, SMTM and all the recent released smash hits like Heize and etc, and it'll be before TWICE's full album in October so GFriend can have the attention solely on them

They don't get to choose that, Source does, that's why they're delivering a Me Gustas Tu-ish comeback again after Fingertip's major underperformance which is actually great, it's the right move right now for GFriend

That's just not realistic. You may be satisfied with that but is Source satisfied? They're an idol group, this is not them releasing music, it's Source putting music out to bring profit. They have to do well on the charts otherwise they're not doing what they're supposed to do which is to sell and make Source money. You guys must remember the music industry is first and foremost an industry.

Yeah, a lot of upbeat songs do well but mostly they don't cause Korea isn't really into EDM and stuff. And the song is part of the concept, I mean, I can't really see them having an innocent concept during Fingertip era so yeah, both song and concept didn't click with public. I think if they released Navillera today after Fingertip's underperformance it wouldn't cross 1 million downloads.

Honestly it's just not what Korea is into, I mean, it did really well but it wasn't a SMASH, just a moderate hit. It did well because it was coming off Rough hype so anything they released at that time would've done well. The song is a major bop and I love it but they cannot release another upbeat song after Fingertip underperformed severely. I mean, it'll cross 600k when all is said and done hopefully, a just ok hit, but still a big underperformance for GFriend standards. This next single has to skyrocket their popularity and brand power again, we need them to be the biggest group out to the Korean public eye as they were during MGT > Rough > Navillera, so we need a smash hit single right now. How I'd plan this comeback cycle: First: - Choose a really public friendly song with full Korean lyrics (something GFriend has been praised for) and very relatable lyrics as well, something anyone and people with all ages can all enjoy. Great instrumental is a must! They must stick to guitar, drums, violin. NO upbeat beats. We need a strong and great chorus too. Basically we need Me Gustas Too 2.0. and hope it clicks with the GP. - Get back together with their old choreographer (GB/MGT/R) and deliver a powerful choreography (something GFriend has also been praised for but we KNOW their choreo for Navi/Fingertip wasn't as complimented), so that's that on that. We need a signature iconic move as we had in GB/MGT/R too. - Outdoor MV. A must. Fingertip bombed on YouTube and we need this next MV to reach at least 30M views again. Great outdoor shots and locations is also something GFriend has been praised for. - Deliver top notch quality B-side songs. Not hard for them - 2/3 versions of the album with great packaging and goods. Give buddies something worth their money. Also not hard for them Second: - Before dropping the teasers, Source needs to hype this comeback, go back to their old tactics of media play that worked for GFriend in their beginning. But not in a way that pits GFriend against their competitors, they have to forget the competition and put out articles about how GFriend is a group full of charms, about their past hits and powerful innocent concept, powerful choreo and songs. They need the GP to forget that Fingertip ever existed! - Mediaplay Yerin on Law of the Jungle and hopefully something we'll get viral. But that's not that important imo. She's already popular and has a good image with the GP, we just need that to stay the way it is. Third: - Teasers. Release a teasers schedule at least two weeks prior to the song release date. Tease, tease and tease. Pictures everyday for a whole week and then comeback teaser, MV teaser 1 and 2. They could even make a comeback teaser video for each of the girls. Get these teasers to the front page of Naver everyday. Media play. Stick with the schedule. - Interviews and editorials for news outlets during the teasers weeks. Get Dispatch to follow them through their comeback preparations and release a special editorial during comeback week. Feature it on Naver's main page. - Get partner brands for this comeback. Get their song playing on their CFs background. Hosigi, Smart, and whatever brands they're endorsing right now. Get these ads running on the brands' social medias, Facebook, twitter, Instagram, whatever apps are popular in South Korea. Line stickers as well. - Get a a deal with a popular franchise (Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts etc) and have them play GFriend's song every hour in their stores nationwide. Also their past hits. Get billboards and ads everywhere in Seoul and other big cities, specially in malls and in popular districts like Hongdae and Apgujeong. Basically get them everywhere Fourth: - MelOn x V Live Comeback Special for the fans. 1 hour prior to the release of the song / MV. Interact with buddies, play some games, go through teasers and MV teasers again, talk about the comeback and concept etc. Watch the video with the audience when it's released. - NAVER x V Live Comeback Showcase for fans and media outlets 2 hours after song release. Get this featured on the main page of Naver. Release articles about GFriend's comeback, highlighting the dance moves, the music video locations, the song lyrics and the song itself etc. Do not pit them against their competitors. Let the media do their job. - Pre-recorded comeback stage on The Show. Attend every single music show possible and also some morning news shows during the week. Give interviews. Radio shows. Variety shows. Get the song to play on a popular drama. Continue to release articles on Naver. - Get Buddies and other Kpop fans to make dance covers of the song by releasing a Dance Cover Challenge with some prizes. - Set a goal for YouTube views in a week and release a special video if the goal is reached. Not too high since we need a reasonable goal so buddies can feel encouraged to surpass it by a lot. 5 million views is fine. Then set new goals for 10M and 15M without deadlines, and release new special videos once the views are reached. - Fansigns in Seoul. At least one per day during the release week. Get them more active on V-Live during their release week activities and on social media as a whole. This is basically what I'd plan their teasing + comeback week to be like were I their CEO but I'm not so, let's hope whatever SoMu is planning works.

This comeback has to be a major hit, I hope they're planning everything very carefully. No more upbeat songs like Fingertip/Navillera, I need the GB/MGT/Rough sound to make a comeback and their powerful innocent image as well. They have to stick with what sells and works for them. I hope their Japan Debut has been postponed until they find a Japanese label that can provide great promo for them and generate hype around them pre-Debut.
