It uses 3-d cell shading for everything so the mechas and everything else is designed really nicely.  Though perhaps the character design might need some time getting used to.

Animation is okay.

Story is good with lots of character development around the main character Nagate.  It also has a lot of action in it

It's about giant tentacle intelligent monsters called Gauna trying to destroy a spaceship called the sidonia that fled the earth after the gauna destroyed the earth.  So sidonia made these machine call Gardes which use some thing called the kabizashi to destroy gauna.

The science and physics of the show is pretty good and consistent

 

There will most likely be a second season but the manga is more ahead of the anime.

Thanks for the summary, character development is the main trait I look for in good anime. I was going to read the manga but I'm much more interested in the anime if there's so much colossal action and interesting designs considering it would be much more enticing. I googled some images of the anime just for an idea and it seems easy enough to conform, I managed with Attack on Titan so I'll just go for it! 

Knights of sidonia is really good. and i mean really good.  please watch or read.

I concur with and fully believe they will do more than one promotion track, especially with this mediaplay about production participation. Maybe they can do another system similar to AKMU where YG can choose one song, the boys can choose one song and the public can choose the final? Anything will due for me as long as there is more than one M/V. 

Being an idol group already sets up the foundation for visuals, people should really be concerned about YGE integrating capable (or even powerful) and dynamic vocalists.

Has anybody watched/read Knights of Sidonia? I'm intrigued after reading a summary on a Spring recommendation but I've gathered some very polarizing reviews. 

I'll be following the show and hoping YG can debut a more worthy unit. 

I think K-pop sucks for the most part but I have found a few solid artists within YGE so I'm going to be lurking here (among other threads) and hopefully stan somebody fresh on the scene.
