I watched half of the video and was completely put off on how skewed their vision of what homosexuality is. They clearly pick and choose the people who describe homosexuality. The most nonsensical thing they pushed in the documentary was that homosexuality is some kind of 'addiction'. I went through hating myself for being gay but it never felt like an addiction. The people they showed in that documentary are among the saddest, broken individuals I've ever seen. Just hearing them speak and seeing their face tells you how deeply broken they are. It's like looking at someone in an extremely abusive relationship with the abusive partner telling the abused person that they love them and care about how they are and the abused person believing it all.

In regards to Thailand, they're not that accepting. Thailand is marketed as a gay friendly travel destination, but the general public is not very tolerant towards gay Thais. The most gay friendly countries in Asia are probably Taiwan and Japan. EDIT: I asked my Korean (male) friends their opinion on homosexuality and how it is seen in Korea because I just decided to rip it off like a band-aid, and they all said they didn't care if someone is or not, they just didn't want a guy to be in love/have a crush on him. I think this is something lost in most translations when people translate what they're saying. I had a Japanese friend who said he didn't care if someone is gay too, he just didn't want them to 'approach' him. I asked him what he meant like that and it turned out he actually meant he didn't want to be flirted with by another guy (which is understandable).

I've considered getting that book, but I've heard that it doesn't teach the actual meaning of the kanji and doesn't make your mind associate it with Japanese words, but some kind of story.   I'm mostly considering getting The Kodansha, which looks promising.

Is there a good resource (especially a book) on learning the kanji by their radicals instead of stroke order?

  I have both as well but I have to mainly use my old version of Safari on this ancient Macbook until I can get a newer computer because Safari is the only browser that runs fast enough for me.   The songs are quite good. They were a little different than what I was expecting, but in a good way. A lot more acoustic and guitar elements than what I'm used to in a Miliyah Kato song. 

Yeah, that's really unfortunate. It's really annoying too, because it was such a brave role for him to take on, especially in the position he is in. That sounds really cynical, but I can understand given all the gay-baiting and no-homo that's permeated throughout kpop.

I think it might be a little of both, in a way. I hope SM sees this in a way to where they can be slightly more 'show-y' of gay themes or concepts without explicitly doing so. In a way, they could be paving the way. That sounds super idealistic, but I think it could be possible.
