I haven't posted here in such a long time, so I don't know if anyone recognizes me.

When I first got into k-pop, a friend sent me a video of SHINee's song Colorful. Jonghyun was instantly my favourite and the whole reason I got into it in the first place.

I've gone through several groups and biases in the past, but Jonghyun always seemed to remain a constant for me. His personality and that unique and fierce face of his and his one of a kind voice stood out too much for me. I bought his first album when it came out too. I remember being so happy for him.

I've not been into k-pop for a while now, but I always have had a special place in my heart for him.

Just about a half an hour ago, I was reading through some music articles about some bands and happened to scroll down to the bottom with recent articles and read that Jonhyun had passed away due to a possible suicide.

My heart stopped completely. Right now, I'm just confused. I feel a massive loss, but the confusion overrides everything.  It's hard to believe.

Jonghyun, I hope your soul is at peace now. Thank you for everything you've done for us and brought. You are an important part of many people's lives.

After going through a bunch of game of the year coverage and stuff, i was surprised to hear Let It Die being brought up multiple times for best soundtrack categories. Japanese games with orchestral music is kinda normal for those types of discussions but this is a game with 100+ japanese bands on the OST. Songs from different subgenres of rock with english and japanese vocals are on it. It's cool to see people in twitch chat hearing the songs and asking about the music too instead of just calling it weeb shit like they normally do.

It's really frustrating because none of my Japanese friends know many kpop groups at all. The only ones most of them were aware of were old groups like KARA, T-ARA, BIGBANG and SNSD. The only groups that actually had some amount of relevancy.

Yeah. Imagine them being fans of MAN WITH A MISSION or worse, GReeeeN. Except for a few who probably have an eclectic taste like me.

I tried getting into MAN WITH A MISSION but the raps in their music killed it for me 

Hi and welcome to the thread ;) if you enjoy their band songs the most then JUKEBOX is the best album for you , there are also great band songs in the Genki ga deru CD   in fact they have band song in all of their albums , every album have 2 or 3 great band songs so check all their discography, I'm sure you won't regret it

Can anyone recommend me some Kanjani songs or albums? I recently listened to Noroshi and Panorama and and liked some of the songs on them. I really like more rock-oriented songs (which is pretty much their genre).

I think the problem with the jpop recommendation threads is that they're expecting to find something like kpop, which doesn't really exist in jpop (aside for some EXILE & co tracks).

I'm currently reading Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. It's a great book and he's a great author. It's making a rather large impression on my mind.

I hear this type of vocal style so often from many of the anime I used to watch. Was it only an anime thing or did that particular only exist in the 90s?
