  6. Holy shit. And how long has the Makestar been going on for?
  7. Why does Yezi look so bae here? She needs to wear stuff like this more often because I'm in love!
  8. I'd argue that Dreamcatcher takes inspiration from Babymetal's pop-metal fusion, but has their own distinct concept and sound. Dreamcatcher's sound is more strictly a metal song that follows the Kpop song formula. And Dreamcatcher's concept is strictly horror, Babymetal's concept isn't really horror. It shows the difference between taking inspiration from a group and stealing their concept.
  9. Ooooh! These photos: are giving me ideas.
  10. Yes! I'm glad they didn't just win on The Show, it shows that they are still going strong... that, and some people don't consider The Show wins as legitimate.
  11. To be frank, I don't think lack of musical diversity is going to be the death of Kpop and Jpop. From a financial perspective, it's wise to follow a trend rather than try to stray away from them because the concepts are tried-and-true. Companies know those concepts appeal to people, so they keep using it until the people grow tired of it. This doesn't mean groups can't use a new or uncommon concept and become successful, that's called appealing to a niche. 2NE1 and Babymetal are great examples of groups that appeal to niches and are successful because of it. I'm not sure about other countries, but remember that the American and Japanese music industries are two of the best-selling music industries, with Korea recently cracking the top 10. Three things appeal to Americans: Vocal powerhouse concepts (Think Mamamoo and SPICA's appeal) and hip-hop/hip-hop-inspired sexy concepts. Two things appeal to the Japanese: Cute concepts, and sexy concepts. All countries have the concepts that work for them and music companies that know and capitalize on these trends. I'd simply argue that American concepts aren't so clear cut because we don't exactly have groups, and artists really only perform on concerts and music award shows, so artists don't get much opportunity to strongly define concepts or really have them.
