hot take: utada's voice is the worst thing about her music
Well damn

It's interesting having lived in Korea for a year and half, getting accustomed to society there, and then coming to Japan and experiencing things here.
I feel short in Korea, but tall in Japan. Koreans pay way more attention to foreigners than the Japanese do. I feel like an attraction in Korea, but Japan is like "whatever" about me. I also feel like I cater more to Korea's standards of beauty than Japan's.
The subway system here is insane. It took me three days to get it down. Korea's is much easier. Japanese guys have no butts. At all. Half of the Korean guys have butts... One thing the two countries do have in common is that they assume you speak the language fluently if you can say one tiny thing correctly. I had to translate for my friend at a restaurant when the waitress was asking something, and I didn't even understand? But it worked? God.Been in Tokyo since Thursday and will be heading to Osaka tomorrow, woo~
Glad you're enjoying the trip!
I was so happy to finally be able to reach the rings on the trains in Japan lol. They're too high up for me in Canada, but in Japan it was perfect. Hope you like Osaka! It's very different (appearance wise) from Tokyo. I was pleasantly surprised.

The lyrics to this song are silly but so relatable.lmao
Glad to see Miyabi singing again ;A;
Uh... I hope not.lmao Aiba was cute, but...we dont need the rest. I'm getting tired of seeing Arashi hamming it up everywhere. Give someone else a chance...
Agreed.
Unless it's Nino. But Nino's style isn't suitable for kouhaku bless him.
Suda Masaki? *_*

Loved Japan!! Have fun :D Osaka is cool!Looking at the amount of money I'm going to spend for my vacay in Japan like

Good thing I'm loaded. My friend and I are considering spending three days in Osaka, but it hasn't been solidified yet. I'll be in Japan in less than a week!

Not surprised about the shows... does this include variety shows too?

Translation:
"It's about time I tell the truth!
When I was interviewed by Music Station, I was asked, "Who is the artist you received influence from?", I answered "Shokotan (Nakagawa Shoko)!" and then they said "I'm going to retake it so say 'Kyary Pamyu Pamyu'" and I had to retake it lol.
And that's the one that aired lol"
I guess music station's interviews can't be trusted either.
SO WHAT IS THE TRUTH?
But man, that's hilarious and kinda sad.

Apple Music has free trials, right?
3 months.

Feels like this can be made a thread at the Random section, but I'll ask J-music fans here first:
Let's say that you have a Line Music subscription where you only have to pay 960 yen for unlimited streaming (if you're a student you'll only pay 480 yen) for one month, are you the type to:
a. Stream as many songs as you can
b. Stream only the songs you like as many times as you like
c. Stream only a song (or a few songs) from only the artists you like
d. Stream the hell out of that one (or a couple) of song(s) so that they will chart
e. Other type (what?)
Remember that it's unlimited streaming. As for me I'd probably take advantage of it (it's only 960 yen per month!) so I'll go with A.
Edit: Oops sorry for double post!
I have Apple Music, so A

Welp, just caught up with this thread since I disappeared two weeks ago. Looks like I missed all that TWICE drama in the J-section. I thought it was 2011 all over again.
Also just came back from the Korean Hip-Hip concert I mentioned earlier. If anyone's interested in the deets, I'll keep it in the spoilers.
Well, my sister and I managed to arrive there but the turnout was a little lower than a typical idol concert which is understandable since they're not the most internationally friendly acts.
The opening presenter to my surprise was Kevin from the now defunct group Z:EA, it looked like he was on hard times since he's reduced to hosting Australian K-pop events.
In order of appearance we were treated to Ravi (VIXX), he performed a couple of songs from his solo and an unreleased mixtape, I personally didn't know his songs but kudos for the moxie he displayed.
Second was Heize who was my favourite of the bunch since I've known her since her stint in Unpretty Rapstar. Who knew that she was the one to attain mainstream success in Korea? Anyways she mainly performed her singles. Notably she performed live for the first time her new single "Don't Know You", I personally loved it and her MCs were cute, so I'm a converted fan here.
Third was Zion T. Just like Heize, mainly performed his big hits like Yanghwa Bridge, The Song, See Through etc... he's a lot personable on stage even his english wasn't the best.
Fourth was Loco who performed his backlog discography like "Awesome" and "Respect", they're were a couple of more I didn't recognise but I've come to appreciate his flow and his ability to ride the beat, definitely worthy of a SMTM winner title.
Last was Jay Park who was by far the most popular act of the night, the fangirls was very extra when he came on. He mainly performed his recent (think 2015-present) songs. Joah and Mommae were particular crowd favourites, especially the latter since he shameless rips his shirt for the finale.
All in all it was enjoyable, even coming in as a very casual fan who only attended because his sister needed to be chaperoned. I'm definitely putting all those acts in my radar (except for Ravi, his material were lackluster).
In J-pop related news, I'm digging Suchmos' new single. Both OVERSTAND and WIPER are understated gems. Looks like SNO is going for the Mr.Children sound with RAIN, I'm ambivalent about this change in sound. I personally don't think it fits them, but hey I guess it fits the brief of a soundtrack for a whimsical anime film.
You're such a nice brother! Glad you had fun

for me I've gone to Chinese pop. They're getting better and their dramas are sucking me in. But from time to time I do check out musics of Jpop and Kpop. Twice' TT's good but thats the only thing I like from them and Lisa's BP. BB's canceled for me. Might start stanning BTS since some of my friends like them. As for Jpop, Johnny's Hey Say Jump pulls me in because of their show Itadaki High Jump. Reminds me of Kattun (hope they don't end up like them! T_T)
Sent from my iPhone using OneHallyu mobile app
I've been really liking LOONA's stuff too. I've dabbled a little bit in Cpop.
I'm just too lazy atm to go and find new songs to listen to.
Daichi still is my favourite Jpop album this year tho
-
While i'm at it, what have you guys been using to listen to music since jpopsuki died?
tbh YT and if im lucky, Apple Music. Arama too.

I agree. It's been very long time since I came here again. I haven't been a Jpop fan much.

I was in the oricon thread and saw people posting about them there and now here and they both just sound like names of off brand chewing gum.
I can't believe that after waiting a year for new music, DAI releases a song with the lyrics "the price of education breaks my body"

LMAO!!
What was that song about?
-
That thread is an utter trainwreck
-
Is that like a streaming version of itunes?
Yep ! I love it. I also have an iPhone so listening between devices is great.
-
I should really start streaming. I've never done it before I always just downloaded it. I think part of me wonders how my money would go if I streamed a song a few times vs. downloaded it.
I went Apple Music and I'm never looking back.
-
IT'S BEAUTIFUL!What do the Jpop elite of 1H think of it?
I really think he did that. This and Sayonara Hitori are stand out songs compared to other original Jpop songs by Kpop acts.
He's honestly putting out songs better than some of my Jpop faves *cougharashicough*
