Hey, I've been stanning Ateez for a while now, but I'm new to this thread. I thought I wasn't able to properly stan anyone other than Taeyeon and SHINee, but then Ateez suddenly happened after like 7 years. It's been a long time since I was active on OH, but after going to their fansign on Sunday I desperately need somewhere to share my feelings. Let me tell you they are the nicest people and even though I was nervous af they all made me feel so comfortable. Also, I walked into the fansign without really having a fixed bias, and walked out again being 100% Hongjoong biased. He's the absolute sweetest and made me pinky promise to love them forever 

My ranking is the same as yours except I like Something New a little more xD

 

I was so distracted by the MV that I had to switch tabs to listen to the song haha. Always excited whenever Taeyeon releases new music. Something New is the first title song I like the most over the b-sides ^^ 

My initial favorite was Circus, but the more I listen to Something New the more I like it. So if I had to pick between the two now I'd probably pick Something New. I need to give it a few days before I'm sure tho 

I can't even begin to describe how happy I am with this comeback. This is for sure my favorite of her minis and the title track is definitely up there with my other faves I and Rain. It's so smooth and only gets better with each listen. It really is something new but it fits her so well! It really feels like this is her. This is what she wants to do and I couldn't be happier and more proud of her. Continue to do whatever you want Taeyeon, and I'll be here to listen! 

And don't even get me started on the music video. So well made and so full of symbolism. It might seem quirky and weird at first, but it's actually so meaningful. I feel like I won't ever get tired of watching it.

Why has taeyeon been so quiet lately :( i miss her :( :(

At her birthday party two weeks ago she told fans that she has been taking a break to work on her health and happiness. Things have been hard for her so I think she doesn't feel like updating her instagram as much as she used to. We should let her take the time she needs and she'll come back when she's ready. She also said that she will release new music this year, so please anticipate her album! 

this isn't really a popular opinion, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a small bit of truth to it. The thing is, there's no general public rumors of either Taeyeon or Baekhyun being gay in Korea. In fact, there are a LOT of rumors about Taeyeon with a ton of different men. The only place they're even suspected is the gay community, lol. so there would be no real reason for SM to hurt both of their reputations like that just for bearding, when no one really thought they were gay?

 

That being said, I do think Taeyeon is a lesbian. I don't like to speculate too deeply, but it feels like she's struggled with that over the years and I would not be surprised if she's dated some men. (and I agree that Baek is bi, and he'd been known to like her, so nothing suspicious on his part.)

Taeyeon's gay rumors in Korea are a little weird. She has had gay rumors since pre debut, but you're right they've never really been well known or discussed among the public. I think because her fans managed to burry them before she debuted. From what I know they emerged again a little later around 2008, but then dissapared again. As of today it's true it's mostly just talked about within the fandom and within the gay comunites, but there are also quite a few discussions about it on ilbe.. 

But yeah, I pretty much agree with what you're saying

Endless Season is a work of art. I used to read that shit religiously. I still hope that by some miracle the author will update the fic one day 

Please keep the Taeny posts coming everyone  I'm honestly so thankful to both of them for helping me discover who I am. No matter what was and is between the two of them, I'm sure their bond is something truly special. Now let me go re-read Endless Season

I can't believe it's been two years already. I remember being so nervous before Taeyeon's solo debut, but now I know I had no reason to be nervous at all. She exceeded my expectations in every possible way and and I'm so extremely proud of her! So much has happened these past two years and Taeyeon has grown so much as an artist and I'm so happy to have been a part of this journey. I'm so excited for all the amazing music and performances she'll give us in the future, I'll always be here to support her.

I can definitely relate to your confusion. Just one thing to keep in mind: Taeyeon is noticeably introverted, and that makes her opaque and easy to project yourself onto. So chances are, that at least partly, you are having a confusing relationship with your own reflection. At least that was the case for me. She posted her MBTI test results lately, and I was quite surprised to see introversion as the only trait we share, it felt like much more than that.

 

And it's not a universal solution, but a simple crude question of "would I do her, given the opportunity?" can filter out a lot of girls one feels only emotional attraction for.

 

You're probably right about this. It's not like I think we are similar in every aspect, but it's constantly all these small things, things she says and does, that make me feel like I can relate to her. I found it very interesting to read her MBTI test results. It almost made me relived in a way because her results matched the perception I have of her personality, so it was comforting to know that my idea of who she is isn't all wrong. 

It's still not an easy question to answer. Sometimes I feel like "hell yes, definitely" but other times I'm not so sure..

Just watched the handmaiden. Very solid movie. The photography is top notch.

 

What about the other actress? I think she was really good in her role. Im used to seeing koreans act in a...very korean way. But she did a great job with the nuances.

I just went to the cinema and watched this movie called Thelma. It's a very strange almost disturbing movie, but I liked it a lot. It's like a supernatural thriller with a lesbian story line and it's beautifully shot!

Sometimes I don't even know if I'm attracted to Taeyeon or not. It's more like I'm extremely emotionally attached to her and she means a lot to me and it's probably not healthy tbh 

I suppose she is my type appearance wise as she's cute, pretty and extremely charming, but it's her personality more than anything that makes her so fascinating and that's what drew me in. There is something dark and mysterious about her, and I feel like she's such a complex person and my angsty self loves that. She is both soft, sensitive and vulnerable but also strong, independent and charismatic at the same time, and I find that very attractive. But then again, I see my self in her in a lot of ways, which is both why she is so important to me, but also why it's sometimes difficult to see myself as "into her" in that sense 

Other than Taeyeon I'm not really interested in any of the other girls being discussed here. There are some I find pretty like Sunmi and Mina, but that's not enough to keep me interested
