  1. Guys it's been established here that Ailee is the best vocalist in kpop if we compare all the indicators in vocal pedagogy like supported note, resonance, musicianship and etc. however, if we disregard all the aspects like intonation, musicianship etc and ocus on true resonance only. Who would be the best in kpop? Would it still be Ailee or Kyuhyun or are there any vocalists who actually produce resonance more often Please exclude Sohyang since you know....she just slays with resonance..
  2. I'm not a WG stan, and actually this is my first time listening to WG since when you believe is one of my favorite song. And I'm surprised that YeEun really has a nice tone and I like her phrasing as well. I don't really know in technical view but I like YeEun's lower register as well. I gotta say she did it nicely, better that Sunye if I must say. But it is subjective tho since I don't really know about vocal that much. I think the intensity of the nasality is pretty much affected by how low one vocalist' soft palate to the other vocalist. When one vocalist sings with moderately low soft palate he/she would produce nasality since there is (although not much) air moving through the nasal cavities. However, when one vocalist sings with a very low soft palate to the extent that the tongue sticks to the soft palate and his/her mouth does not really open wide enough, almost all air from the throat move through nasal cavities which make the sound/note more nasal.
  3. I think the open throat that we're discussing is probably in different sense. It is true tho when we're comfortably singing, the throat is generally open to let air come out. However, in the sense of open throat that I'm saying is the open throat that must be achieved to produce resonant notes. Let me quote the information that the OP has nicely provided us Clearly, the soft palate could not be in lowered or relaxed position to achieve an open-throated sound or note.
  4. I thought an open throat could only be achieved when the soft palate is lifted... With some more indicators like jaw muscle etcetc???I think lowered soft palate is the position when a nasal sound is produced. It is where tha tongue sticks to the soft palate. I can be wrong tho.
  5. Well I gather that some people here could identify an open-throated note just by listening to the audio. Could someone also hear that a note is sung with a risen soft palate just by listening to the audio? How could those even be differentiated? One more question, if an openthroat needs risen soft palate, correct position of jaw, lips, tongue and facial muscles and mouth (which is already difficult as it is), what more technique that needs to be done for an openthroated note to become resonant?
  6. I recently read the OP again but I don't know whether I overlooked it or what I'm gonna ask is unusual. I know that good vocal technique requires open throat, risen soft palate, proper breath support and stable larynx. What i'm asking are: 1. What's the difference between open throat and risen soft palate? 2. Could an open-throated sound be achieved while singing with a high larynx? 3. What you name a sound which is achieved with open throat but lack breath support? Thanks for anyone who would kindly answers my inquiries^^
  7. Well, 2 octaves 3 notes and a semitone is not really bad for vocal range. Her techniques tho...
  8. Lol I hope I could read all pages until 960ish (the page where I started to read the present topic as well). It provides so much knowledge. Tho sometimes there's off topic discussions started by some irresponsible posters lol. Cocky. Lol.
  9. Ikr? I'm currently on page 390ish while keeping up with the present pages and topics lol.
  10. Ikr. I started reading fanfics after I watched that teaser lol. At least I know that baekyeol will still be there no matter if one or both of them are dating. This ship is only due to their close friendship from the very beginning. So I don't see why we should stop to ship them.
  11. Yeah, I can't say the same thing about me but well, I'm coping. This teaser is like a water in a desert to me. Can't wait for the episode to be aired and subbed.
  12. Well I'm sorry for answering disregarding my lack of knowledge about her. Then could you please link me her slayage performance then (preferably whitney and barbra covers)? It wouldn't hurt to know her better
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg8lfMWDrGQ How should we feel about this? I think this is a little light for us in this darkest hour. I'm going to embrace it while it lasts
  14. Well, I kinda figured that Ailee and Kyuhyun are the best vocalists among kpop idols. I gathered that much after reading this thread for quite a while. They who are considered experts in this thread agreed that Ailee and Kyuhyun are, once again, the best vocalists in kpop. I said that Lee Sunhee isn't really the best based on latest performances of her that I watch and also her latest osts. Yeah she sings very nicely remembering that she's not that young. But, her songs aren't that challenging and she doesn't showased her full power when singing anymore. However, you should note that I've never watched Lee Sunhee's performance when she's younger or in her prime, so you shouldn't take my words very seriously.
  15. Lee Sunhee has a nice voice. She still sings well even in her age. But I don't really think she could be considered the best vocalist in SK tho. I think it would be Sohyang in general. And in Kpop or Idol only, the answer would be Ailee and Kyuhyun.
  16. I can't wait for another month to see Baek on roommate. Lol I lied, course I can. That would be a very great consolation for us all. I know the scandal hit us hard, people already said that baekyeol ship has sunk on the ocean's floor. But we of all people know that baekyeol's friendship is as real as ever. No need to jump ship guys, you'll never know the other's might be dating too.
  17. Just PMed you though I don't know if that space is already available or not. Thanks anyway
  18. Actually, on the first test, I started to use falsetto on E5 while on the second test on E4. Rly I think I was just confused from on what octave should I start the test like I can't differentiate how a C4 sounds (the starter note). Well, could I pm one of you guys a link where you could listen to my voice if that wouldn't be such a hassle? Beware for major intonation issues, poor breath support and lacks of knowledge about vocal in general tho, lol. (I'm not joking)
  19. Hi, could someone tell me what vocal type my voice is. I recently took the vocal type test in yt and I don't know what my range is. I took it two times. The first one it seems that my range is D3 - F6 (the bottom note is very breathy and the top note is a strained falsetto) While the second one, it says C2 - F5 (with the same quality, I started to use falsetto/head voice at E4). Basically I'm just confused in which octave I should start or which range is actually precise. Maybe I can't clearly differentiate it but people do say that someone who takes that test tends to mistake it one octave lower or higher. For additional informations, I'm an almost 21 year old boy so I think my voice ain't gonna change drastically anytime soon, also I have some weight in my voice (chest and mixed) maybe a little bit heavier than D.O whilst my head voice/falsetto can be very very thin (it could be wrong technique or just underdeveloped). So anyone could tell me which range I'm actually in? And with that little informations, could you identify whether I'm a light lyric, full lyric, spinto tenor, or baritenor? (My choir only identified me as tenor and that was 4 years ago) Thank you to anyone who would take the time for answering. It would really help since I really want to know more about vocal pedagogy while improving my technique if I could (I'm already on page 342 guys).
  20. I choose to believe this story to be the truth.
  21. Chanyeol's face in the back = PURE GOLD! He's genuinely happy to see baek's aegyo.
