  1. I dont know the answer to your first questions but I think I know the last question's answer. I think the trills between your nostrils while sustaining consonant "n" means that you're nasal when you sing that part. But it isn't really a problem since "n" is a nasal consonant to begin with. Edit: Please negate if my statement is wrong dear vocal experts
  2. Does anyone know any good video explaining a proper vocal warming up?
  3. Yep I personally love that adlib as well. It was nicely executed I must say. I'm not a fan of Lady Gaga so i don't know that she is that good. Too bad her vocal technique is overlooked bcs of her persona.
  4. I'm in no way know any vocal knowledge or technique but i must say the performance was very good. Lady gaga is such a good vocalist if not more in my opinion based on that performance alone. And if my ears don't betray me, I could clearly hear that she's resonant or at least openthroated throughout. Her musicality and musicianship are also very good imo. I could be wrong tho lol. Or most likely.
  5. It was almost unavoidable tho. They're singing an english duet song. It would be pretty messy if they choose not to replicate the original version. Unless, they have more time to practice together. Also yes, hyorin are mariah are/were clearly on way different level. No one expects hyorin to be as good as mariah, in her prime.
  6. I actually did..many times. I kind of feel bad for him tho, have to listen to such crap lol.
  7. Lol you should make it. Ahmin is one of the least judgmental people when it comes to amateur's singing lol.
  8. Lol Bom and Taeyang may be worse than three of them but they're for sure a lot more relevant lol. Yes Baekhyun has been analyzed before but the analysis was taken down I don't know why. I never got the chance to see the analysis lol. Maybe zhx is updating the analysis before putting it back to the blog idk.
  9. T-ara's Eunjung, KARA's Seungyeon and 4minutes' Sohyun if I'm not mistaken. But I don't they're either good or relevant enough to be analyzed tho. I hope someone would make analysis for Baekhyun lol.
  10. Lol a little part of me dies everytime someone said that a good male vocalist (tenor) should be able to belt a C5 lol. From those names, who do you think are technically superior than the others? I like michael buble and john legend tho. Their songs are kinda my jam. Irony isn't it, it is said that most male's voice type are baritones yet it is very hard to find any good baritones. How general public still think that higher note = better vocalist
  11. I don't know if this has been discussed in this thread, but does anyone here know about Il Volo? They're like italian trio who sounds kind of operatic but are they vocally as good as opera singers? Or at least good as vocalists in general? Will look up their performances. About hwanhee tho, I think he puts too much chest when he belts his tenor notes which sometimes kinda disturbing. But yeah he's good no matter what lol Well I think I phrased it wrong. What I mean is, english-speaking vocalists which kinda includes english lol. I love him!!! I think he's great, I just didn't know that he's OBJECTIVELY great.
  12. Does anyone here know any good/great mainstream (american) male vocalists especially baritone who often achieves resonance? I'm training my ears to differentiate good notes, but it is somewhat always easier for to differentiate great female vocalists with the bad one and somehow finding a great female vocalist is also easier to manage than male. Like I only know Naul which can be taken as example for a great male vocalist (tenor), while on the other hand there are mariah, whitney, aretha, babs, sohyang and even mezzo like beyonce who are considered great female vocalists. Thanks in advance.
  13. Lol I thought you think that it was bad from the way you said it but I ain't got no problem with how it sounds lol. Mariah tho, she didn't seem like herself. She didn't do many runs like she always does.
  14. That doesn't sound bad to me tho. Bless my untrained ears.
  15. I'm in law school rn focusing on international law, graduating next year. If I weren't a law student, I would choose international relations. Ambassador/diplomat was my dream job.
  16. If what you're saying that he has a character of a leggiero tenor/ryeowook is underdeveloped leggiero tenor, then I agree to that but I don't think he could be granted a leggiero title as of now. What I was trying to say is that a leggiero title could be granted once a tenor in particular has done leggiero technique consistently. Like how could we compare ryeowook's agility with the agility of Mariah and Beyonce who are the only two vocalists that are classified as coloratura (at least on the OP). Their level of agility are separated by far imo.
  17. Guys, it is established that leggero tenor is the male counterpart for coloratura soprano. And someone said that coloratura title is earned not achieved. Then is the same thing applies to leggero? The OP says that Ryeowook and MJ are leggero tenor, disregarding MJ, has ryeowook earned it to have the leggero tenor? Or else, does leggero and coloratura differ from one another? I'm confused lol. Lol my falsetto starts from F4 and stops around F5/F#5. My D2 (tho only whispers) makes up for it lol #firstbaritoneproblem. I'm not a good vocalist anyway so I don't mind my narrow range lol. Anyway, you got a pretty high voice for a baritone tho even if it is achieved on falsetto/hv
  18. Lol people be talking a good male vocalists should be able to resonate a C5. While here I am totally strain even an F4.. #firstbaritoneproblem
  19. I'm so glad Hyorin made such improvements. Her upper mix belts are very good these days. It is also clear that her breath support is getting better. Hoping to see more Hyorin's vocal slayage in a very near future. Lol at your last line tho.
  20. If I'm not mistaken the info has been provided in the OP. But if I am, his voice type is Baritenor.
  21. Lol ignore me on that one tho. I always assume a sweet looking guy to be a tenor until proven otherwise. That's why I always assume guys like chanyeol, siwon, baekhyun, kyungsoo amongst others to be tenor which is partially untrue. And I always assume tougher looking guys as baritone until proven otherwise which is why I assumed kai, kris, yunho, etc to be baritone lol. There's no truth in it tho.
  22. Welcome to the baritone club! I thought he were a tenor tho. His face doesn't show that he's a baritone lol. Sums up everything.
  23. I don't know whether it is true about breathy singing would cause vocal nodules but it does helps your voice deterioration right? Many claim that Mariah's vocal declines rapidly atm bcs pf his stylistic breathy singing and Hyorin uses the same style of singing especially her falsetto. Does it mean that Hyorin's most likely would decline caused by the same habit/stylistic choice? Does Hyorin have no ability to use headvoice or she stylistically uses falsetto (the breathy one at that) instead? Since I rarely to never heard her use head voice
  24. Hyorin's breathy singing also concerns me a lot. She always seems short of breath when she sings. However I think it is done for stylistic choice since Hyorin can also turn it off when she belts, I think. But her breathy falsetto tho..She might decline on her later age if she keeps singing that way, just like Mariah
  25. I think I heard the resonance, I wasn't sure previously tho whether I heard that right since my ears are not trained but lurking here does provides knowledge. Younha's voice is very steely to my ears her resonance is very beautiful. But listening to her video, I kind of understand why Ailee is still slightly superior, at least imo. Thanks for the answers to both of you ^^
