  1. Speaking of the editing on this show so far, I think it is fine. "Evil" editing is when A makes a disgusted face at something but the editor edit that cut to make it seem like A is disgusted with B which brings hate to A (even though the truth is that A made the face at a different time unrelated to B). Some performances not shown in full is understandable since this show is already over 2 hours long. Of course there is bias in the editing but none of these contestants (at least to me) did anything so far or edit in a way that makes me dislike them.
  2. Contestants I like so far: Yamy, Mimi, Zining, Re Yina, Fu Jing and Ao Juan. Re Yina and Ao Juan are weak at dancing but I hope they improve as the show progresses. I am also keeping an eye on Meiqi because I think she is quite charming (though I haven't really seen her much on the show yet to gauge more of her personality).
  3. Produce 101 China has a documentary too that focused on the producer or the person who brought copyrights for this show and he questioned why there were barely any well known girl groups created in China for the Chinese audience (and that is why he decided to do this show because he wanted to create a girl group that would last despite it being temporary). Tao in another interview brought up how investors doesn't want to take risk and invest in girl groups because they think only boy groups would make it. Music itself is shaky in China because unless you are a really well known (maybe winning on some singing shows)/famous/established singers from an earlier era, you won't really make money. Acting is more lucrative in China and actors/actresses tend to have really long lasting careers there. There are music charts like Fresh Asia Music Chart or Billboard China but there aren't a lot of music ranking shows like the ones in South Korea where groups/solos/duos would compete and do comebacks for their new songs. Shows like this are good since it gets people who might not be interested in idols watching (be it if they found the girls entertaining or they just like watching competitions) but whether they continue to support these girls after the show is over is something that still needs to be observed. The only well known Chinese "idol" group I know of currently in China is the TF Boys. The well known boy groups in China before were groups like F4 or Fahrenheit but both are Taiwanese boy groups. Not to mention these are boy groups so their path to success might not work the same for girl groups. Girl groups like S.H.E. was really popular too but again, they are a Taiwanese group. It was also a different time back in the early 2000s where a lot of Taiwanese singers/groups were also active in China. China now is definitely investing in its own music/variety industry by buying copyrights of shows that worked in South Korea and creating their own original shows that target more towards the younger generation such as street dance shows.
  4. I think some of the ones skipped probably got replaced by others in episode 2 who made it into the final As. True, there will probably be some underdog stories going on too (which I am fine with as long as the girls in question really improved and moved up the ranks). Let's just cross our fingers that the charming ones also have talent. I agree (and I hope so). I really don't think Chinese netizens/fans are going to vote for someone ranked D or F unless they are super funny or pretty or already have an established fanbase (which I currently don't see the ones ranked Ds or Fs have so far have).
  5. Yeah, I am hoping that the girls being in As will help since they will probably get more screentime which will allow the audience to be more familiar with them. I honestly just need at least half of them to be able to sing and dance. One or two will probably get in for being funny/relatable which is fine since the group would need someone who can entertain when they go on variety shows.
  6. Yeah, like what WJSN said, the final 11 will be determined by the votes. Hopefully majority of the final 11 will mostly be As though.
  7. There are only 11 As because they are only going to debut 11 girls (which is different from the Korean version where there can be as many As as possible despite only debuting 11 girls at the end). This raises the standard so that the 11 As are the top of the top and they become the goals that the other non-A girls strive for. It also keeps the 11 As on their toes since if someone from B/C/D/F becomes better, then they might replace them as one of the new A member (so they can't relax and must continue to improve). It makes sense that the hopefully eventual 11 final members are all As too.
  8. I am liking Yamy so far. I think she really adds her unique characteristics to the group and her original group seems great too. All the girls haven't even performed yet in episode 1 so we will see more performances in episode 2. It is nice to see the level of talent being pretty high and that most of these trainees had some experience and just know how to sing in general. Like Show Luo/other mentors mentioned, most of them are not going to make it until the end but I hope they will get at least some good experiences/memories/potential opportunities from this. I like the mentors a lot too, they are definitely people with experience/skills and can definitely help these girls out. Of course shout out to my bias Tao for being a charmer as usual.
  9. Yup, this thread was originally in the Korean entertainment section. It got moved to the Chinese entertainment section after he left the Kpop industry. Yes! He is currently filming for a movie called "Summer portrait of a 19 year old" in Taiwan. He should be done around February.
  10. Is it just me or have the threads with Tao clarifying that lawsuit with SM not showing up anymore on the Tao tag? The thread I made had all the tags deleted after the crash and I added back the tags but it is still not showing up. I can't find the threads some other users made either unless I google the titles of the threads. Edit: Okay, the thread I made showed up again after a couple of minutes after I added back the tags. Don't know what happened to the other threads (most likely the tags got deleted [because of crash?] so can't find it when you search Tao unless you google the title).
  11. Why do you always speak such truth? And yes, EXO-Ls had a lot of expectation of Tao. Tao was one of the few ones in the group who really vouched for EXO as a "group" instead of just of bunch of co-workers working together. Tao was the one uploading vids of other members on his Meipai, saying happy birthdays to members, he made the group seemed like a "group". But it is because of that fans only take and take. When it is another members' birthday, they expect Tao to say something. When there was a group event, fans expect Tao to upload something. This same expectation wasn't on the other members. It also comes down to fans just wanting to take. Few questioned why Tao, who was the most obvious cheerleader of the group, left. How many people actually followed Tao and saw what he went through? How many people actually cared about him more than the member who pushed up the other members? The one who was their access to their favorites? Not many actually cared about Huang Zitao. All they wanted out of him was this "extra, diva, attention-seeker, spoiled crybaby" who made the others look good. He got called untalented and ugly all the time. Rarely did anyone acknowledged his singing, his rapping, and even his dancing. Luhan will always get it "easy" because he was the "non-problematic" one who didn't "cause drama". Look at the quality of the songs he released. How did people react? "Luhan can do better than that!". If it was Tao who had released those songs, his ass would had been dragged and be made fun of. The contrast between people's attitude towards other members/Krishan and Tao are rooted from the fandom's beginning. Once a fandom is set on certain beliefs, it will be hard for a fandom as a whole to change (hence the phrase "fans are stuck in 201_"). Tao will forever be the black sheep because of certain Cfans' influence on Ifans since 2012 (from excluding him from Chinaline and translating shit about him while not translating any bad things about their own favs). It doesn't help that fans would prefer to stan someone everyone else likes. Fans who are in fandoms want to fit in and be part of a community. That's why Tao's fans are always in their own groups (almost isolated from the bigger fandom). Tao also has a lot of scattered fans who were never part of the bigger fandom or left because of the pressure/stress (stanning is suppose to be enjoyable!). That's why I admire fans who stuck with him since the beginning because it is not easy (but it is worth it when Tao is so appreciative and proving everyone wrong). The only "fault" that Tao did was expressing his feelings and rooting openly for the group. If he was one of the quiet ones in the group who never went for "We are One" and actually put feelings (openly) into this group, life would had been easier for him. But then, most of us probably won't had stanned/continue to stan him.
  12. PreciousTaoBar will be subbing his videos. They already subbed the "Let's Sing Kids" one.
  13. He said on "See You on Monday" that there will 5 other songs coming out. So it seems like he will have 8 songs for his setlist (plus he might cover Jay Chou's songs). It is a mini concert/fanmeet so it probably won't be that long like a regular concert.
  14. I think he made his message clear already (his father's letter ended with goodbyes) and might not even be following up what SM is doing right now. It can also be he is not saying anything more because EXO is having a comeback. SM probably made that statement not only to save their ass but also to bury the Tao issue for now to focus on EXO's comeback. Maybe, it can be that he is coming back for good. Not sure of his upcoming schedules except that he have been invited to different variety shows (don't know if he accepted any of them yet).
  15. Yeah, he will be there physically. He will probably be at the airport tomorrow or the day after? Takes like 12+ hours to get from LA to Beijing.
  16. Ivy Club on Twitter even promoted Tao's movie, My Sunshine. Lmao, while EXO-M account on Weibo pretended like that movie doesn't even exist.
  17. The woman with the spiked backpack is his mom. Edit: Unless you meant the fans taking the pictures following afar?
  18. The cake gif is fake sub lol Don't worry. All the big A listed celebrities in China went through shit. Jackie Chan, Yangmi, Fan Bing Bing, Zhao Wei, Huang Xiaoming. etc. all had a period when they were attacked by antis and the medias. This is almost like a passage of rite in the industry. The more hate one gets, the more one is going to get famous later on. Public sentiments are easy to change, especially if Tao leaves EXO because half of the rumors he had were started by fans of other members. Once he gets on variety shows or have good projects, people will see him as Huang Zitao, not EXO's Tao who was rumored to hit fans and what nots. He was on some Chinese variety shows and he gained fans just from those few minutes. He got praised for his good singing on that show with Heechul and was praised for his Wushu performance during KBS Gayo. Tao will definitely be fine especially because he got connections and people willing to watch out for him.
  19. We will never know the full story but if Tao's father didn't intervene, Tao might just sign the 2nd contract and who knows how long that contract is. Not to mention if they didn't have plans for Tao, he might just be in the dungeon for the next 4 years in terms of solo activities. Tao mentioned before his body is starting to fail him meaning if he continues to stay in EXO, a performance group, he will never have enough time to heal properly. They already have Tokyo Dome in November and other performances in between. He can't just rest for a little, perform again, rest a little again. His injury will just prolong. There is also the issue with his mental health. Suho mentioned he wanted to "heal Tao's mind" and Tao admitting how he is really tired. Right now, it is not just his physical health but also his mental health. As long as Tao continues to stay in EXO, he is going to be dragged by fans of other members and with medias going after him. As least if he is out of the group, fans of other members will get off his back after a short period of dragging. They did forget about him sooner or later. Tao will have a new fanbase that won't be influenced by this fandom's views of him (I have seen Tao fans dropping Tao because of what other fans say about Tao).
  20. This is my speculation but I think they took advantage of Tao's loyalty to the group. Everyone can see Tao puts a lot of effort into EXO and is one of the members most vocal about being in EXO. Not many people think he did leave despite being a Chinese member. Based on what Tao's father said, they planned for Lay AND Tao but only resulted in Lay's studio. When Lay's studio news came out, this Chinese manager on Weibo reposted that news and wrote how EXO's future Chinese activities will have to go through Lay's studio. Adding to what Oniontaker had said on twitter, Lay = SM China. This all makes it seem like Tao wasn't included in the plan from the beginning. Maybe they thought Tao will sign the second contract despite taking back their words because the possibility of him leaving was low. Also, Tao's baidu bar mentioned how all the members' baidu bar had a meeting with SM staffs asking about how the members are viewed in China and Tao's baidu bar asked for help to clear up his rumors. But they didn't bother so it seems like they really don't care about his image in China? They probably didn't take into account of how Tao's injury also affected this decision. Plus I know SM was pretty sloppy with Tao's Chinese activities but Tao had never complained about it or even mentioned it. Some bnfs leaked the activities Tao was supposed to have for the past 3 years and some were either dragged out then rejected or given to other members first.
