  1. Miyu's singing style from the covers that she done so far is on the line of IU and Bolbbalgan4 style that resonate of popular coffee-house music which Koreans love. IU and Bolbbalgan4 is the two most popular digital in Korea (and two of them has very beautiful voice, Miyu too).

I already can feel more support for her when position mission is here. Girl gonna nail acoustic performance so hard.

  2. People already discover and appreciate Miyu's singing talent, down grade won't affect her likability. I won't worry.

Sakura's nail Nekkoya dance and that's y she deserves the A. And her live performance prove it weeks ago that she is a good choice. I swear ppl would give Kaeun a passing grade with her pity story line at this point, but she is stiff and bored as fk on Nekkoya stage as another center candidate. Sakura is deserving the grade that given to her more.

Probably I'm only people here that doesn't sold on Kaeun and I probably will get negged for saying this haha I think her rank will drop later after K-netz get over her pitiful storyline (likely still stay in top12 though) with other new discover trainees of the upcoming performances.

  3. Among the P48 girls, Goeun, Hayoon, and Yuri sound like normal main vocals (not to put either of the 3 down, I love all of them, especially Goeun).

Miyu’s voice is far from normal. I have yet to hear an Kpop or even Jpop idol that sounds like her.

Successful solo isn’t easy, but being part of a group like this could very much boast the chances up. Chungha came from IOI and look at her now. Even Sejeong’s solo debut did fantastically.

My reaction to her is wow she doesn't sound high pitch like most Japanese female idols that I find and pretty good vocal. Idk what u guys talking about her voice. But it's fine for a unique voice in a group (to ppl that find her voice uncommon).

Shinee's Key voice is really standout from group song so ppl either like or hate his voice (Miyu's voice actually appealing to people, so I don't see how is even an issue in a group) even Jeongyeon's voice so she has to control how she sings.

So I'm glad she is appreciated.

  4. Omg omg I'm soooo happy for Miyu >< not only Koreans are noticing her talent, she got a fansite, this thread if full of Miyu love and she's been receiving so many praise and love in social media <333 it's been discussed before but I think it's obvious she wants to be an idol. She studies in one of the top universities in Japan, knows ballet, can play 3 instruments... And she's been in the industry since 2009. If she wanted to follow any other career path, I'm sure she would have. She might have a voice that stands out, but that is in no way a bad thing imo. Songs became so much richer when there's different vocal colors in it, I can think of multiple examples ><

Anyway!! I'm just so so proud of her :rlytearpls: :rlytearpls:

Through her hardwork and love for music and performing I believe she will keep earning the GP's love. Just like Kaeun. Both of them know what is like to be stuck when all you want to is to perform more and more (no comeback for years; never ranking on the SSK). I really really hope they get to debut. I feel like they'll bring a lot of hope for the other contestants as well >< And teach them a lot! Be a good influence.

I don't get with the voice thing, her voice sound normal to me (just not the high pitchy voice that are usually find from Japanese idols and I'm very glad for that). There are tons of idols in Kpop that has very standout voice such as Hyolin and Soyu of Sistar.

3 members of Mamamoo that could be solos, Chen, D.O and Baekhyun in Exo etc

But they are in a group. Successful as a solos are not easy.

  5. Why ppl talk about if it is a good idea for Miyu in a group when she supposedly in the idol group for 9 yrs already and it is not like solo is an easy route? So of course she wants this and probably best chance for a step stone for solo career later.

Being in a group for 2.5 yrs will help her building fanbase in Korea+Japan+international with group activities, and who says she can't release a solo while active in the group? she may get more support this way from group fans than anything.

And I don't think female trainees in Produce that isn't in the final group really get established fan base after the show (audiences easily forget after few months), the attention is completely on the group and the members after the show (the members even get better opportunities this time as they promote in Japan too, and with 2.5yrs, they likely visit more countries and Kpop international audiences will get to know them better than IOI imo). So ppl that stan her should rooting for her in the group.

Anyway I probably one of few ppl here that isn't have stable line up pick, I'm open for new favs until mid-way hehe

There are 2 sides to every coin. You rightfully pointed out that Tzuyu may enjoy a higher popularity if JYPE arranges more solo work for her. On the other hand, given her tender age, her public shyness, her school commitments and Twice's crazy/non-stop activities, what will Tzuyu want? I don't know the answer for sure; but it can be more rest? More time to prepare herself to get used to the limelight (solo)? Or maybe more solo activities?

When I think that she get more rest as a result of her lack of solo activities, I am more at ease with her situation.

The lack of solo activities for the other Twice members is also frustrating the stans of other Twice members.

Some Twice members are highly popular in SK too.

Let's just say it is an issue with how JYPE handle Twice in general.

On a somewhat no-related issue, there is a development that I am happy about, that I meant to write about it for the past few days.

In the birthday vlive with Chaeyoung, Tzuyu and CY both revealed that Tzuyu is now more playful, talkative, more animated, talk louder and dance regularly in the dorm. This is important to me and for Tzuyu's long term career.

We have observed that Tzuyu was very quiet and lacking in confident in variety shows. To me, I just want her to be herself. If she is an introvert and a quiet person, I don't really want her to force herself to change for the sake of getting more limelight. Fortunately, Tzuyu's true nature is lively and outgoing once she is more confident with the Korean language. Given some time and with age, her true personality will 'show up' in variety shows. By then it will be a good time for Tzuyu to appear in variety shows more often.

Tzuyu high classic visual and elegant image is her selling point, so it is not necessary for her to be a variety-person (as she can promote in different direction career wise). As long as she is confident and express herself well with media which is a must for celebrity, I think that's enough. And she currently developing that as she has been confidently singing a lot on Vlive, her speech is good and her language proficiency is improve a lot.

For the solo route, doing few photo shoots, cfs and attend fashion event is a good start now and would match for Tzuyu (considering every factors). I don't say acting cuz that's took a lot of time, so that is something is impossible for now. But JYPE is restricted all of that opportunity for all members to focus mainly maximized the group profit, it is kinda unfortunate (none of the members even attend any fashion event or any event yet). I really hope it change by next year (with new group debut and StrayKidz finally start making good profit. They should think about members individually abit). Tzuyu also will graduate by Feb next year if nothing happen. Becuz of her age and education, I accept current arrangement so far.

  7. Saw pp start dragging Yujin and Wonyoung because they are "just pretty"

But i realized they stan some girls stuck in D, F :derp: giphy.webp

Hypocrite cuz it is not their favs

Cuz u know people will defend their favs from hell to heaven such as a hardworking person, she improve alot and entertaining in the show (ignore the skill), she deserves the ranking blah blah. Like stan who u stan, don't be hypocrite and used that typical drag on others. Its hilarious.

I have my own favs, but I won't hypocrite and used that lame drag on other trainees for their popularity. Fans need to learn to suck it up when their favs not the ones with popularity and pray.

  8. Sakura drop in ranking right now actually benefitting her imo (when we are just at early stage of the show). She will get lots of hate just being on top for a long time. PEOPLE HATE THAT SHIT!! even if u are so talented.

Audiences won't sympathetic with her and may actually effect her later episodes that matters more when there are bigger public votes involve (esp it is all up for Korean voters). Good example is Somi!!A lot of people started sympathized more to her after she drop from #1 and then prove herself to them with her skills, her fan base growing even bigger with that story (as a result, majority that isn't her fans warm up to her too) and then clinch #1 at the end. That's is perfect story to minimized as much hate for #1. People love a good struggling story of rising to the top.

That is exactly how Daniel doesn't get hate and become hardcore public favorite as #1 compare to what Jihoon went throughout the show just cuz he is #1.

  9. I'm glad the two Japanese members that get my attention in 1st episode is rising.

So I learn their name is Miyu and Nao. Congrats!!

About Wonyoung, some people here acted like their favs deserves more than her when she actually one of the trainees in higher grade LOL So what she is also pretty too that help pushing her rank more? The 'pretty' excuse is so lame just cuz she is not your fav BOOHOO

  10. Yep.

I think it started from this account first as it on June 13, and then pick up by other popular account yesterday.

  11. Although this poll shouldn't put weight on anybody, the poll now became very popular on media Asia-wise. Tzuyu got so much coverage from her rank in Korea, Japan, Taiwan and the rest of Asia that reported this. And she knows about this.

So please vote for her and Twice members. I just did it.

    The rules are:

    1. Subcribe to their YouTube channel (smart bitch).

    2. Click like

    3. Write your nomination like "I nominate Chou Tzuyu of Twice from Taiwan"

P.S Please work hard to promote her!!

  13. Nobody is doing this. At the very least, no one is doing this in this thread. Who are you even talking to? "Cultural differences" is the explanation for the lack of skill, not the explanation for the grade.

Yes, ppl calling unfair how the judges judge the trainees cuz of different cultures, and as a result most with bad grade.

And once again, is J-industry fine to group with culture different for explanation for the mems of some groups lacking of skills? J-industry probably has decent amount of groups that training properly right? (but one could still bad of course but they still train seriously be4 debut like Kpop). Maybe is just specific idol companies within Japan? About popularity, it is more than good skills to be popular which I said that be4. Marketing and promotion and such is very important which I think Akb48 is very good at it and Kpop is good about it too (that's why, its popular overseas), and why their brand seems known outside of Japan the most.

  14. This isn't produce 101. This is produce 48. If Mnet wants to create a group to promote in both Japan and Korea (which they do) it needs to judge the contestants by the skills that are valued in both Japan and Korea.

The judgment in the show only taking into consideration the things that people pretend are what matters in kpop (singing and dancing) and ignoring the standars for jpop makes the system inherently flawed because a perfectly talented group will not become popular in Japan if it cannot adapt to the standards of that culture. Hence, cultural differences matter, that's how you analyze how to best break into a market.

    How they gonna judge that?

What value in Japan that u want them to judge. Variety? Variety skill is as important in Korea as Japan, tons of idols appear on variety and fixed member on shows (to mcs to radio so). And Mnet always showcase variety mems that they like for every seasons. This season is the same thing. Do we actual need to judge and grade for that? In term of looks being cute or so so, Mnet already has mems casting votes. What else?

  15. The show is about finding which 12 girls Korean voters will want in the group, that's literally all that it is about.

If u read, you will already seen me saying how audiences/fans are the ones that decided the line up. Skills is one thing, but other factors playing bigger reason to be in final.

But the judges doing their job by judging based on what they supposed to judge is another thing. That's why, I'm saying fans whining that cultural differences about unfair judgement over skill is silly. They need to judge that to given out the grade.

  16. Do you believe that Bae Yoonjeong, the fiercest critic of subpar dancing, was spouting bullshit when she brought up cultural differences as the reason for how 48G girls are successful without particularly strong dancing skills?

OMG can u freaking read? And its other ppl mention that thing to her.

How fans consume the product is their freakin choice...A lot of Kpop groups that are talents but not popular cuz most time beyond that factors to be popular (company influent to promote them on TV playing huge role etc).

but the show is NOT about that.

  17. The irony is that you've put your finger on the cultural difference. We EXPECT Kpop idols to dance and sing well. We DEFINE Kpop idols by their ability to sing and dance well. In Kpop we call people who were trained and debuted in a group "idols" even if no one ever idolized them.

The cultural difference isn't at the skill level, it's at the expectation level. Why are the 48G girls, who have sold far more than pretty much any Korean girl group could ever hope to, so behind in technical proficiency? Because idol culture in Japan developed along a different path than idol culture in Korea. The Japanese girls KNOW that they are by and large worse dancers, but the standards by which being an idol is judged are different in Japan. That's why Sakura is frustrated at the end of the episode: is there nothing in Japanese idol culture that can be appreciated outside of Japan?

    Did u freakin read??

Short and clean, the show is concept based on singing/dancing and that's what the professional will be judge and gave their grade on. If Japan have the same survival shows about singing and dancing, professional is the ones with supposed to be objective voice and they will doing the same like Korean judge based on the skills too. Nothing else. That's why, people putting cultural differences in this show is bullshit.

About cultural differences, I find how Kpop and Jpop idol survive is exactly (at least almost) the same (although Korean company offer training be4 debut and like I say I don't want to judge the whole industry based on 48G that J-idols doesn't have provided training so so like Kpop idols. Like I said it is probably about some company doesn't want to commit time or spend). Fansign and handshake are both to drive sale that being used a lot by idol groups in both countries, same as communication and fan service. About sale, of course one of top popular Japan gg will sell more than Kpop cuz 1 is much bigger industry (are we surprise?). And Kpop able to be more popular outside of Korea cuz overall idol groups their music/styling is familiar and their industry open to the world much earlier so there is advantage compare to Jpop. There already establish huge loyal community and they contribute with sub and as a result driving more traffic.

  18. Probably just me but those cultural differences are bullshit excuse to determine about skills.

If Japan love cute and charming girls, Korea is even more obsessed with looks. One of popular mems in each group always are visual member. Also like Jpop idol groups, the Kpop groups building fan base with other factors beyond skill too. To be appeal to public, the music has to appealing to them first and foremost, groups also has to promote on T.V a lot (of course popular ones got more opportunities) and be entertaining to attract attention, lots of fan service like Vlive, fansign and the popular shipping between the mems (the mems purposely doing skinship for that). Like I said the same shit, to be popular and gaining fans and selling, Kpop groups also depend lots of other factors.

The only different is Kpop companies bother to provided some years training to be decent at these areas before debuting while 48G company doesn't (probably cuz expensive and time commitment which they don't want, and just debut them quickly).

I will only claim specific this company instead the whole Japan industry cuz I'm sure there are lots of J-groups training properly before debut and not being so cheap (how good they are is another story and about individual too).

The concept of Producer is a show based on evaluation of skills, they have to be judge on the dancing/singing before given the grade. However, it obviously fans/audiences will choose whoever they like (not about just skill) cuz as u guys mentions story line, screen time, good editing matter freakin a lot.

And that come to my first point, there isn't exactly cultural differences that being exaggerated in the show. It silly.

A show about skill will judge based on skill, a show about beauty will be judge by beauty, a show about comedian will be judge by being funny etc. Its about CONCEPT!! That's it. I don't want to freakin hear cultural differences regarding to dancing or singing, so then ppl telling trainers can't judge mems are bad or not in those skills even though is their expertise area (cuz the other country doesn't require and shit and just being cute and entertaining to sell cuz that will be fan option to be a fan. Not the show concept!).
