Wait, really? Did he really say 'Semantic error is me.'

I think it is a step in the right direction. I know this is a speculation thread but the things he is saying are so relevant. He is speaking up for the community. We must really be appreciating this initiative and push.

I don't know why people here would be against us talking about Jaechan and Soeham when they literally are in a BL and with Jaechan saying so many supportive things. We always complain about people not talking about LGBTQ rights and how South Korea is so homophobic but when there are a few people showing support shouldn't we be really be at least acknowledging it? Instead of asking why are they being discussed here also especially when Jaechan is a kpop idol.

You're right it meant something so special to both of them not only career wise but in so many other aspects.

I really like how they are not only saying things to promote the show but also bringing it up that falling in love and being with the same gender/sex is not a bad thing. Something that most actors and shows don't care to bring up.

A place of respect has grown in me for Jaechan he is only 20 and we all know what it is like to be a kpop idol but he still is standing up for it.

I remember the actor of 'You make me dance' literally deleted everything relating to his bl and now pretends he never even did a bl. It felt like he was never proud of doing it.

WATCHA tends not to caption their videos but here they did. You can hear/read JaeChan  comment at 15:10. I really wasn't  sure about him in the past but with all these recent interviews/lives he might actually be family?

Also his agency is taking legal action against bullying claims being made about him. I guess the anti-fans smell blood once fame start to occur.

Don't worry about the clown reactions. Bringing up Semantic Error/Jaechan or Seoham seem to be a sore spot for some people here. Why? I don't know. When someone first posted about it here people actually had the gall to ask.. "why?".

With the show finally done and a lot more of the interviews being translated to English you can tell the show meant a lot to both of them and they really wanted the story to be told. Mind you this is a gay love story at the end of the day and they are so thankful to be a part of it. In one interview, the Interviewer ask what does Sementic Error mean to them. Jae Chan flat out says "Semantic Error is me". If that isn't clear enough. I don't know what is.

Honestly, wow. Which korean forums are these. Even if he was discussed it must've been lost with time cause it was so long ago. It's so funny that all the people who sussed him are now seeing him acting in a bl. Seungjun gave off more gay energy in his earlier days. He is really aging like wine. Like he's grown so well into his features especially with those glasses on.

Jaechan however. I don't really know what to say about him. He seems to be confident and comfortable in taking up this role.

He was also very keen on doing this project.  I don't know what to say about him. I can't really read well into him. I also read that Jaechan cried really bad when the shooting wrapped up.

Yeah I can totally see Seoham as gay/bi and giving no fucks. But for  Jaechan I’m not getting that vibe from him.

Despite that for a “young” guy he seems to be  *very* comfortable with Seoham (and comfortable with his sexuality). I love how Jaechan teases him in all the behind the scene footage.

  4. I can see why it’s trending. Semantic Error had a jam packed ending with a ton of kissing scenes haha. It’s also trending in Korea.  Currently the no. 1 Watcha show and no. 3 for overall streaming show. Beating out a whole bunch of big budget Netflix shows. Nice present for Seoham after enlisting. Hopefully this gets Jaechan more acting opportunities and helps with DONGKIZ popularity.

Behind the scene footage of a whole bunch of skinship and kissing scenes from the final episode.

This thread is not easy to access when you're trying to search up a name. but I just now looked through and his name was even mentioned back in like 2017.

    @Hobismiles posted this in 2017

    KNK Sexuality analysis:
Youjin: I don't really get vibes from him? Like he's had quite a lot few gay moments with the members but either Straight or flexible?
Seungjun: gAY lol there doesn't even have to be an explanation for this guy
Inseong: Bi but leans towards men or gay... Definitely not straight
Jihun: Bi.. Bi? Pan? He seems like the type that doesn't care about his sexuality and just loves who he loves thank god
    Heejun: Curious, yeah. Curious.
I realise that the majority of the LGB+ in this group that I analyzed is probably really far off, but I'm almost 100% sure that Seungjun is gay.

Soeham was highly discussed back in 2016. literally everyone at that time thought he was gay.

I had no idea Seoham was the talk of the town back in the day. The timing of  his military enlistment right after his show is interesting too.

so i was looking through the thread and i was wondering if anyone also thinks jungwon could be queer? to me he comes off as... aggressively heterosexual lol. but i can confirm that no 18-year-old boy focusses on soul searching, much less one that has a full-time career. the one instance i can think of with jungwon being sus is the one where he was discussing with niki about valentine's and he admitted that a guy friend bought him chocolates, but then he brushed it off really awkwardly. i don't think i've seen queer yjw discussion before here so i'd love to hear more opinions on this haha.

also, regarding semantic error... wow. the chemistry between jaechan and seoham is off the charts. i don't tend to watch bl and i also don't like kdrama, but i sat down to watch semantic error yesterday and i have to say i was really impressed! i like how it has a budget first of all, and second of all how the actors aren't completely awkward. i don't know anything about jaechan but i used to semi-follow knk back in the day and i think seoham is mlm. there should be discussion about him here from a few years ago. seoham used to go by seungjun back then so if anyone wants to search him up that's the way to go.

Jungwon can come off as "sassy" at  times. Not in his physicality but how he comments or jokes about things. This video about his sister cracks me up everytime I watch it.

  7. I think the show has every right to be discussed here. First of all they are Idols secondly they are in a GAY show. For me its annoying seeing countless comments about so and so derived out of speculation (BTS). But here you have two Idols who are openly talking about being in a gay show, being comfortable with each other and how they have had a good time.

Anyone notice how when people talk about the show they immediately mention Jaechan and Seoham's chemistry? BL dramas are starting to ramp up and after watching over a dozen of them, this is the first Korean BL show where the two leads have actual chemistry. I only started watching behind the scenes stuff until episode 6 dropped, and sure enough that chemistry is there. Regardless of the fanservice the chemistry is genuine and it's what people are latching onto. Of course we have no idea what goes on when the camera is not rolling but with everything I've seen you do have to wonder.

I was going to talk about the same. Really think it's fan service but man they also have good chemistry. Thing is that I feel they are really comfortable around each other. Soeham is going for his military service in a few months so I think we will have to wait some time for season 2, if there is going to be one.

I sometimes can look through fanservice cause I watch Thai dramas as well and see that some Thai actors will try to be really touchy feely around each other but Soeham and Jaechan are not that touchy. They just tease a little bit and the fans are freaking out. They seem to have a decent friendship going. I mean like Soeham literally went to his house had dinner with Jaechan's family and drank with his father. There were only 8 episodes and the episodes too were not that long either. They got close and comfortable within a very short span of time.

I remember Jaemin from NCT taking up a small role [it was not bl] and at the end they didn't even allow the kissing scene to happen. Being a young kpop idol there are a few limitations and expectation that you have to keep up with. Jaechan being 20 and taking up the role is a big thing in itself.

In a couple of interviews Jaechan mention he’s grateful too have taken the role in Semantic Error because he was able to meet SeoHam. Now they are genuine friends. I also find the age gap and the difference in personalities interesting. Firstly I never expected Seoham to be so introverted especially compared to the character he plays. Jaechan seems to be more extroverted in real life. Really interesting dynamic.

last I heard yijeong got signed to bighit as a producer and kyungil is doing his own thing as a soloist. theyve unfollowed each other on instagram since 2018...

This is sad. Even though I discovered them late, I really enjoyed watching the amazing bond they had  together. They put out some great music in their group. Glad they are both in the music scene even though it’s more behind the scenes.

  10. Well this has been a refreshing take on Thai BL series. All this behind the scenes drama is probably why I could never get into them. It always seems so contrived and fake to me. Now I know why.

The only good thing about the Thai series is that they are longer in length. I hope South Korea tries to do that more with their shows. Semantic Error being at least 20-25 minutes long really helps with character development and pacing.

Seoham was the leader of KNK but he's since left and Jaechan is a member of Dongkidz. They're both currently playing the leads in the live action adaption of the BL webtoon Semantic Error.

Apart from people thinking seoham was gay for years that's all ik bc I only started paying attention to them through the drama

Thanks for posting this. I've been obsessed with the show since it started and i was wondering why Seoham looked so familiar. The two leads have great chemistry and It's one of the best BL dramas I've watched so far.  I'm also watching First Love Again another BL drama were AOORA of all people is in it. He was in the nugu group AA back in the day. I think its safe to say he's clearly out and was never coy about. Guess what? He's also in the OnlyOneOf clip that was posted in the previous page. It's funny how how a lot of these former boyband members get their start in acting on these BL shows.

I said it a lot and I will probably get skulls for it but San definitely had a one sided crush on Wooyoung in the early days of Ateez. I'm pretty sure he's gay.

Anyway, agree. I don't think it's that impossible to imagine

I wouldn't disagree. Like all type of relationships they evolve and change. In the beginning of the WooSan coupling San was more forward about it and it seemed to be shipping for the sake of it. Now it's mutual and their relationship (romantic or not) is very strong.  I noticed a similar thing with Jackson and JinYoung.

A lot of these ships seem to be genuine platonic friendships...however it's rare that you see actual sexual tension (Jinyoung/Jackson) (YiJeong/KyunGil-HISTORY)

Dawon is one of the weaker members of SF9's vocal line so that's part of it (there's definitely a skill gap between Inseong and Dawon/Taeyang which is why Jaeyoon tends to get more difficult parts than they do). As for his vocal tone, I'm an SF9 stan, but I will say it isn't to everyone's taste, kind of like Jimin's. I think Rowoon is honestly a better contrast to Inseong and a more skilled vocalist. Also Dawon is just a tenor. As far as I know, "high tenor" isn't a real classification.

I just watched a video of Dawon struggling to do a high while Inseong replicated with ease lol. So yeah I see how weak he is. I'm not a fan of Jimin's tone but Dawon is just more comfortable to listen to. I never knew how skilled Rowoon is, he sounds fantastic here. I'm sorta new to this group.

  14. I’ve been obsessed with SF9 Rumination after hearing TRAUMA and hearing Inseong, Taeyang and Dawoon on leads. Inseong is of course the standout because of his skill but I love his unique tone. I’m also a huge fan of Dawon. I’m curious as to why Dawon is not used more to contrast with InSeong? I think he has the perfect boyband pop vocal tone. Also is Dawon considered a high tenor?

Yoo Ah In is pretty much confirmed, not yet officially though

his latest ig post is a pic of his boyfriend and his cat :)

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CXC7FZ8PyW-/?utm_medium=copy_link

Yes and he treasures Hye Kyo a lot too. He's still very close with her but can't say the same with Joong Ki. It's either the two of them were convinced by Joong Ki that the rumors are false or there's some sort of arrangements idk

Their marriage is such a mystery to me 😅

Joong Ki is now being linked to his Vincenzo co-star Jeon Yeo Bin.

yeah there's not much about Jin since he's very private but it's interesting how he's also a Taylor Swift fan and a GG fan too (up until now he still listens to girls generation). Like if taste in music is an indicator, he fits well right.

This stuff about Joongki and Yoo Ah In is blowing my mind right now! I had my suspicions about Yoo Ah In after watching my first drama of him in Chicago Typewriter. The Instagram of his friend with Yoo Ah In in a lot of his posts is very telling.  I’m shocked about how open he is without actually saying anything.

  16. I didn't know this thread existed. During the pandemic I was introduced to GOT7 and of course JINSON caught my eye. Although a variety of couples can be made since they all seem to enjoy each other company, JINSON stands out the most to me. Yes they have contrasting personalities, but the sexual tension between them sets them apart from the rest. Sometimes I do wonder...

It's pretty well known that the man has issues. He's been struggling mentally for a while now and even almost overdosed. I think people were confused as to why he wouldn't be more of a ladies man since he's the most attractive member of BB, which was hugely successful for years, but he has body issues (he used to be overweight and still is "very shy") and seems pretty sensitive in general - not meant for the celebrity lifestyle. He has talked about this in the past.

    Here's a bit more on that: https://www.koreaboo.com/article/bigbangs-t-o-p-reveals-the-effects-of-his-mental-illness-and-severe-insecurities/

He has expressed difficulty in connecting with women and he even addresses that in BB's songs. I don't think that necessarily means that he is gay. I can't recall him visibly being interested in men over women. The only suspicious thing, as you already pointed out, is who he hangs out with. But he did date that mess Han Seohee and there were other rumors, so who knows.

He strikes me as one of the three: very repressed gay (most unlikely to me), asexual, or with deep seated issues that affect his sexual/romantic life but straight (this is most likely to me).

Interesting. I never knew of his mental health issues and drug abuse. When I first got into kpop BigBang was at the height of their popularity but I was just an occasional fan of theirs. However TOP peaked my interest when I was browsing through a popular gay American website/message board and someone claimed that he slept with TOP. Back then people in the States barely new what KPOP was so it flew over their heads. I was in my little corner shocked at how random it was. It could have been a shit post but the specifics of the group/TOP and how they where in LA at the time sorta made sense?

I wonder how much of one's sexuality creates a problem within these groups. Especially as they spend so much time together and live together, it shouldn't but it may create issues at some point. There is much homophobia in the kpop world, along with misogyny and racism.

I'm sure it does but a groups dynamic can help or hinder it. For example a group like GOT7 (where I think their is obviously a queer member or two) it helps that some members are foreign. Especially when homosexuality is more open in Marks, Jackson's and Bam Bam's homeland.

Speaking of GOT7 during the height of the pandemic and quarantining I consumed so much GOT7 content. Reading in between the ships, skinship and fanservice, the usual suspects of Jinyoung and Jackson stuck out to me. I think they are both queer. I know BamBam's name gets thrown around here alot but I just see him as flamboyant and eccentric. Also I think his reactions toward Jinyoung and Jackson's closeness is very telling.
