  1. The leader position is literally the most useless position one can have in a k-pop group so I'm ok with whatever.
  2. Ahreum wasn't the only one who was supposed to go solo either. I think there were about 2 others before her. Announcing that you're going solo is CCM/MBK's way of saying 'Don't call us, we'll call you'. Unless you're one of their cash cows.
  3. Eunjung is given the high notes because she has a higher range, and it's probably why a lot of people see her as the better vocalist imo, but a vocalist's skill is judged by how stable they are, not range, and judging from their performances where they do more than lipsync I'd say Hyomin is at least as stable as Eunjung, if not a little more so. And honestly I don't think Hyomin' range is that much lower than Eunjung, she can sing fairly high and hit high notes when she has to. I think Hyomin tries to keep her voice a bit too low to give it a certain allure, which kind of works but can make her voice seem weaker than it is, while Eunjung's the opposite and tries to be as high as she can be, which comes off as a bit too close to screaming to me. I started to think this way after listening to their performance on Immortal Song. I hear ya about CCM's horrible management but what can you do. I think CCM is promoting the golden trio the most because they thought they had more potential appeal to the public and were in the original line-up while QBS were late comers(I think they even stated they all came shortly before debut?) so they saw them as their priority. Since they proved to be succesful and reliable money makers they just continued that way without bothering overly much with the other members. Not exactly fair perhaps and I dislike it too but c'est la vie. Also Qri with blonde hair = best Qri. Especially in IGCBOY, she was amazing in that.
  4. I know what you mean. CCM hasn't done a good job in promoting anyone outside Jiyeon, Hyomin and Eunjung. I guess it can be frustrating if you like her the the most out of everyone. But hey, lots of idols go through similar things. Just look at CCM's other groups, barely anyone cares about those at all, at least Qri is in the succesful group and not really the least popular either(Boram, and in the past Ahreum and Hwayoung were less popular). Also, HEY don't put down Hyomin :P, she's on par with Eunjung as a vocalist(granted they're both not very good but hey). Just fanboying a bit, don't mind me.
  5. I honestly haven't seen many people bash Qri. I mean there were some in the past, but they usually targeted Boram too. Anyway she may be the least gifted vocally but it's not like it matters that much in pop music. And after watching more of their live performances, old and new, Hyomin, Eunjung and Soyeon(I'm tempted to say in that order) are the only good live performers imo.
  6. I don't get why some people think that the vocal thread is actually that reliable of a place to judge vocals. I mean yeah there's objectivity in vocal pedagogy and I appreciate their input sometimes but how do you know that their input is actually that reliable? They seem to be very sure of themselves but they're not top notch vocal experts, and unless you have a good amount of vocal education you can't ever be sure that most of what they say isn't bullshit. And honestly even actual vocal experts sometimes disagree with each other so this objectivity that people like to refer to is probably harder to reach than some of us like to believe.
  7. Well he said himself that he does it mostly for fans so I'm not sure how much he likes it, though I guess it's possible it may have grown on him. Besides funny, it's kind of ....cute, I think.
  8. I always lol when Suga acts cute. I think it's because it's such a contrast to his usual cool self and you can tell it's not his strongest element
  9. I know what you mean. After having a bad day I usually listen to 'Tomorrow' but honestly the result isn't always that good. I think it's because half the lyrics are a bit depressing(the rappers' besides J-hope, and V's parts) and the melody is pretty mellow for the most part even in the more upbeat parts. I think it depends on how down you're feeling. It usually helps me feel better when I'm not too down on myself. Still one of the most inspirational songs in k-pop and Suga's still the man.
  10. Man those costumes are cool. I think the coolest is Suga, he really fits it. Jin and Jungkook are tied for second place in my book, though.
  11. I've been into it for about 2 years. I just don't follow Sistar or music shows, usually. I've seen weird dances before but I didn't think one of those would be nominated for a show that people seem to care about.
  12. ^Thanks. Never even seen that before but it looks weird to me.
  13. Late to the party. What 'pee dance' is nominated instead of sugar free?
  14. I'm neutral towards them. I just find rapmon's antics funnier. And yeah that guy looked kind of sad for someone who won an award.
  15. Well popularity is probably not the only factor, but I'm sure it plays a pretty heavy role. It's likely how V got more lines, even if he didn't get much rapping. I kind of see your point with Jimin, but besides a few songs he still gets plenty of lines(more than V), and even in those few where he doesn't, he gets some difficult high notes and ad libs that justify him not having many actual lines. Regarding Jongkook's voice, it's likely you're right, but besides range and power, it's also his vocal color. I like it but after a while it just gets annoying, even in songs like 'We on' where I normally love his voice. You mentioned their live performances, and while I can agree with you that skill matters, those are what made me think it's not as important as popularity. I haven't seen the Mnet parts where they all sing(was it recent?) but I've seen their radio performances and while Jongkook is the best in the group, Jin is better than V and Jimin, imo, but still gets shafted. V is actually pretty bad sometimes, no offense to his fans, but he still gets plenty of lines. I was actually surprised since I always thought Jin was pretty much crap, going by how everyone seemed to make him seem like he's miles behind the others. I think that he doesn't get lines because when they started, he was the weakest and since he's the least popular it just stayed that way even after his improvement. That's my theory anyway. And yeah, it sucks when they get criticised for their vocals, mostly 'cause it's true. I hope they all step up their game soon.
  16. Pretty much everyone says that about line distribution and it's not always true. At least as far as technique goes. I guess they could be referring to vocal color but even then I don't think it always applies since even in this album some of the vocalists' parts didn't suit their voices that well and could have been exchanged between each other. Granted that's subjective but still. A lot of the times it's mostly popularity that dictates line distribution, even in BTS.
  17. Heh, sorry. I meant in this particular song. I know V gets his share of lines :D. And well, I've been listening to the song again and those parts still sound just Jungkook to me, and sound the same whether it's Jungkook's or V's turn. But I suppose we can agree to disagree, I'm just glad there's no hostility here.
  18. aptaedo choego dwitaedo choego meoributeo balkkeutkkaji choego choego aptaedo choego dwitaedo choego georeumgeori hanakkaji choego choego Basically whatever Jin doesn't have an equivalent for. And I know V and Jin were in the same boat, it's why I was so happy when V got more lines in 'Boy in luv', but I think they're compensating for that a bit too much, while Jin doesn't really get much. I suppose I agree about Jungkook's 90% of lines though, the golden maknae's voice has gotten a bit irritating lately(at least to me). Anywho I agree with you about Jin. I really wish he'd get more lines or at least some ad libs/high notes sometimes. I listened to that video ever since it came out. And not to be a dick, but it's wrong at those parts. I can see why since it probably went by their showcase but it's still inaccurate. V only personally sings whatever Jin has an equivalent for. And I'm sorry if it seems like I'm trying to bring V down but it just seems like one of those cases where one of the popular and good looking members get pushed to the front to the detriment of other, possibly more talented members. I mean, I get the reasoning and strategy that their bosses probably use but still, it's bothersome to me a bit.
  19. Yeeeeah, I'm pretty sure those are Jungkook's parts in Hormone war. I can clearly hear his voice(I wouldn't have grown to dislike it without knowing it reasonably well). And fair enough about 'Just one day' but that still adds to the pushing V to the front issue. I mean I can understand having Jin get more lines than in the original recording, like in 'Let me know', because he really didn't get enough lines in that song(and unlike Jimin, no high note or ad libs) and it was the only way to have Jungkook do the required ad libs live, but in V's case not so much. I mean, I get it, he's the most popular and he's the most likely, I guess, to attract more fans but I'm still not a fan of it.
  20. I really liked this Hormone war vid, they all looked awesome, the dancing was awesome and it was lighthearted and fun. I'm not a big fan of having V lipsync to some of Jungkook's lines, mostly because it just seems like they're trying to force V in the front, like they did in 'One day' where V moved his lips to rapmon's singing part. I guess it's a bit hypocritical of me since I thought that Jungkook was shoved down our throats in general but they could at least have given those lines to V in the first place so we could hear his voice singing them, not Jungkook's. Honestly this is kind of like 'Danger' where V's singing part was actually Jungkook's voice combined with his own, with Jungkook being louder. I guess this confirms that V's the real visual?
  21. Jin wrote a second verse to the Outro :o. Niiiiiiice to hear. Also they finally performed 'Tomorrow'? I've been waiting for a performance of 'Tomorrow' since I first heard the song. I wonder if they gave Jin more lines, like they did with 'Let me know'.
  22. Oh, I know Jiyeon always received lines and such, with a few exceptions. It's just that Hyomin also used to receive similar treatment, in the vocal area even more, and now not so much. I guess/hope she'll have her time again. I used to feel similar to Eunjung but I can understand Eunjung getting more lines than Hyomin now since she's on par, has a voice that's more suited for their songs, and that Hyomin already sang her share with her solo debut.
  23. It's kind of weird to me that Jiyeon gets more lines and Hyomin gets less and less. I mean, I like Jiyeon's voice but Hyo>Ji, vocally.
